When I was a kid, I heard that phrase every now and then, but I never really grasped the concept of what it meant. After all, I was only like seven or eight, everything was going great for me. The world was my playground, I had all the time in the world, and life was good.
When I compare my memories of then to now, there's a distinct lack of happiness, a distinct lack of laughter, and a distinct lack of fun. I don't know what to attribute the absence of overall enjoyment to: simply growing up in a world that's always sucked? A general public shift from good to bad? Personal problems masking my view of an actually decent world? To this day, I still don't know.
I've noticed the same thing. With everyday that passes, it gets more boring than the previous one. I remember when I was younger and I could do anything to have fun. Now, I'm just trying to find a way to get rid of boredom. Things seemed a lot more fun as kids. Maybe it's because kids only notice the fun things in the world.
