k... that helps... some.

What is the ear attached to? What are you making it for? is it meant to be cartoony? Give us more details so we can give you more accurate help... as it stands, I think it looks all right. Could probably replace some of the lines and loops with color/shading once that's decided... maybe... depending on what you're going for :P

It is.

Rules:

It's much more helpful if we can see your 'attempts' ...no matter how horrible you may think they are. At least that way we have a starting point... so, yeah... start pic is a must!

If it's a cycle of some sort, you'd have the necessary positions/poses so it wouldn't look like a sudden jump. If you just have 5 different, non-sequential or related poses, then you'd need to create the in between/transitional ones.

I was talking about tweening an mc of a sequence. Something like a walk or run cycle... so it doesn't look like the character (in this case a ghost), is just bobbing up and down in place (hovering), but actually ...moving (gliding... is that was ghosts do? I dunno! lol) across the stage.

Sorry if that doesn't make any sense... It might help if we could see what you're working with.

There's nothing wrong with the structure, the thread or any other part of it (well, some parts of it) ...and no one should bump it or recreate it or I will hurt them! (unless they're actually working on one!)

It only managed to produce one (award winning) submission:

I think other people tried to make their stories too big, and failed (*cough *sucho, rnnr *cough*!!!) ...but the biggest problem (imo) was the lack of usable, illustrate-able stories. I was hoping the writing forum would help with that... and I've been tossing around the idea of making a thread there to revive it, but I keep hoping the writing portal will appear. LMFAO!!!!

So, yeah... it's like that :P

lol, that word used to offend the hell out of me. But I guess I've heard/seen it used so much that it's lost it's impact. It's like a white person calling a black person a nìgger. A guy calling a girl a cunt is the ultimate insult. When girls say it to each other though, it's not as bad... but they're probably lesbians anyway.

I wonder how many people I just offended! lmao!!!

Gotta put the code ON the button, not the timeline.

Response to: How Do You Make Hidden Easter Eggs? Posted October 12th, 2010 in Game Development

It is easier to make an invisible button. You could do it the 'alpha at 0%' way, or you could do it the right way.

A button symbol has 4 keyframes. Up, Over, Down, and Hit. (Stamper explains it in his news post herer) ...but basically... if you have nothing in the Up, Over and Down, and just put something in Hit (the area that triggers it), you have an invisible button.

Then, as mentioned above, add the code to make the button go to the easter egg content frame.

If you don't know, then don't answer.

You have to have the frame (in the timeline) selected. If there isn't anything on the stage, it will make a blank keyframe (white O). If there's something on the stage, the O fills to black.

F7 = new blank keyframe

Depending on your OS, sometimes the F keys need to be reconfigured to work with Flash.

The fact that you started this thread with that ridiculous PHOTO (which is against the rules) and then only did 2 solo drawings before getting too lazy to split the rest up... would indicate that you ARE done. Plus, these are only supposed to last a day or two... otherwise they're just lame request threads and I hate those. The idea of a whore thread is to do them quick, but well! Not take your damn sweet time and a week or more. So do it right, or don't do it at all.

As much as I like the idea of making a FINAL collage of all of the pieces, doing it that way from the get go is pretty pathetic. So... you can continue this for the rest of the night as long as they're done as INDIVIDUAL drawings. Not one big post with 6 little doodles.

If you want to put them all together later, that's fine. You can always post any that don't make it here into your personal thread... next month or whenever you get around to 'em :P

So ...draw fast! You have 3.5 hours.

Response to: Shape tweening bitmaps? Posted October 12th, 2010 in Animation

You can only tween one item or shape per layer.

If you bitmap traced an image, odds are you have several 'shapes'. You would need to tween each shape individually on it's own layer (distribute to layers) ...the odds of that working correctly are zero to none (unless your character is super basic like ...pacman.) Only way to get it to work and be smooth is to do it frame by frame (redraw or move everything manually on each frame).

Or are the the '5 frames' of your character a run or walk cycle of some sort? If so, you'd want to make it a movieclip with 5 keyframes... one image/pose per frame. Then you would tween that movieclip.

Response to: Does anyone else have this problem Posted October 5th, 2010 in Game Development

I've heard of it happening when people just drag the jpg to the stage/timeline and use it raw. I always make it a symbol (movieclip or graphic) and only work with those. But it sounds like you're already doing that, so I dunno what to tell you, other than... do a 'Save as...' (v1, v2, v3, etc.) from time to time. That's actually my standard workflow. I usually do it on a daily basis or after I get a big chunk done. That way if things go wrong (file corrupt, etc) I only lose a portion of my work instead of the whole thing. Better safe than sorry! ;)
