Main Characters
Detective Mac Taylor, played by Gary Sinise. He's often called just Mac, and his wife died in the 9/11 attacks. He often does not sleep well, but is a believer in evidence. Once served in the USMC.[1]
Detective Stella Bonasera, played by Melina Kanakaredes, is absolutely devoted to her job.[2]
Detective Danny Messer, played by Carmine Giovinazzo, comes from a long line of law enforcement personnel.[3]
Medical Examiner Sheldon Hawkes, played by Hill Harper, lost two patients and thereafter walked away from being a surgeon. In season 2, Hawkes will be abandoning his autopsy room for the field.[4]
Detective Don Flack, played by Eddie Cahill, is a witty homicide detective who has very little patience with suspects.[5]
Lindsay Monroe, played by Anna Belknap, a forensic scientist from Montana, joined during episode "Zoo York".[6]
Differences between CSI NY and CSI Nevada:
There seem to be more social interactions between main characters outside of the workplace in the NY series.
There are more City and Port related investigations then hotel or street loactions. Streets of NY do have a interesting backdrop, but there are more accident investigations in relation to NY spefic locations, The Garment district. Snob Row, Central Park, etc.
In terms of numbers, there are more beating and Gunshot investigations in NY and more Sex and Affair related investigations in Nevada.
General Info:CSI in NY City have to have worked Metro PD in order to get a Job in the CSI lab, that means they have had to worked on the streets(A beat cop in some way in NY or Other State), and reached or are entering the fastrack for detective status within the NY PD.
Nevada CSI can get fastrack lab experience and operate within the evidence collection and/or law specific science and lab procdures and don't have to be a beat cop in order to be a Level 3 investigator.
