Are you referring to Moonwalker? There may have been a Flash version created recently, but the original was back from 1990, and was created for the Sega Genesis (or, that's what I've been lead to believe).

Anyway, if it was in the Flash portal, then I'd check the Portal listings

If you're using Windows XP Professional, then you can do so by going to:

Run: gpedit.msc -> User Configuration -> Desktop -> Show recycle bin on desktop -> Double-click -> Disabled.

I may have left out a few stages, since I did this a long time ago, but that's the gist of it. Keep in mind that it only works in the professional edition of XP.

Right now, the only way is to ask either TomFulp or PsychoGoldfish for the scripts required, so you can apply them to your Flash, but unless the game is of a very high quality, the chances are that your application will be denied. If you really want to request it, and feel that your Flash is good enough, then send a PM to one of them.

When the system's out of it's beta stage, it will take far less waiting to have them added, and the quality threshold will be a little lower.

Yes, they were very short (and generally completely shit) but I didn't apply for the NGPD until a good 1500 or so posts later, when I had improved on my quality a lot. As an apointed member of the NGPD, I judge new members on their recent posting habits, rather than their posts from a good few months, or even years ago, and your recent posts are not quite up to the standard that users are usually judged on.

Looking at them, it looks like most of your posts are just ways of getting closer to that milestone. The large majority of them are just one line long, and show no effort whatsoever. Try to improve on your future posts, and when you've made another good few posts of a decent quality, and you'll be free to request membership again, but for now, I'm afraid that I have to reject you.

My initial thoughts about that is that Chris is trying to make a reputation of himself as the top spammer, and now that the Ducks have moved on to strictly illegal spamming, he feels compelled to so he can remain as public enemy number one for the admins.

It's great to see more action being taken against award stealing, simply taking a personal lookout for them and only sharing them in places like here, where pretty much everyone have already seen it, giving exposure to a newspost about it on a popular user's blog will draw a bit more attention to the problem Flashes. I've worked my way through about half of the list, and haven't found any Flashes that make it very obvious that they're going for the award, but if I do find any I'll write a sincere review and try to raise the awareness of it against the other Flashes that look like they have little chance of being used as a tool for award stealing.

I'd advise every user here to pay a lot of attention to it, especially on Tuesday nights (seeing as the awards are handed out the moment Wednesday starts in EST).

If you want to collaborate with someone on a Flash, then you should look in the Flash forum, however people probably won't take kindly to you asking to make an animation for them. If you have a talent that you could use to contribute to collaborating with other users on animations or games, then you should be able to present that to others with no problem.

Coming from a retired troll, if you really do find every single one of the people you're annoying to be an idiot, or otherwise piss you off themselves, it can be very funny to see that people are falling for your traps, but most (not all, I actually have respect for two or three of them) Newgrounds trolls target everyone, rather than just the people who are naturally annoying and/or detract from whatever community that is, which means that everyone have to suffer for their actions.

Also, about all this talk regarding the FF getting quite bad, is this all true, or are people making a mountain over a molehill? Last time I was really active in the portal, they showed that they were putting a bit of effort into their Flashes, and I found them all hilarious.

Along with the hundreds of account deletions, there has probably been many portal bans, but they can easily get around it. There are a lot of ways, but Tor is probably their favourite. I know that a lot of raids on the forum have been caused by just three or four people, who keep coming back on a new IP every time they're banned. When they pull them off well enough, it seems like there are a good 20 or 30 participants in it.

Posted: 06/03/09 01:07 PM

At 6/3/09 11:12 AM, TudiRad wrote: I'm not that active either, but I think a regular NG user can tell a "ghost" account from a real one, even if it has little activity.

It's hard to find conclusive evidence, but a few of the things that you can point out to help you are things like:

-The dimensions matching up - A common feature in many stolen Flashes is that the dimensions of the Flash file, and what's been entered on Newgrounds, since most of the time users who steal Flashes simply save the SWF and post it elsewhere, rather than decompiling it and checking it's specs, which sometimes leaves the Flash scrolled in too much or with white borders around the outside. This isn't at all conclusive, but it often points towards thievery.

-Single users filling the portal with high quality Flashes - This may sound like a dead giveaway, but a crew of Flash thieves, named the BurstFilmsCrew did this a lot before their first deletion. They were submitting two (the maximum amount of Flashes that you can submit in a single day) very good Flashes every day. It takes a long time to produce animations and games, and it was obvious that the things that they were churning out twice-daily each took at least a month or two. Nevertheless, they got off with this for quite a while until a group of people (including myself, actually) finally got through to Wade.

-It existing on another website from a long time ago - Just because a Flash is all across the internet, on many other sites, it doesn't mean that it's stolen, but if a website has it dated back to a long time ago, then it's highly likely that it's stolen. An author isn't going to submit a Flash to Newgrounds two years after he's submitted it to other sites, unless in very rare circumstances.

These aren't the only things to look out for, but to help out Flash authors like you, who are having their content stolen, recognising that Flashes that show these things are likely to be stolen and doing a few checks across the internet in order to look for stronger evidence can make a very big difference.

Back when I was a regular over at the Flash forum, many people were experiencing the same problem, and since when those problems started arising, I don't think mine's changed (although I haven't checked it in a while).
