I'ts mainly because of piracy.

I'ts a lot easier to pirate pc games then it is to pirate console games, and game companies need money. So they make their games for platrorms that will give them the most $$$'s

I would say to go with wires when it comes to gaming, simply because i play video games a lot, and phantom power doesn't run out on you whenever it feels like it.
