If playing gameboy games is a problem just spend $30 on a GBA SP.

the problem with gba sp is that it has a fatal power system bug in its design.. if you plug the charger cord in redundantly by mistake, it will eventually ruin your system AND any future battery packs you try to use in it...

not to mention, they stopped making new games for it already.. backward compatibility from new systems is the only solution short of reviving the old.

then there's starwish, book of mages, trigger knight, sonny, fantasy xf, and megaman x rpg chapters 0 and 1.

really cant decide among these.. or anything when it comes to favorites really.. unless you count anime or food, but i digress..

It would really help if people took more than an ounce of brain power to actually look into the issue here. It seems that most of the people who dislike the tm removal are throing out the first terrible argument their mind can think of without even trying to see if it holds up to the slightest scrutiny.

to be fair, i never proofread.. but i wouldnt say "terrible argument"..

plus, there are cleaning products titled "white power" that people actually DO find offensive.. regardless, be it the product itself or something else entirely, it matters not. what matters is the fact that either people take offense, or they dont.

it isnt the lack of a trademark, but rather, the reason given for that lack of trademark, which is the problem.. i may not know much about law, but i do know the obligation a government has to society, if it is to exist as their ruling system..

i would much prefer a semi-anarchic state, where only codes of conduct exist.. but if i must have a government, there needs to be protecting and serving of everyone, from the most deranged criminal or laziest slacker, to the highest ranking authority figure or most successful business person..

i dont believe it possible at this point in time to successfully do so, but it still doesnt change our duty to work towards achieving that end, so that one day it will be. until we do achieve that, we will be under a form of oppression. not the same form of oppression as nazi germany or the soviet union, but oppression nonetheless.

i suppose i should explain precisely why i believe "lynching and slavery" of whites is inevitable if things continue down this road..

in my experience, people tend to vote on impulse. they choose whatever makes the best first impression on them, and if all are equally represented, they choose the one which best appears to embody their idea of progression at the time.

so when the 44th presidential election came along, and nobody seemed to have been better than any other, they (rather ironically) chose barack obama, because they believed it would help the cause of racial equality to simply have a black president. they didnt bother to think over in depth who's policies would have what effects in the long run to try and eliminate their first impression dilemma, they just rode the waves of his calls for "change".

hell, if condoleezza rice had run, she probably wouldve been the one who made it due to her gender..

anyhow, given that its human nature to react to first impressions, which affects voting, its very conceivable, even probable, that, over the course of time, as more and more questionable people are voted into public office, america's policies would slip further and further into corruption. corrupt people are selfish creatures, so they would naturally choose their own demographic to prioritize in improvements over the rest.

now, i can see this having a pendulum effect at some point, when the whites reach a point where they cant take any more, but the cycle would remain in perpetuity. blacks would once again be slaves and murder victims. then white, then black then white, etcetera, etcetera..

the only way to break this cycle is to begin to understand one another, to accept all their flaws, to take actions based on what matters, instead of what one takes offense to.

to change the definition of "offense". to change our society itself, then change... the world..

Luckily mental stability is not.

actually it kind of is, so long as those who practice medicine comply with societal views. people think others to be "insane" all the time, regardless of whether or not something was really abnormal in their brain, just because they've done something controversial.

sometimes, its warranted, since we dont yet fully understand the brain, and do need to look for any new potential disorders out there, however, people go about this in the completely wrong manner, abusing the process..

for example, paraphilia does not exist. nor does oppositional defiant disorder.

You seem to be ignoring the ease to glitch, to glitch sonic 3 and knuckles to do the zip glitch to beat levels in a matter of seconds you will either find it almost impossible to pull off playing normally, or prefer to tool-assist it. Also the zip glitch is but 1 glitch, and if going for numbers of glitches the game has few.

i call bullshit. ive glitched equally if not more easily in every single one of those games than sonic 06. side note, its almost impossible to fall through a FLOOR in sonic 06, believe me, ive tried. only WALLS can semi-reliably send you to your doom.

not that you necessarily stated that it was, i just said that piece about floors and walls to get scte3 off my back..

Sonic 2006 on the other hand has glitches which can easily happen by accident and on purpose, it is almost impossible to go through the game without experiencing more than a handful. This naturally makes it a more glitchy game, as everyones experience playing it will be glitchy.

not if you're not already abusing goodbad bugs, or dont suck so much at playing that you repeatedly get sent flying by enemy attacks, or are using the xbox 360 version of the game, or not trying to trigger the majority of these glitches it isnt. i swear, play fusion: genesis and tell me there's fewer unavoidable serious bugs in it.

i highly doubt you'll be able to back it up with a shred of evidence.

So it is more than understandable that people's experience with Sonic 2006 would classify it as being one of the most glitchy, as they experience said glitches. If they don't experience many glitches in other games they clearly wouldn't classify it as a game with many glitches

if they dont experience many gitches in other games, the pool of games they've played is insufficient to be a good judge. it may be opinion based to some degree under these certain conditions, but it doesnt change the fact that their experience and/or memory are in question.

