the Sega CD Posted August 6th, 2014 in Video Games

why all the hate on the Sega CD? i mean sure, it had average graphics when it came to games like night trap and the FMV sucked but still, you could play CD based games on a console.

for me, this was like winning a million dollars. although i was born in '93 and my first console was a sega genesis, i still look back and think of what could have been.

the games are fun and some titles are more complex. i love the Lunar series and Loved the terminator. although times have changed, this system still holds a place in my heart. except for the wires needed. so final score 7/10

i also loved the SNES (mortal kombat woohoo!) and i loved mario so imagine my surprise when i saw super mario world. and mario kart.

i can't decide between the two.

what are you're thoughts. no hating or fan wars please.

in it, you play a wolf who must save a female wolf who i think is a little girl and to attack you pounce and have to claw at your enemies to kill them. she dies at the end though. i think it was french or something but i can't find the game. it's also very bloody and in pixel form.

can anyone help with this game Posted June 21st, 2014 in General

i am trying to make a commodore 64 port of doom as well as a zx spectrum version but i need programmers and artists. a lot of it is taken from my story doom episodes. the whole game is 28k but the memory can be expanded to 64k to make room for additional features.

features:

1. 3d

2. custom soundtrack

3. a massive amount of enemies in each level

4. you get the BFG early

i also need people who have played doom fully to help with the layouts and textures, enemies and secrets (if i decide to add any). i really want to show that the commodore 64 isn't just a system for demos and music and low res games. there will be more weapons than usual and a massive waterfall of blood per hit and ultra sadistic ways to torture your enemies. one of the way is to blast off an imps leg and chainsaw the stump. i want to push the commodore 64 and zx spectrum to their limit.

This.
And what story you can possibly find in it especially if it's simple or just made out of the blue to pass it off.

you don't need fancy graphics to tell a story. sometimes all you need is imagination.

action 52 Posted May 21st, 2014 in Video Games

why in gods name would acclaim sell a broken piece of crap like action 52. and worse, it was 200 dollars. 200 dollars for 52 broken pieces of crap, 2 games that you couldn't start or beat and one that was so poorly made that any hopes of making a show on it faltered (game in question is cheetah men) AVGN didn't do it justice. a blot on the NES library. (i personally think contra also goes here but still, that's my opinion. i don't like 1 hit kill games plus the other games let you shoot in any direction other then down left. which is really annoying in hard corps)

hey people. i am making a new server for nazi zombies pc called lockdown. there are 3 rules:

1. respect the hoster/hostess

2. highest points gets to take point

3. (important) no insults, topics about porn, drugs or anarchy (etc) keep it clean and lastly, if you join, you absolutely cannot leave unless one of 3 things happen:

1. extreme lag

2. you have to be somewhere

3. homework, you've been grounded or an alien invasion (just kidding)

i'm serious. also, i do not play custom maps, modded servers or use cheats. people keep asking me: "dreamer66, do you play custom? " my answer?: no, no, NO!

i am sick of all this modded crap. dear god activision, fix up the pc version.

old games and consoles Posted March 25th, 2014 in General

it worries me that the new generation will never know the sacrifices that developers had to make to give birth to the likes of the ps3 and xbox 360.

in order to make Gamers happy, they sacrificed fun and control. to make the parents happy, they bowed to the ESRB and censored the games.

the new breed scorns anything older than the wii and the old ones (me and others) long for the days of the snes and genesis.

while games have improved, the content has not. gone is the creativity that so defined the systems of yore. no more colorful backgrounds, no more adventurous go happy game play. what was once a good time has devolved to whoever has the highest kill streak.

i can't even play zombies without some Douche using the mic, i can't play halo due to cheating and i can't stand how rushed and under developed the single player is.

as a fellow retro gamer i understand the need for change. what i do not understand is how callous the gaming community can be to it. we should welcome it but not embrace it, otherwise we set ourselves up for disappointment.

