Forum: Where is / How to?

oops, forgot to say i dont have any windows discs since i bought the PC at Best Buy, and they didnt supply me with a windows disc of any kind. it is still under warranty until the end of the year but i am sure switching the motherboard would void that so if XP died during the change i wouldnt know how to fix it.

i have a nvidia GeForce 6150 LE graphics card. 104GB hard drive. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docum ent?docname=c00749173&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en &product=3239113 is my specs, except i switched out 1 ram stick with a 1GB ram stick. do you have any ideas of a what i should look for specifically? i was thinking of making a run up to Fry's and looking around, i dont do it very often because it is over an hour drive and dont feel like wasting gas. thanks for your timely response.

Forum: Where is / How to?

good day/eve all, this is my first post. I am a self taught nerd so i run into questions that i look for answers to. my question for this week is... What would be the next thing to upgrade after RAM to make it faster? i currently have a Compaq Presario SR2010NX and have upgraded its memory with a 1GB stick, but i am a gamer so i always need more power. i know i can add a 2nd stick but it didnt seem to help noticably when i did it so was thinking my processor was just cheap, which i expect from a best buy $400 purchase 1 and a half years ago. The processor is an AMD Sempron 3400+ 1.88GHz, 1.18GB RAM running Windows XP. i assume i should change the prosessor next but should i change the processor only or should i get a new motherboard too? some ideas on what i should be looking for and preferably be compatible with my current RAM/HD would be good.
