The theme this time is: Super Heroes and Super Villains. So you can do parodies of existing characters or you can make up your own characters. Just make sure if you're making up your own characters, to state their name somewhere so that the audience will understand who they are.

Specifications:
Frame rate: 24 frames per second
Stage Dimensions: 550 x 400 (default)
You may use your own sounds and voices. FatKidWitAJetPak will be available to voice act for some people's parts for the first hour, so be quick in sending in those scripts to him. Obviously, if you have other voice actors available, ask them as well.
Send in the FLA. to me via an uploader site, SpamTheWeb is good choice, providing that your FLA. is lower than 10mb. Use SendSpace or or any site like that if your FLA is over 10mb. Your FLA. must be in Flash CS3 or lower, so basically, not in Flash CS4, because I don't have that. NAME YOUR SYMBOLS WITH UNIQUE NAMES!

Rules:
You have 5 hours from now to complete an animation about the theme of robots. So the collab will end at 12:00am midnight (UK time), 7:00pm (Standard Daylight Time, the time which NG runs on). Violence and mild bad language is allowed, but no nudity of sexual themes allowed. I will not except poorly done parts, so please put some effort into this.

FAQ:
Q: I have just found about this an hour or two in, can I still join?
A: Yes, you are welcome to join even if you don't spend the full 5 hours on the piece, just make sure that it's still good quality, short parts are okay.

Q: When will this be submitted and will there be co-authors?
A: This will either be submitted today or tomorrow, depending on how quickly I can put it together and edit it. Yes, there will be 9 co-authors which will be chosen by quality of parts.

OK, go for it!

Yeah that's right. FatKidwithAJetPak has offered to do some voices for people during the 5 hours animating time. So when the theme is given and you have written some sort of script, send it to him and he will voice it for you. Obviously he can only voice a few parts for time constraint reasons and also because it's best to have numerous voice actors and not just one.

Seems like there is a lot of interest for this edition of the collab, which is great. Don't forget to spread the word about it, if you want.

Sprites aren't allowed. As for the claymation thing, when we see the finished part we can all make a decision whether to include it, based on it's quality.

yeah, just watch out for the file size shooting up. The last collab was 10.9mb so we just made the size limit, so as long as the file size isn't too high I don't see why not.

The 5 Hour Collab V thread will be posted on Wednesday (22nd July) at 7pm (UK time) 2pm (Eastern Daylight time - which is the time Newgrounds runs on). The theme will be posted and participants will have 5 hours to animate a flash in that time and then send it into to me and I'll compile them all into one big collab!

Hope to see you on the main thread on Wednesday. (Also, if you want me to PM you when the thread is starting, to remind you, tell me here and I'll PM you when I post the thread.)

Here's is a run down of the previous 5 Hour Collabs:
The 5 Hour Collab
The 5 Hour Collab II
The 5 Hour Collab III (won a daily 3rd)
The 5 Hour Collab IV (won a daily 4th)

one thing to note is that NG ads makes you more money than Mochiads. Also, for people wanted to get payed quickly, you only need to make $50 on NG ads to get payed as opposed to Mochiads, where you need to make at least $100 to get payed. So keep that in mind guys.

The Clock Crew is a classic NG group, they aren't classified as a spam group. Plus they even have their own collection, they have their own day and they've made some pretty decent movies as well. Some submissions are spammy, but on the whole, they are alright.

yeah, of course. I wouldn't get hung up on that play button thing. The whole point of the preloader was to have a smooth transition between the loading and the icons forming the the scene selection, this effect could only be achievement without the use of a play button.

Exactly, normal collabs are good on the flash forum, but they take so long to finish and by the end, you sometimes lose interest. I love time trial collabs because it's done quickly, while everyone's still interested in it and no time's wasted.

By the way, in response to other people's recent posts, the head's up thread and PM's will be send 1 week before the main thread is posted to give you even more time to prepare and plan stuff!

I was meaning to talk to you about that. There was a big co-author glitch, which is why Techno was co'd twice and such. Anyway, sorry you there was over 10 parts and you just missed out on getting co'd, your part was still awesome mind.
