I'm not exactly sure what you're asking for... and I have a feeling you aren't either. Please try to be a bit more specific/descriptive, if you can.

Noob Question About Indesign. Help

Response to: Upcharge a client after quote? Posted February 10th, 2011 in Art

Typically a quote includes X amount of revisions. Once they exceed that number, bill hourly. Just be sure they're aware of it.

I would go with Vero's suggestion of giving them a few faces to pick from... or, you could point them to someplace like fonts.com and let them pick from the thousands there. Then they can purchase it and send it to you, or you can buy it on their behalf for a small handling fee. Odds are, once they waste a bunch of time themselves and/or see how much some of them cost, they'll go with something you already have.

Response to: Noob Question About Indesign. Help Posted February 10th, 2011 in Art

Hard to say. Could be any number of things...

which version are you using?
do you have smart guides or snap to guides/grid checked?
are you using the scale tool or the selection tool?
have you tried the measurements panel?
are things locked?
are things grouped?
are things on layers? if so, are the layers locked?

Response to: Nintendo Posted January 27th, 2011 in Art

Cute. You work better with paper and pencil ;)

You should try redoing this one digitally to practice. What app do you use? Are you familiar with layers? If not, you should really look into using them. You'll end up with a much cleaner final piece.

I wondered the same thing... also, is he supposed to be sitting on something or just squatting? it's a very odd stance.

Is this a known character? or are you making it up? if you are... why would you cover his mouth? the one thing that would clearly say 'dracula' would be fangs, no? I dunno :P

I like the pose you were going for on his upper body & arms, but the perspective/angle are off on the bend of the wrists and the lengths. As mentioned, his legs and feet are a mess.

Lots to fix, but a good start! Could turn into something really awesome!! Keep us posted! :D

side note ...he reminds me of of Maximo ...he's just a regular dude... that runs around in his boxers! Good times! lol

I'm not a fan of these "Tell me what to draw" threads, since they die after a couple of pics.
or none at all ...

...I hate them! Unless it's a 'Whore for a Day' type deal by someone with some proven ability.

The thread would be better for it if you could start it with an image, to show you're up-and-ready to draw.

This threads would be better if it got locked or deleted.

backseat modding!! omg! plz dont ban! :P
Response to: The Totem Collab: Revamp Posted January 26th, 2011 in Art

I'm a bit confused by this whole situation...

As much as I agree that Chameneon shouldn't be running this, it was still his idea and his collab... which, qualified or not, he was given the green light on. To rip it away from him while he was still actively trying to make it work is pretty unfair. Is he ok with this? Shouldn't he have some say ...and at the very least, a guaranteed co-author spot?

As for DemiseAnimation... who decided he should take over? Can he even art? Where's his 'quality standard' setting piece? Can he code? All he's shown is that he can tween, make colorful text and text-based buttons that jump around the timeline. Who can't?!

Personally, I'm not sold... and I'm going to need to see a bit more before I join his "Hero" parade.

it's still Jan :P

Turn on Object Drawing (J) ...it's at the bottom left of the tools panel when you have the drawing tool selected.

This way things won't intersect when layered on top of each other ...and unlike a 'grouped' object, you can still bend and modify drawing objects as if they were plain lines.

To convert an already drawn shape into a Drawing Object go to Modify > Combine Objects > Union. There isn't a hotkey (as of CS4), but you could always assign one (Flash > Keyboard Shortcuts).

It can still get confusing though (as seen below), so you'll still want to use layers ...you just won't need as many ;)

Gather 'round kids... I'm gonna tell you a story!

some of you have probably already hear this... many times. Sorry :P

When I first got my tablet, I hated it. HATED it!!! It felt awkward and unnatural... and nothing I drew looked the way I wanted it to. I was annoyed that I wasted hard earned money on something that sucked so hard! *rage* >:(

It sat there, unused, for a couple of weeks. I'd glare at it while thinking of all of the thing I could have done with that hundred bucks. I finally decided that I HAD to make myself use it ...literally force myself to use the pen and not the mouse.

A little while later (weeks) ...I was at work and decided to play around in flash... and I was like... "wtf??! I can't draw with a mouse! It's awkward and retarded!!!" ...that was when I realized that I loved... LOVED!! my beautiful tablet and would be lost without it!

The moral of the story is... don't give up! Just keep using it and getting comfortable with it. Eventually things will flow and you and your glorious tablet will be like one. Happy for all eternity! ...or until the nib or sensitivity goes to hell! lol :P

There are a bunch of 'Draw a ____' threads here. So if you're stuck for ideas... give them a look. Maybe even try to replicate some of the pieces that you like.

Good luck!
