If you're looking to animate in 2D. My first direction would be to point you to Toon Boom Harmony 11. The new Vector/Bitmap workflows are excellent, and put's flash to complete shame. If you want to go down the 3D route. The Foundry Modo is what I suggest. They are making that package better and better putting the others to shame.

Wow, thanks for the list! I'll definitely look into all of them, and hopefully find one to my liking! A few caught my eye and I'm hoping to work with them soon

for 3D, if you're a student you can grab a complete copy of Maya for free, otherwise get Blender

you get them by purchasing and downloading them.

I've heard of Toonboom before and ive been meaning to look into it for a while, thank you for your response!

I'm looking for 2D, and TVpaint looks nice and easy to follow, thanks!

I made a newgrounds account a loooong time ago, I was really little and i loved animations so i thought creating an account would magically give me the ability and programs to animate, which was unfortunately not true, upon making this realization I never returned the site again.

I made a new account just yesterday, after logging into my old one and deciding I'd like to start again, and i still really want to animate and I'm saving up for the program. As for what brought me back, well I guess I was feeling nostalgic and decided to play riddle school again?? I don't really understand why that was. After that I decided to stick around and play new games, Perdition caught my fancy and I just remembered how awesome this place was