look at the coleco vision for instance, it had many arcade perfect games for the gamer. the controller looked like a mini phone but that was then.

even now, old games are getting a new breath of air due to PSN and XBLA, however, will we really welcome them with open arms? i will not play an emulation unless i'm desperate or don't have the console. in fact i shun any remake that screws with the basic plot, controls or game play.

i don't mean to sound mean but does it really matter that you have level 60 prestige on COD or have a level 20 paladin on WOW. no it doesn't. gamers are becoming increasingly detatched from each other. what happened to the N64, the PS1, the freaking super nintendo, multitap for gods sake.

i want to socialize not be trapped in my room glued to a game i'll never care for. i want a fellow gamer to walk, say "lets play a match of madden or goldeneye" and plug it in.

that is, to me, the greatest joy of being a gamer: time with friends.

It's October, it's Halloween, and it's time to feel that craving for writing!

THEME

When I first heard about "horror" as a genre of writing, I scoffed at the idea. "How could some text be scary?" I thought to myself. But the stories I've read, especially the stories that take you on such psychological thrillers, the ones that really, physically, make you cringe at the words have changed my mind.

My definition of art is anything that can convey emotions, and what's so beautiful about the art of writing is how you can sway the reader to and fro and sync his emotions with that of the protagonist. So what I'd like to try personally is to have a certain emotion, horror, isolation, or shock sort of seep through the words. A story that gets the reader's heart beating. How awesome would THAT be?

1) Word Count Maximum: 7000 words

Forsaken hopes: The City of the Dead
Fiction/Horror

Men can only do what is expected of them and can only handle so much. Here we live out our daily lives and then we go home and sleep and start the next day. We cannot fear the things that lie in our darkest dreams nor can we wish that they be cast on our most bitter enemies. Mars is safe to only men and men alone. We: feared that the dead were being experimented on: scientists studied to find the answer to the one question we all were wondering: could the dead live again? We became paranoid and overly cautious, asking ourselves if we were going to live in this shadow of fear for much longer. We didnâEUTMt have to wait long. They had unlocked the secret of revitalization and the body stood up and moaned. If only they had not done so. Suddenly, it lurched forward and bit off the lead scientists head and as his body lay shaking, the spinal cord ripped out and his entrails followed. We managed to seal it in the room via the consoles manual override but that didnâEUTMt hold it for long as it beat against the walls and went into frenzy until finally it moaned and died from the poison gas.

I will not be so silent as to not speak about my shock as to what happened next: the body was still there but where was the skeleton and itâEUTMs working organs? We came to the assumption that it had rotted and proceeded to go grab a bite to eat. The other workers were happily chatting and talking much to our relief. We saw a sign that read: Help Needed for Supply Delivery. To where, we did not know but we dialed the number and the woman told us to take it to a small outpost on the edge of Mars that was well away from undead activity. We delivered the supplies. At least we thought they were supplies so we chanced a look inside and a creature suddenly snapped at us and was only inches from my face. These âEUoesuppliesâEU were undead corpses being shuttled to a colony on the brink of revolution so that it would stop. When we came back to base, everyone was dead. After a look at the latest log we came upon an extremely disturbing series of logs:

Tuesday 10:30 am John Williams engineer for mars base. âEUoeI have discovered an egg sac deep in the bases ventilation shaft. ItâEUTMs dormant but IâEUTMll take it back for further study.

Wednesday 11:15 am
âEUoeJaime has caught cholera and now sheâEUTMs dead. I can hear movement in the walls. I think theyâEUTMre watching me.

Tuesday July 30th: theyâEUTMre all dead. The remaining crewmen jettisoned off the ship this morning. God help us all.

End of messages

We heard a crunching noise and the beast came after us, bit me and killed my partner. I soon became one of them/

i hope this qualifies. it's sci fi but still has the zombies intact. sorry if it's a little short.
