Champion of Animation 2014 Posted August 27th, 2014 in Animation

Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and cheered from the sidelines in the Newgrounds Annual Tournament of Animation, 2014!

The final round was one of the most difficult challenges that has ever been thrown at the final two: Animate in the Style of Your Opponent. Both opponents did a fantastic job on their entries for the final, but only one will prevail as the Champion of Animation 2014. StejkRobot emulated the visual art and animation style of ButzboPrud almost perfectly - while ButzboPrud studied and re-created the storytelling and entertainment value of an animation by StejkRobot. The scores are very close, and this ended up being one of the most difficult rounds to pick.

The judges have spoken, and the winner is in.

Again, thank you to everyone who continue to help make this competition successful and exciting! We'll be coming out with some cool stuff soon- DVDs are being planned and new T-Shirts are being produced right now:

I got the impression that people would like extra cash rather than a custom trophy ($500). Some people in the skype chat suggested that the winner should have the choice of the extra cash or a trophy, so we'll probably do that. It takes a couple of months to get the trophy made and shipped, though.

Participants in NATA have donated many times in the past - it's a sort of selfless way of giving back to the competition to encourage others and grow it as a whole. Donating has literally no effect on a person's performance in the contest, except for the "choose a theme" donation perk, and that person isn't participating.
