Awhile ago i took in what you said and well this is the result of my first attempt at Organic Modeling.

DA is the center of the free resource world when it comes to images. granetd they arent professional but some things you find are just quite neat to see.
I typically frown on photo-manipulation unless its a impressively put together morph. heh but your art screams talent and you need to work with better stock imagery. might i suggest using deviantart. theres tons of free resources you can use in your art that is of high quality.

its more of a personal preference to do artificial. I do some biological stuff like simple ants and spiders but they are not textured so they come out like statues. I just like inanimate things but i do make character art from time to time. thank you for your nice comment

As you wish Glassbomb i have accepted your challenge and present you with this.
if you want to see the full size the link is below
also glassbomb thank you for that challenge you helped me workout some lighting quirks i was having with my rendering program.

Regardless, although the main shape may indeed be a sphere, there are other components to the model, which are not spheres.
On top of the fact that he created a 3D model, he also coloured it accordingly, adding shading and lighting. If you look closely at the pod, you'll notice that its body carries a reflection of the cosmos, showing stars and clusters.
So while it may not look as impressive at first, once you take a longer, closer look at it, you can see all the detail put into it.
Thank you for your kind words on my work big-jonny.
also to the others may i ask that you be more polite and civil. I provided a opinion to glassbombs opinion nothing more and i did not mean to be rude if i was. now if you don't mind i need to vanish into the shadows to work on glassbombs challenge. muhahahahahahhaha!!!

this was made using wings3d for the modeling links provided in the full size
and Kerkythea for the rendering. The blurry reflection was actually required to get the right coloring and reflection on the satellite. The bur is also actually a metal material i think it was a steel material that took on the colors of the HDRI background i used to make that color. also thanks on the comments for the quotes. they were hard to choose from the several others i had found on that blog.
all links to my resources are provided in the full size of my image if you wish to use the programs i used to make this.
Wings3d has been my single most used modeling program to this day ever since i started 3d art. let me tell you my first art was not what one would call good. until i started experimenting with other renderers and then discovered kerkythea to which i adore completely.
I have returned with a viewing of my latest finished 3D project. Please tell me what you think.

I rather like the art portal seeing as it can give flash artists some inspiration sometimes. I love ot post on the art portal seeing as i get very broad and happy comments about my work seeing as i'm a horrible flash artist so i make up for it with my witty humor and my imagination in my posts to the portal. I'm constantly improving and love to show off. tho i do have to ask that the way a user is punished for scouting a bad user seems a touch far to harsh. ok he user i scouter gets banned so why do i have to get unscouted because of it. at the time the users art was good so its not like its my fault he did something wrong. other then that i like the art portal.

thank you for the suggestion but i would have to decline such a idea seeing as i utterly despise texturing and making a space ship would require me to do that. lol call me lazy i just don't like to texture.
hehe heres my contribution.

ack!! i'm so sorry i forgot to upload the picture. heres the file.
ts gotten to quiet on my thread so heres a update of my current 3D gallery upload
Its name is Yabou Yuukan which is japanese fro Bravery Courage. originally i liked the concept of dual bladed katanas from animes that i designed my own abstract katana. yeah i did abstract yet again lol.
if you wish to see high-res please go here <--
This is one i made for fun on apophysis 3D Hack 2.06c about 7 months ago.
also love the star and solar eclipse fractals EchoRun

here's one of mine.
Here's another of my Aopohysis images, my other critter.
I call it Plasma Bird.
oh my very beautiful. it looks like to me a bird of paradise from the amazon jungle.

here's one of mine.
very impressive nautilus. by impossible i meant a Julia set or a Mandlebrot. those require a computer no exceptions. you could try to do it by hand but you would need to undstand the math quite well.
At 8/19/09 06:19 AM, TurkeyOnAStick wrote: I'd love to know what you think about this, but I've kind've felt that with fractals you throw in a couple of variables, and the program poops out something random which may or may not look impressive.
Is it possible when creating fractal art to have an idea of what you want to come out, and the program does what you want it to do?
Actually yes. given enough experimentation and enough time to learn the program you can achieve a result just by thinking about it. fractals are a very open ended art form that need more experimentation then actual learning.
At 7/13/09 01:12 PM, DooDooMeaT wrote: Fractals are not art that you created...The computer made it for you...
how wrong you are there. yes the program amde the art but it is the user who tells the program what to make. it is physically impossible for the human mind to calculate a infinite sequence of shapes to the absolute detail.
Here's an attempt at doing a critter using Fractals. Looks like some kind of crystalline water dragon to :me. It uses 12 triangles and 8 different variations.
actually thats not half bad given you tried to work on it. might i suggest tightening the triangles with various weight settings and try to make the colors a bit more subtle.
sigh...i look at these by this artist and i think....hum.
dude if your gonna use Apohysis please for the love of almighty actually provide a fractal image you made by hand! I'm actually proficient in the 3D Hack variant of apophysis and i can spot a pre-gen fractal a mile away. all of your fractals are easily pre-gens using the pre-generated fractals apophysis makes for you. you then just render them out and wala instant art. errrrnt wrongo boy. you need to take the time to actually learn the program and its abilities.
allow me to show you.
this is the high-res version of the image i show you.
This fractal took me 2 hours to make in apophysis 3D. now normally i avoid making a point on art threads. especially fractal art but let me tell you one thing you will gain much more respect if you give us something you made not something the program pre-made for you.
the swords, really nice
rukias bro ( forgot his name :P ) really bad ... :\
Byakuya i believe was his name. the intention for the shape was more of a silhouette with light coming from behind it.

by your command i shall then. muhahahah. say is there anyway i could use NG to maybe hand out my models for free to people wanting to use them i make so many useless things someone might like them. i happen to have a fully modeled skeleton hand i never use anymore.
Ok enough with the clocks. time for anime. heheheh. some of you will easily recognize what inspired this next image. I was bored and a friends birthday was coming and he was a Bleach Fan so i whipped this up for him and even added some graphics to make it more special.

in my experience with blocks. the way you draw them can actually help you learn posing and angular renditions well easily.
