The whole point of anarchy is that the people police themselves, without direction of the government.

And each person has thier own idea of what policing is therefore we can tell that utter chaos would develop.

Because you belong to a police force that runs itself.

Because that sure as hell is going to make people want to stay in mob that risks life and home every night to other mobs.

And these services would still be around, just not monitored by a government.

Are you serious right now.

For Christ's sake people, what the hell is wrong with you.
How idealist are all of you.

Uhm, yeah ya do.

you don't need a large bureaucratic force to do that

Because clearly the United States under the Articles of Confederation is the most sound economy that ever existed.
Now, this is one that I really want to hear from you. Please, tell me how it doesn't.

Not really. I still acknowledge we might need a police force. I'm arguing quite a bit from the devil's advocate position here, in that I would personally prefer a police force that isn't politicised; it's the politicisation of it that threatens the rights of the individual.

And who would maintain this said police force, who would fund them( in that case, what would be used for funding) who would set up the laws that they are to regulate, who would make sure that they stay in line witht the laws, who would promise trials and judicial review to the criminals.

I don't understand people who love the government, or who don't think there is too much government, or don't think that the government perpetuates itself. Just imagine if the government went on strike. How long could we survive?

The government can't go on strike.
I mean seriously, what goes through your head beyond Utopian communes.

Response to: Should we still have Columbus Day? Posted April 24th, 2008 in Politics

First off, the Phonecian story is currently fiction and not fact, ditto with the Chinese one.

But regardless, there's a reason it was still called the new world after columbuse's voyages. Any earlier explorers didn't pass the word on.

Response to: government has no right Posted April 24th, 2008 in Politics

Actually it does have those rights.

Marriage and sex isn't a protected right and since the taxpayer pays for social security, medicaid and medicare, they also have the rights over smoking and drinking.

Secures the rights of the individual while mainting a sound economic policy.

Simply put, your living in a dream in which you think people are going to help each other out and all this bullshit.
Usually, I consider people with your views no better then children discussing how everyone can live in peace if only the printed more money for everybody.
Set your head straight mate.

Response to: Is Communism Relevant? Posted April 22nd, 2008 in Politics

I don't think it's been relevant since it's first inception.

It's usually an already broken idea that's just pirated and raped by some naive peasants and a few intelligent despots that want power quickly.

Nothing really.

If people think the Government is actually doing something and actually caring, then the Government is set.

FDR in the Great Depression for example.

Response to: Lethal Injection Upheld Posted April 22nd, 2008 in Politics

Why not simply look at this economically and see that unless we radically step up the amount of exections that use this overly expensive and drawn out process of lethal injection, it's not really worth it.

I mean, were keeping around a system that is wieghing on an overly stressed budget already to kill less then a hundred people a year.

Why not try to make it economically viable, or get rid of it.

Response to: Request for Economic Enlightenment Posted April 22nd, 2008 in Politics

First, just think of the tax rebates as distractors. Yes they may help stimulate the economoy and give it a slight buzz around the time they recieve these checks, it's not going to fix the problems that are currently in place. All they are is to make sure that Joe Schmoe stays content and quite and starts carring more about American Idol and less about Government.

In reality, my view is that the government can fix itself with a little work, but not in this term. Bush doesn't have enought time on his hands to do anything, beyond putting hopefull plans on a balanced budget and to slowly minimize our trade deficit.

Really, it depends on who is in office next.

That's the one major obsticle to keeping our current medical system. We have this problem today because the economy is slowly deteriorating and business's are being forced to cut things that used to be expected.
I've commented on this and suggested solutions and regulations to help in too many other threads to continue. But that's it in a nutshell.

We could help guide that.

Business's are given tax breaks and exemptions for offering medical care in thier business package.
Why not add the same incentive in someone's tax returns as well?

To be fair.

I loved Standarized testing.

It lasted for a week, which was a week of guarrenteed no homework, it was incredibly easy and thus you finished very early and had plenty of time to sleep.

It's a perfect combination.
