I nominate JoS for ebing a dickwad. Remember that thread he made to make fun of Pilot Doofy, or how he calls people names if he percieves them to be of a lesser intelligence.

I think I heard something about this afew weeks ago. I think it was somethign they did in one small city and after that crime went down, whether the two are connected I dont know, but they pushed the idea to the government. I think thats how this idea was started.

Are you aware that soccer was invented first in england?
It was named football.

Guess where your version comes from.

Actually American football comes from league rugby. Its lsightly different than union (the more common form) but it is rugby none the less.

As human beings shouldnt we question everything? I mean what would happen if no one questioned Adam Smith, then several other economic ideas wouldnt be around, namely communism and the NAsh equlibrium.

Response to: Child abuse Posted July 11th, 2004 in Politics

Actually you can prove it. Certain behavioural patterns are present as well as neglect has many visable feature such as untreated injuries, malnutrition, inappropreate clothing.

Response to: Child abuse Posted July 11th, 2004 in Politics

What happens if it isnt physical or sexual abuse? What if it is neglect or emotional abuse?

Response to: Child abuse Posted July 11th, 2004 in Politics

Actually I am fimilar with how CPS and similar agencies work. Most cases of abuse the child is not removed from the home. Usually its only when its intentional or sever abuse. Moat abuse comes from a non-house hold member, so that person is nolonger aloud contact with the child. Or sometimes the parents dont know how to properly discpline their kids, so they take a parenting course or they would have to loose the child.

Yes it will change things, his name will have to be removed from the ballot. Arnold is a good choice for a rep, since he is from Austria.

Response to: death by lethal injection ect. Posted July 11th, 2004 in Politics

A couple points. First lethal injection is not a humane way to kill a person. It works in stages, not just one big needle. The first chemical is a paralyzing agent, which paralyzes your body, thes econd chemical is a muscle relaxent, which stops your diaphram from working. In essecnce you are smoothered, unable to breath, while concousious and very aware of whats going on. It takes several minutes to work as well. Is that humane?
Second of all, how can a killer be DNA confirmed? There DNA/fingerprint was on the knife that the killer bought that day, maybe they touched it in the store. DNA inside a rape victim that was killed. Maybe they had sex without a condom and rthe killer used a condom. DNA under the fingernail, maybe they had scratched the killer in an earlier incedent (say a gf and bf and the gf had been scratching his back before, but it wasnt the bf who did it).
Third, how can we expect the defendent to pay all court costs, that would be friggen expensive, a baliff, judge, lawyers, DA, court reporter. Most people om death row cannot even afford to hire their own lawyer.
I believe that everyone deserves a second chance. Maybe that person has conformed or been rehabilitated. Repeat offenders their chances are less and less, but most kilelrs are not pyschopaths. Many it was an emotional re-action (ie catching the cheating spouse and killing the lover) or DUI type incedents.

So a concerned citizen is one who sits back and allows other to do the work? So what about the citizen who see's a house on fire. Does a true concerned citizen sit back and let others decided if 911 should be called? What about the concerned citizen who notices a lack of recreational programs in their area for children. Would a concerned citizen organize something with the other neigbours, or would he let city hall decided if they should build a rec center or not, that wouldnt even open for another 4 years?

Response to: Hitler: Concerned Citizen or Psycho Posted July 11th, 2004 in Politics

Can a psycho not also be a concerned citizen?

A million a year isn't much to ask to pay for a man who is in charge of trillions, is it?

These men already are (in most cases) millionaires. They dont run for office to make money, they run it for the power trip.

Its somethign that offends me. I am not homosexual in anyway, but when someone uses that expression the are using it in a negative way, something they dont like. It would be like me saying that's negro or that's chinese.

Response to: The Official macroeconomics thread Posted July 11th, 2004 in Politics

I think the ood chain reference is very good, and does fit it well. Rouge countries are like the antelope, the US is a lion. The antelope dont always have to be cautious around the lion, most of the time the lion is asleep or just making noise. But when the lion does act, it not only kills its smaller, weaker opponent, which will always be the weakest, sickest, oldest or youngest memeber of the group it tears them apart and devours them.

Response to: should hobos be treated better? Posted July 10th, 2004 in Politics

Which do you think are smarter, homeless people or blue collar workers? Yes blue collars get treated like shit and make very little money. Hobos get treated like shit and have no money. The big difference is hobos have something bluecollars dont. Its called job security.
