I know what im getting myself into, the only reason i dont have any stunning submissions so far is the fact that ive been learning and now im at a stage were i can take on a project like this. Just leave me to get on with the project, if it fails well done you were right. So just leave it

Wow, way to prove yourself! Because my profile is my life story. Just because you lack the motivation to reach anything for yourself, doesn't mean everyone else is that way. I've got my certificate in COBOL and Web Development, I'm reeling in an intership with Ciber, and I'm currently working on a website with a professor of mine. Now, tell me. What are you doing smart guy? What are your programming laurels that give you the right to disrespect the thread starter and myself? What makes you so awesome you think you can dominate any thread with your mightier than thou attitude?

Okay guys dont turn this into a flame war.
Basicly I want a team of dedicated people, it doesnt matter at this time if i am capible (which i am) of doing this, there gettting there money and im getting what i need, so unless your interested you not needed in this topic. Im looking for people who can get there job done not be prats and flame people un necessarly, this Deathcon7 is trying to help your just posting bullshit which i dont care for. So just leave

Try it out on a smaller scale, with stick figure and place holders among your friends to see how smoothly it functions.
You're a dumbass. Multiplayer programming doesnt work this way. You need to have a master server programmed in java, C++, even VB. It CANNOT be done through seperate swfs ESPECIALLY not on this kind of a scale. How do you expect that to work in theory? I mean really.. show me some code and I'll believe you.

Newgrounds is a community of people trying to help each other, and I'm trying to help you by saying this guy hasnt a clue what hes doing and he hasnt a clue how to program and the only reason you're giving him the time of day is because hes offering everybody money.

Hey dude dont get pissy at this guy, just because you apperently know one way of running multiplayer flash doesnt mean you know them all. Dont bring this thread down by being negative there is no need. I know what im doing i know how this works, ive spent a year learning so maybe you should reel it in. If your only reason for posting in this thread is to flame then maybe you should leave.

How much of each do you expect? Do you need 5 backgrounds or 50? How many creatures do you want and how many animations do you expect each to have? What style should they be?

People seriously considering taking you on would need to know these types of things...

Well i was hoping i could get some interest and people adding me on msn at this address: Skordesigns@hotmail.co.uk

Its going to be a fairly large project so the amount will escolate but im hoping for the sum im paying this will be covered.

At 5/9/07 01:37 PM, Deathcon7 wrote: Okay, i see what you're saying. You're just going to have different swf's hosting each of the files. But that doesn't really change anything. You could host them directly in the same swf, it'd be the same amount of information loading. I meant, how would you have the Users interact with each other, ie. Troll player fighting a human player.

You would figure it's just a process of sending input from the player to player, but then you'd have to be sending info from one player, to every other player, constantly. Even for other tasks like monster hunting. Imagine two players fighting the same monster would you be hosting that monster on both swfs? Now imagine a third player watching this unravel, that player would be hosting the moster too and recieving the info from the other two swfs. See what I'm getting at?

Yes and once again its very valid, But i do still have a solution! the monsters will be hosted on 1 swf the players on another i will be using a variable still for each monster so 50 people could be attacking it and it would still work. This would also work for PvP as a player you can kill would be done by using the same format of being attacked by a monster would. So there will be a few swf transfers but not much to notice!

Your not being nosey you making very good points.
Yes it will be 2d sidescroller, Other wise there would be very bad lag. I have a 100 tick server which would hold about 300 people playing the game very easily 500 would be just okay 700+ would be more of a strugle. And i would be communicating through the SWFs by having all the wepons you can get on one swf all the items on another, so each swf would be a fundamental part of the game. Hope i answered your questsions

At 5/9/07 01:06 PM, Deathcon7 wrote: I'd hate to break up this pretty little party but this thing isn't going to fly. Yes, I have to be the token pesimist. First, you can't create an MMORPG entirely off of flash. The program isn't strong enough to support that. Second, even if you did find a work around for creating the environment in flash, xml, php, sql, etc., you'd still have to deal with the immense server load, meaning you'll be spending out the ass for the server to host your players. Also, security must be considered as well, and copyright infringement is a very real possibility. Just because you're 14 and you had good intentions, doesn't stop a mogul like Blizzard from pressing charges for infringing their rights.

My advice would be to take things realistically. You can't really expect to make a project like this in a few months. It'll take at least 3-4 times that, if not more. You might want to start off on smaller projects so that you actually complete them, instead of getting into the habit of quitting all your projects. Y'know?

You make a very valid point, but unfotuatly i have all this covered...
I own a server which i currently use for counter strike i will just convert and use that. Also it will all be built in flash as it is strong enough to create a program like that just using multiple flash sources. And i read up on blizzards rules, if its classed as un official and people dont have to pay, it isnt agaisnt the law.

This did cross my mind but after consideration if i find a decent artist for this amount of money they should be able to do the style requested, or maybe its me thinking ill get more for my money.

Any interest in taking these positions yet?

I would assure you that you would get paid based on your work not anyone others, Unfortunatly if it doesnt get finished and i pay out i would be down big bucks, but i would pay you for your hard effort just there would be a bonus if it got completed
Hope it helps
