Hey, I didn't play with Flash for years, which makes me a newbie with it again.
I'm making a movie and am trying to sync the music with the movie (so when you pause, it stops. I searched around for other topics, but didn't find any that would answer my question. (in b4 "lurk moar")
Now here's the question: on Flash 8, I sync the music by setting it to "stream", but when I test the music, the quality of the mp3 is much worse than when it's not "stream"ed, however, if I don't sync-stream it, music will continue when the movie is paused.
Is there a better way to maintain the sync (so when you pause, music stops automatically) with script / other properties without losing quality?
Thanks.

Damn, Stick RPG was a great game, but it's been a long time since I played it. At that time, I found many bugs, even when it was improved a few times. It's a great game though, you gotta give it credit for all that actionscript.

I haven't had any problems with the system, myself.
Me neither, but I did have trouble with other sites at some times, when my computer rejects their cookies. The computer I am using right now is pretty screwed up, I guess it's been too long since the last time this computer's hard drive was reformatted.

He's one of my favorite artists too, and I don't think he should quit stick figures. First, everyone is good at something different, and his flash talent lies in making stick figures, so I don't think he can do that well making other things, he's probably not used to it. Second, wouldn't it be kinda weird to see someone who has submitted 10 movies that were all stick figures, and then suddenly submitting anime? I mean, Zhu could try new styles and could try to change around his work, just like he's done in his different flash movies - he made an avi movie (XX1), a interactive "press the button at the right time" game with different endings (XX2), a one-perspective 2-d fight that looks like it's a video game, and also a cool 3-d ending (XX3),a nice 3-d shooting game (XX4), a fictional fight with the boss like in XX1 when they both die (XX5), a press-the-buttons-as-fast-as-you-can thing (XX6), a 2-episode movie (XX7&8), and finally, a 2-d fighting game (XX9). I remember all those things, I'm a great XiaoXiao fan.
I dunno, but a both choices - to either continue XX9, or move on to different stuff like more cool 3-d movies is both fine for me, as long as he releases something. Every piece of art from Zhu kicks ass, even XX1. Damn, My favorite XiaoXiao movies were number 7 and 8, it was a good thing that he continued number 7, but damn, I wanted 8 to be continued too.
Congrats, JudgeMeHarshX, is it a good idea to take a screenshot of that? And, btw, was I ever the BBS user of the day - did any of you guys remember, if I ever was? I don't remember, so it either passed me unnoticed or never happened.
Sorry guys, couldn't log on yesturday, too much homework and since I had a group project some of my classmates kept on bugging me to do my work, on MSN.
Well, Homestar is a pretty good site, yeah, I just visited it, it's sure good enough to win a few portal prizes if it's submitted by the author to the NewGrounds portal.
btw, YAY today's my birthday, seriously.

(I feel dirty from typing that number.)
That doesn't work, does it? I don't think it does. Anyway, I don't care that much to have "1337" on my nickname. Being 1337 is not so important to me, it's just to show off. Even if it does work (I don't think it does), I don't think I should stop depositing for a few days. What's the point? If I keep it at that and the exp. point will either keep decreasing, or I will deposit again. 1337 for me is not a big word, it's just a special number like 007.

D'oh! I posted this message AFTER my other post, which was supposed to be posted after this, but I guess when I opened both windows when I planned to reply to both posts. I just typed in that one first, and hit the "Post it!" button before this one.
BTW, my experience points today: 1335. If I only had a 7 instead of a 5! Too bad it's not possible now, like it was before, when you used to be able to not deposit points by daily 10's.

LoL... that's possible.
For myself, I'd prefer Saddam as the boss when he's a crazy nut on a jetpack. Already done in IRAQ ATTACK (there's BUSH as a boss on a jetpack too in that game, if you destroy all the oil), not too original. Or how about Saddam in an ice cream truck, and you with an RPG launcher on a go-cart or maybe a stealth bomber.

Damn, I wish they would give us a number of clicks instead of just a rank for popularity so you can see exactly how many people clicked on your profile...
No... on second thought, that's a pretty bad idea, if you consider all those more people who will spam to raise that number, added to the people who already spam in attempt to raise their popularity.

Speaking of flash on Iraq, I liked IRAQ ATTACK by CarrotClock. 2 alternate endings, either bomb the houses or the oil, and either facing Bush or Saddam as the boss. It's an easy game, but it's worth playing. No use for posting a link, it's on the front page, most of you must've played it already, and I'm sure all of you have heard about it.

1036 and I have a link to my profile in a topic, it has to be some sort of ratio.
If it was a ratio, what would it be? Clicks/day? No, it can't be - according to your profile, you registered in '03, so you should have many clicks/day, and mine should be extremely low, since I registered a long time ago, and didn't make such a big mark on the site.

