Need programmer as3 Posted September 30th, 2011 in Game Development

Hey got a project. Need a coder to fix a couple of problems.

I have a women's boxing game that I created and need a bit of tweeking. Its a first person view so you only see the players back and the opponent is facing her.

I have two classes in a game file that need to correspond to eachother using global vars. One class is called "player" and the other class is called "boxer1". They both use global vars to trigger states within the corresponding class.

So:

Player- can punch left (triggers global var "punch"), punch right (triggers global var "punch") and duck (triggers global var "duck")

Boxer1- can punch left (triggers global var "epunch"), punch right (triggers global var "epunch") and duck (triggers global var "educk")

this is what I need:

a paradigm that says:

if the player initiates the punch before the opponent, then the player gets the hit, score and stuns the opponent.

if the opponent initiates the punch before the player, the the opponent gets the hit, score and stuns the player.

If the opponent initiates the punch at the same time the duck of the player is initiated, the opponent does not get the score or the hit.

if the player initiates the punch at the same time the duck of the opponent is initiated, the player does not get the score for the hit.

if the opponent initates the epunch at the same time the duck of the player is initiated, the opponent does not get the score for the hit.

lastly, my display class is not working right. It wont show the text right for some reason.

Can someone fix this for me for like $70 bucks?

Anyways, just get the distance between them, and then check the distance. If it is smaller than their combined radius', then it's a hit, otherwise false.
If you need to further respond to the collision, be sure to keep each object's movement vector, and then just mirror it around the axis formed between the player and enemy.

Thanx!

hit detection as3 Posted May 30th, 2011 in Game Development

I know this is crazy but I have never done hit detection in any of my games! So here is my question:
I have a class called Enemy. This class holds different enemies in it such as soldiers, spiders and servants. I also have a player class. This class holds 3 different heroes (anumari, tek and aknamnen).

I want to do a hit detection between a soldier (enemy) and Tek (hero);

how should I structure my hit detection so it does not come up null? I am thoroughly confused on how to do that.

I find it amusing how some deeply religious people don't realise their in an ocean with other religions.

The problem with your view is that it takes in consideration divisions in the belief of christianity. The fact of the matter is there is only one christian system. The bible gives strict instruction on what to do in every aspect of life. People simply chose to take pieces of it. That is where factions comes in. It does not diminish the religion as being just one with one God. I have personally heard many people who do not believe state their reasons because of flaws of the practicioners. This is a silly notion.

Personally I think it's amazing that you can get away with implying that black people are somehow more genetically drawn to doing hard drugs than anyone else and implying that is why drug legislation is just the government being big bullies.

Drugs are bad anyway, so it's difficult to be sympathetic. Do you have any better examples of laws designed to entrap black people and also explain why other races are not affected by them?

I gave you three examples. So let me repeat one really big one "Jim Crow". Can you tell me when Jim Crow was disbanned? After you do that, tell me that it does not have relevance to the state of minorities in the US.
Real talk...... Its easy to just say people are uneducated until you run into one that isn't. Then you have to prove your findings. Good luck doing that. I await your answer.

In case you are at all interested in my opinion, I firmly believe that Obama has done a tremendous job in keeping his campaign promises (See Politifact for an actual "Promise Scorecard") when you consider the resistance many of his more controversials pushes has been. Signing the bill to end Don't Ask, Don't Tell, signing a Universal Healthcare bill. In my opinion, that sort of thing can only be achieved by a tireless man. One who wants to see our country succeed.

I agree exactly with what you said about fact checking. But I disagree with Obama's accomplishments. I don't think he is a bad president. I just don't think he is a good one. I despise that he still has the patriot act, guantanamo, shut down the internet act, the wall street bailouts, no main stream bailouts. Too many wars.... We are still losing our freedoms daily. I believe Obama could have given us single payer as well. I am way disappointed in him because I had higher expectations. I am greatful to him for opening my eyes to politics. But now that they are open, I can't close them when he does not do the right things....

