You would want WEB Premium. The DESIGN suites are more for print work (indesign is a page layout app). If you're a student, be sure to take advantage of that! I hear the price difference is pretty huge!

All symbols can have multiple layers... just double click them to get 'inside' them.

I rarely have a button symbol with just one layer.

You can right-click a layer and turn it into a Guide Layer. Anything on it will not show in your published movie. You can also hide the layer invisible and uncheck 'include hidden layers' on the Flash tab in your Publish settings... but it's easy to forget to hide again, so I prefer guide layers.

The best way to get things from one fla into another is to open it as an External Library (under File > Import). An example: I have a file with a bunch of random sound effects. When I need something for a new project, I open that as an external library and just drag the ones I want over to the new library.

If you're going to be using lots of symbols across various projects, you can also save it to the application folder (not sure where it is on a Windows pc, but it's in 'Applications > Flash> en > Configuration > Libraries' on a Mac). Then it will show up in Flash under 'Window > Common Libraries'.

Flash comes with a sound fla in common libraries, btw. So don't overwrite that fla or you'll lose the sounds in it.

This has probably been done before, but whatev...

We've all seen the red and blue line collabs... and now there's a green line collab (in the art forum). I was thinking it might be cool to take that idea and make a 'grow collab' (think jack and the bean stalk) ...and as the stalk/vine grows up, leaves and other 'things' sprout from it (like instead of a leaf, it's a face or a bicycle).

I was used to Art and Flash and didn't want to piss any other mods off by unknowingly posting in a spam thread or committing some equally heinous forum crime! I figured this way my shit can get deleted and I can get banned just like everyone else!