I'm not sure why but then thier popularit goes down and it is much harder to get up. It might have soemthing to do with ratio's or something but that would explain nemmey's pop.
First, you get a boost of popularity because when you jsut come on, people wonder who you are, so they click on your profile often. Later, if you have posts that don't stund out too much, it drops, because there are more users signing up to NewGrounds and posting on NG BBS. But what I can't understand about Nemmy's popularity, is that he stands out very often, so he should benefit from the new users clicking on his profile. However, my popularity should drop as users join, since I don't stand out much, so that should mean less clicks on my profile, and more users passing my level of popularity.
O yeah, thinking of it, there IS a way to change your EXP, without depositing points after voting on 5 movies, bringing someone to submit a good movie to the site (and put your name in the box) selecting those newsletters during sign-up, or making a profile (last two ways can change ur exp. only once). It's abusing the system in a way, using the power from your points, like voting 0 on all the new movies you see in the portal. That sets your experience points back to 0. :D
At 3/25/03 06:38 PM, Doomhammr wrote: i doubt theres a way to cheat. if there is, you must be a VERY good hacker to get past any of ngs safeguards or whatever.
Yeah, I'm sure that there's many firewalls in the way, to prevent users from changing ur EXP POINTS. And what would be the point of experience pts if there was a way to cheat? If there were no experience points, there would probably be another icon (maybe user changable) next to your name instead of the level icon, either one you upload, or one you select from a library in NG.
BTW, 400th post! :D
Hmmm... Wtf? Nemmy's popularity rank is LOWER than mine? He's a guy everyone notices, has more posts, and everyone knows. People must be clicking on his profile often, while I usually don't stand above the BBS crowd, I'm just an average NG BBS user.
I didn't submit any movies yet (the only movie I made wasn't done, and my friend submitted it on his account, without my permission). Yeah, I reviewed more movies, but you don't get many profile clicks for those, and my sign-up date is about one year earlier than his, but at that year not much was happening.
Look at his number of posts on NG BBS, they almost triple my posts, how could you not get like at least a thousand clicks for that?

Well, at least it isn't spam.
Speaking of "welcome back" messages, sorry DarkBlueFlame, forgot to welcome you back after you got your Internet set up again. I think you did have a "I'm back" topic, just like your "Last Day" topic, but when I found it, it was already dead, I don't like reviving temporary topics like that just for a single post, NG BBS users get pissed. Great you could get Internet set up again so fast, I thought u would be interested in this topic. Sorry that I had to post again, guys.
BTW, about the "missing in action" list that was posted a while ago, I think everyone from the list returned, all except Judge_DREDD, but no worries, he may come back, and I guess is most likely to.
When I'm gone, noone cares, and when I come back to a big topic (after posting many posts before, and becoming well-known in the topic) a few days later, reminding people that I have returned. I get a welcome back message sometimes, and I think that's good enough. When people leave for a while, just wait, and if they don't come back, remind them when they post in another topic if you want to, and that's as far as you should go if that person is a really big part of the topic.

Of course you're a regular in NG BBS's Politics Forums. You're always welcome to post. You have good ideas, plus, you have been here for a while, and I still remember your old topic (White America) - sorry I didn't revive it, I tried, but people were getting pissed at me and Ted told me to stop, lol.

Well, I guess it was a pretty dumb thing to do. Mods are like cops on NewGrounds, and well, most of the time when people get caught by cops, their planned escape route does not cover some things they don't think of. In other cases, they just mess up their plan, or do not have a plane at all.
At 4/1/03 03:31 PM, implodinggoat wrote: The dude who posted that is at level one and has 37 posts. 37 posts is far to few to give a shit about the moderaters. That is obviously a back up profile, thus he doesn't care if it gets banned.
Yeah, obviously it's not someone's primary account, just an extra account that was made - it's obvious that he expected a locked up topic and a ban. Hmmmm... Can mods find your ip?

Damn, I'm only Elite Guard Private, lowest rank for elite guards, and I've been at this for a while, and this rank seems pretty low when you look at the list for all the ranks... I stopped blamming and saving movies a while ago, I only do it sometimes so I can vote off my daily 5, to deposit my 10 experience points.
At 3/31/03 01:59 PM, Ted_Easton wrote: What I really dislike is all the "mystery locks".
It when you go to post in a topic, and it's been locked for an unknown reason.
It may seem to be uneccesary work for the mods to state a reason, but I think it would go a long way towards battling anti-mod sentiments.
Yeah, sometimes I see topics that I don't think should be really locked. But, most of the topics I see that get locked are locked for the right reason - repetition of topics (NG users should stop bugging other users for reviving dead topics, it prevents the forums from getting a lot of topics that have the exact idea of topics that have "died", but were not deleted, besides, revived topics already have some old posts, sometimes with good points and ideas, to start the new posts up), spam, unreasonable agressive manner, and many other things not helping the forums.
So, mods do deserve a lot of credits for clearing the BBS from junk, just like blammers clear the portal of junk. I know people do get pissed when they get banned and have their topics deleted, but it's usually for the right reasons.
Sometimes, mods should leave reasons for why they lock up a topic, but many times, it's pretty obvious what the reason is. And, I have seen many messages left by mods in locked topics, like "This topic already exists, go to...[and then the link]".
Whoa, too much text on something that's not even so related. I got too many ideas in my brain, I should really think less.

Yeah, I just looked over the posts, and when I think about it, it does seem to be pretty weird. That is pretty strange, cuz it's a totally different story in different topics. I guess I'm a little confused too.

LoL, I noticed there are less and less AOL cds in my mailbox. There were a lot of CDs before, but they (I think completely) stopped sending them, and they also stopped including those CDs free in computer magazines, so I guess that is obvious that evil AOL is going bankrupt. PRO: no more mailbox spam, no more trash on roofs and the streets, one less common waste item to deal with. CON: no more projectiles to throw. :(. Ah well, I guess overall, it's still a good thing.
Yay! I got banned yesturday for 5 days by Stuporman, but after I E-mailed him he dropped the ban, since it was my first ban. Phew, I'm lucky. (I can't say exactly what I got banned for, lest I get banned again, but it wasn't spamming, wasn't being offensive against another NewGrounds member - I hardly do that stuff - I was trying to help someone - seriously helping, however, I included something in it that can be used against NG to sue the site, but anyway, thanks for dropping the ban man, if you're reading this, I won't do it again).

Batting average is the average of your movies' scores. You have to have a few movies to get that. When you get that, it shows the quality of your average submissions, and can give the user an idea of what you usually submit.
