How to sync music with a video?

I'm making a music video, and I have to sync the music with the animation obviously. What would I do to be able to make sure it's synched? Would I just have to play it out and do trial-and-error playing the music and video at the same time? Or when I add the music to the video, when I do a test run, it will play? This is my first video (of quality) ever, so I am fairly new to animation., I don't know every trick. Thank you anyone who will help.

How can I attain Adobe Flash CS3? I have a demo, but do not know where I can get the full version. I checked the site, and I know CS4 came out, but it says it's $1,599. I really don't have that money. Is that the only way to obtain that program?