Anyway, if you actually want to argue that Sonic 2006 has fewer glitches than other more enjoyed games, you are in bad luck as the game isn't liked. It is a simple matter of preference for how many glitches "exist". As it comes from people enjoying the game and trying out new things that glitches are found. That is how Tool-Assisted Speedruns come to pass and how people can beat Super Mario World in less than 2 minutes and at the same time execute an arbitrary code in the game programming. Because people love Super Mario World so much that they found a way to do this and break the game to the point where it will either jump to the last screen of the game or execute a arbitrary code. So surely this would mean that Super Mario World is technically one of the most glitched games according to you, or Pokemon Yellow which can also execute such a code, or Super Metroid which also got glitched to skip right to the end screen? What is to say that Sonic 2006 if played as much as these other games wouldn't also be found to have more glitches, including ones able to skip to the last frame of the game or even execute an arbitrary code?

no, it isnt. people tend to AVOID playing things they hear are "terrible".. thus we see tons more hard evidence for faults found in things people LIKE, such as pokemon gen 1. compared to about 24-32 glitches people found in sonic 06, there are literally hundreds in pokemon.

Sadly, what it comes down to is how much people are prepared to put time into dissecting something apart to find out how to break it. So I wouldn't go jumping on preferred games which are tool-assisted to be speedrunned via glitches and claiming they are worse as a result.

ha. its still jumping on a bandwagon heading for nowhere.

Response to: TM office cancels Redskins Posted July 1st, 2014 in Politics

You're taking this many steps too far. The changing of the name has nothing to do with stamping out discrimination. What it hs to do is with government sanctioned discrimination. A Trademark is an entirely government created concept. Everything that is protected sends a message out to the public that the government approves of the mark and its message. The government in its attempt to not support and saction discrimination has decided that it will not provide protection for any mark that is shown to be largely discriminatory and without other meaning.

no, i'm not. by stating they dont sanction it, they're saying they will not tolerate it. intolerance by the federal government can only lead one way in this situation, and that is to precisely what ive described.

By removing the Redskins trademark all the government is essentially saying is that the government does not label native americans as such and that it will not protect and supports marks that do either.

and by not supporting something, they're working against it. i ask you a simple question: is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow? no says the man in washington, it belongs to the racially oppressed, no says the man in these forums, it belongs to nobody.. no says the "man" in the sky, it belongs to me.. i reject those answers.. instead, i chose something different. i chose the impossible.. i chose.. freedom.

The removal of the TM does not mean that the Redskins have to change their name. All it means is that so long as the name is considered largely discriminatory the government will refuse to protect the name.

that isnt relevant in any way. a government that does not support ALL its people oppresses its people. there is no middle ground.

This is both true and very naively wrong. It is true that i a perfect world the best way to undo the pain of slurs is to capture them and make them one's own. Heck, it has even happened a few times in our very much imperfect world. However, in our imperfect world it's not so easy. The words themselves are pretty meaningless. It is the hefty baggage attached to the words that carries the punch (which is why you'll be very hard pressed to find a slur against white people that actually offends). The term Redskin is largely harmless on its face. When you look at the term as harkening back to the 1950s when native americans were merely fodder for cowboy rifles, they merely smoked the peace pipe and terrified white women, the portmanteau of a color and an organ no longer seems so hamrless. Add on top of the America's not so friendly history with native americans and it gets even worse.

you're speaking of it as if i actually SAID it would be an easy task.. i never said it would be easy, quite the contrary, it will be quite difficult for them. but that doesnt change the fact that a: its possible and b: its the right thing to do.

The words are not the issue here, rather the emotions and connotations that people carry with the words are. When a white person uses the term redskin it may just be a football term to him, but when a native american hears it, it is a reminder of every problem they have had for hundreds of years.

it neednt be so is what i'm getting at.. they can learn to take the words the same way a white person would in time, if they would just try.. it helps that eventually, if they stop telling stories of how bad it was, nobody who remembers what it was like would be left to tell of it.

instead, people scapegoat this as being the reason history repeats itself. we dont need to know the full extent of the past in order to "forsee" the future (quotations used because churchill's "the further backward you can look.." is just a metaphor) , but people refuse to accept this.. all we need to know is the definition of equality. that is all that matters.

It's a balancing act: weighing the size of the offense with the need to use the word. Guess what, the need for ANY American to use the word Redskin is very low, so the threshold for their offense need not even be that high for the word to be considered a problem.

no, it isnt. its their right to use the word, need be or not. we have to accept that. the offense is all that matters, and if the slur no longer endangers them, they need to get over it. its not like a threat, where something may actually happen to them if they ignore it, or an action, where they are directly harmed, be it their person or their property, reguardless of what they do.

this isnt exactly a case of slander here, where people actually believe what the name-calling implies, so it doesnt financially impact them..

emotional impact is people's right to have, but making decisions based on that alone results in poor judgement calls. is the emotional impact founded upon on a real danger is the question we ask here, and the answer to this instance is no.

therefore, the government has no jurisdiction over this.

xenomit is half-right.. not all pedos are molesters, nor is their sexuality relevant to mental health the way i've heard it implied here... however, even if they were, a molester deserves nothing that people wish upon them. not even if they are among the even smaller percentage of molesters who actually did to their victims what people want done to them.

being in favor of gandhi's philosophy, i may not agree with some forms of public opinion, but i think we can at least all come to reason after careful thinking, if we're level headed enough at the time, that if nobody killed anybody, they shouldnt be killed. its just common sense.

to me however, punishment in any form is not humane, let alone a form of justice. we must instead find some way to help them back to the point where they no longer mix fantasy with reality. thats it. nobody needs to be imprisioned in a facility where hundreds die from negligence every year all because some hotheaded family member of the victim wants revenge.
