I'm quite sure I won't be active again until after Valentines Day. It is between me and my girls tenth anniversary and Valentines Day. The thing is.. she died last year. This is the first time i've had to live through those two days without her.

Mega Collection, anyone?

I have that and my mom and dad have a Genesis and the Sonic games. I like playing the games on the Genesis better because it's the way it all started. It just doesn't feel right playing it on a PS2, which is what my Mega Collection is for.

Think maybe I could take a stab at it? I've been writing two stories lately. They are Sonic fanfics, but everyone that sees them seems to like them.

At 2/6/07 06:34 PM, OrbitalDebris wrote: Ok, now I've got a question: How good are these guys, really, and how big is the threat they pose?

I've been hearing a lot of differant things here.
They hack one kind of forums.
The site was open to anyone for a month.
They're looking to get enough power to take out something big.
They take out entire servers making recovery impossible.
The sites taken over seem to stay that way and aren't fixed.

So:
Are they good hackers or just using petty tricks?

They are dumb hackers that get lucky enough to have their operation go as planned. After they take the site over, their offense gets weaker because they let their guard down. And that's when me, a few friends, and probably others i don't know join in and destroy their reign.

Are the sites easy targets?

In a way, yes. Since they attack sites with non-payed hosting, the security is basically the same for all forums on the servers. So, if they can get to one Forum, they can get to them all the sameway as before. The only difference is that they get quicker with the hacking because the steps are engraved in their minds after a while.

Once taken over, can the sites be taken back?

They are never actually lost. They just go into the server and steal the sites info. The site is still owned by the people who owned it at the time of the hack.

Who's at risk?

Everyone with a free hosted Forum. A nd possibly a few more groups that I have not seen yet.

What's the threat level?

Low right now. But after they get your forum. They can get into the accounts that you registereed with on that forum. Then they do a dominoe effect and hack into the accounts linked with that registry info. They eventually can spread to all the accounts of everyone that is a member of al the hacked forums and sites.

No, I saw where they were from in a forum topic. I cannot link to the topic, because it has a little malicious coding. But, it said they are an Iraqi terrorist group, but they do almost all their work on the internet. Their goal is to hack enough sites to gain the bandwidth and server power they need to take out military computer equipment. The thing is, they can't get control of the server unless they have all the sites on that server in their command. It'll take different amounts of time for different servers because of the way hosting companies set up their servers and site directories. I don't know how long it would take for them to gain the needed power.
They have hacked many sites, and they plan to hack alot more. They go for what they see as small sites with non-paid hosted forums.

LittleWashu: The quiet version of someone sneezing.
PenguinLink: A really crazy picture in my head I do not want there.
Sterockicy: Read a certain way, it sounds like a new form of Govenment.
Dela: Sounds like a small furry's name.
DarkSoldier: A Soldier that has gone off the deep end.

I think the only one not in that manner is Tails. Nobody says "Tails the fox."

I do. I always address people and characters with their proper title. That's why in my fanfic, I always say Dr. Robotnik, instead of just Robotnik. I did use plain Robotnik once, and will continue to do so, but only because after a while people find it annoying to read the whole title every time the character is mentioned.

Yes, you are right. I heard once that the average soldier takes 1,000+ lives in a 4 year service in a war. I don't know if it's true or not. I just heard it. it seems as if it'd be alot more.

16 and almost dead. Sonic Team only has three ideas left for Sonic. After that, it's bye bye Sonic, and who knows what for Sonic Team, and that division of Nintendo.
If Sonic died, that would totally suck. They'd work on Sega's shitty games, like Virtua Fighter.

Never played Virtua Fighter. But I've heard that it sucks.

You ever notice that if you want to play an old 2D game, you'd have to dig in your closet for your Sega or just go browsing on the internet? It's surprising not one 2D game has been released for years on any console.

Because the production companies don't realise that there are more people than they think that would play a 2D game of some games still. They are afraid of losing money. Which is basically all they care about.

Oh, my mom and dad have a working Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo still. Plus Sonic 2, 3, S&K, Spinball, 3D Blast. We had Sonic 1, but we lost it and never found it. They also have Sonic Mega Collection for PlayStation 2. If you guys haven't noticed the games are the same on Sonic Mega Collection as they are on the Genesis or other systems.

The spam Flash groups tell you guys to vote 0 on their Flashes, so you will say "vote 5!" and then in turn, their Flashes pass, and Wade gets mad at more mass voting, and people get deleted, and so on. In other words, they are using reverse psychology on you, and you are all falling for it. No offense meant.

Yeah that's true. They also do it in the front row the most on the chance that they might get noticed by the band/group and get an exclusive something.
I can understand trying to be heard over the music by others, but is it really necessary to lose your voice for a few days and over time possibly get throat cancer and other diseases and ailments, for just one or two looks, or even a shirt or something proprietary from a celebrity? I know there are rare times when a celebrity will give something valuable to a fan. But it's just that: rare.

They probably are. They wouldn't be as famous without the news and such media providers. The news channels sometimes make the celebrities look like airheaded jerks, and sometimes like a person you would guard with your life. That's one of the ways they get so much attention. The media outlets give them alot of attention and tell every one of there everyday stories and in turn, the fans start giving them attention about what they just heard about them.

The most sickening thing is when a really loved celebrity dies, you get the fans out mourning them like a member of their own family, even though they've never even met them. It's pathetic.

Yeah that does seem to happen alot, especially if the person has no friends of his own, ( I could understand idolising then), or the person(s) are asskissers and suck-ups. I personally don't hang around people that just like someone for their talentor money. Even if they did know the person, if the fan only likes him for his talent; money; then the fan isn't really a fan at all. If they liked the person so much, they wouldn't care how much that person makes, they should like them for them, and not their money; fame.

Many celebrities just want to be treated like normal people. I've met a few celebrities who are rather fed up with the way that the public treats them. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to do your shopping without people wanting your autograph?

This is entirely the medias' fault. Movie actors, musicians, etc. are artists. Their concern is not to be a figurehead, but to create.

Generals, soilders and politicians deserve the fame. They are our leaders and SHOULD be our idols.

I agree. I have also noticed news channels, newspapers, magazines- and a few other U.S. communication sources- mention celebrities on/in them, and they make them seem a little airheaded sometimes.

I do hold people in the Armed Forces in high regards. They are basically keeping our Country and a few others out of the way of total destruction. They risk their lives to keep us, and a few other countries, free. They deserve to be recognised by America and any other place that feels they should.

I'm not saying I don't have what it takes to be famous, believe me, I have a few things that would do great on T.V. and in books. But that's not the attention I want. I just want the attention of my friends and maybe a few critiques of my art, stories, and music.