You are wrong. He did not double the national debt. That is a republican talking point. George Dubya never actually put the wars on the books. He did not count it as our debt! Obama immediately put it on the books once he was elected along with our medical debt. Sometimes it pays to read a history book or better yet. When a talking point comes out of the media, it might be best to fact check it. Lastly where did you hear that unemployment was 6% under bush? Here are the facts:
4.2% in January 2001, peaking at 6.3% in June 2003. After an economic slowdown, the rate rose again to 6.1% in August 2008 and up to 7.2% in December 2008

You are incorrect. I have a degree in the sciences (biology (genetics was my focus)). I also worked for a fortune 500 pharma corp for a few years. I know for a fact that most of these companies create their drugs in their own labs but manufactures their drugs in (guess where) china.

I can also tell you that Monsantos GMO's are designed to be one generational and NOT healthy. They would be black listed if people knew what kinda genetic tinkering they did. I can give you tons of examples. If you wanna know exactly I will explain. Let me know.

Response to: A New Political System Posted May 5th, 2011 in Politics

Your idea is not new but its good you are looking into things now. The one problem I see with your thinking is you are looking to extremes to get your information. Marx... Stalin? If you want to find a more measured approach simply look at economies that are working. Try Germany and some of the Icelandic countries. They have a mixture of capitalism and socialism. Competition is good but you must have checks and balances to make sure the more powerful don't destroy the weaker in the economy. That is currently happening in America right now. Larger companies dont want to compete with mom and pops. So they lobby, lobby, lobby to death and even in some instances go into gov. with the sole intent on writing bills that block smaller companies from competing with them. Look in any major industry and you can find it: Monsantos (big aggra). The former CEO ran the FDA made it illegal to force GMO's label their food as such rendering them indistinguishable from organics. The head of the energy department is a former Big oil/coal CEO. Remember when there used to be many mom and pop oil companies? Look at healthcare. The lobbyist wrote the healthcare plan in the senate making it illegal to buy the same drugs (that they manufacture) from outside the united States. There is no such thing as free markets. Its only regulated or unregulated. The real question is how do you regulate it where people are protected but your don't stunt growth for all?

Easy, when you stick to the slim offerings of your own race and culture, being controlled is VERY easy.

"only the democratic party is for the black man! Republicans are racist!"

It happens to a lot of the whites, too, most of those knuckle dragging, slack jawed "I'm a cowboy! I drink Budweiser and smoke Marlboros! YEEHAW!" dumbasses, who vote republican because "black vote democrat" or worse...

You are wrong on so many levels....
First off blacks are disproportionately imprisoned do to laws made by whites. I can site you a host of laws specifically designed to keep minorities down. Sure it has gotten better but it still exists (just slightly more fluid today). Crack vs Cocaine Rochefellor laws, Jim crow.... man the list goes on and on. If you believe blacks are down because of education you are not reading your history books. The destruction of the family unit came from welfare that was started after Jim crow laws were disbanneded. Jim crow was enacted by the gov. because of slavery laws ending after the civil war. But I guess we should not let facts get in the way of understanding why "certain people" are in the position their in....

Response to: Israel is a terrorist country! Posted May 5th, 2011 in Politics

I completely agree with you. I think Israel is a cool country with cool people but you have to realize that the ideology of ALL these nations are changing. Israel (the people nation and not the geographical nation) was supposed to be the example for the world. She has ALWAYS been surrounded by enemies throughout history. She should stop engaging in war with these nations and allow GOD to protect her as he promised (sorry for getting all biblical). I do not hate Israelites or Arabs. They are brothers in history and religion. Has anyone else noticed that alot of countries have become more right winged in recent years. Unfortunately Israel has become that way too. They have even begun turning on their orthodox brothers and sisters. You can see evidence of this in their news reports. I pray for them and everybody else.

I find it really weird that people were in the streets chanting USA! USA! USA! We killed a man, his son and wives... It amazes me how warped our society has become. Engaging in murder and revenge. Im not saying this guy was not evil. But when did it become ok for us as a nation to celebrate the death of another human being. If we looked in our backyards, we would see a pile of innocent children, men and women who died all over the world from the hands of our soldiers thru the direction of our leaders. Vietnam, South America, North Africa..... We have taken innocent lives for oil, diamonds and drugs. I wont celebrate his death, I would also invite everyone here to think twice about their views and think about what we have done to others as a nation. We have no right to take anyones life. We cannot heal thru murdering other people. It only makes things worse.
