We arent talking about standards that work for one state but do not work for another. We are talking about criminal law. Explain how a unified criminal code would not work? How different is Maine and California that something should be legal in one state but not legal in the other. Is California somehow so fundamentally different then the rest of the country that they need to have their own penal code? You all have basically the same background, prodiminatly Christian. This isn't fucking Lebanon (which has a unified penal code if I am not mistaken).

Because as we have seen, Lebanon is at the top of the fuckign world right now. Simply put, I"m a residence of one state. I vote for that states legislature, I vote for that states Governor and I pay taxes to that state. I expect laws to be accustomed to the residents of this state and not have someone from another state write them.

Also explain to me how the federal government creating the penal code for the country makes them bloated and incompentent? Its just a law, it doesn't mean they are going to have to enforce the laws themselves. Local, state and federal law enforcement agencies will merely carry out the United States Penal Code, rather than the state penal codes. I Serioulsy see very little groudns on which you have based these assumptions.

I can't expect my government to due my taxes right, how can I expect them to write laws that I have no control over?
I mean, I'm letting people that I didn't vote for decide the crime the punishment and the nature of the crime. Last time I checked we lived in States in a Union, not just a fucking union you dip.

No, then you get fucked up discrepancies. In one state the crime may not even be illegal, while in another you could get life. Example, sodomy laws pre-Lawernce. Idaho 5-life, Michigan 15 years max life for repeat offense, Oklahoma 10 years just to name a few. At the same time most states had no laws still on the books about sodomy.

Could it be that thats what those residents of the states wanted?
I understand your hesitancy of allowing people to have a say in government but eh gad mate.

I woul rather live in a place where I can elect the people that write my laws, not have someone from Kentucky to do so. Regardless, why the fuck do you care? You don't even live here?

While some things are covered now under federal law (drugs, tax evasion etc) most things that do not cross state lines are responsibility of the state, not federal government. I think criminal code should be the sole jurisdiction of the federal government.

Why?

Why make a Federal government even more bloated and incompetent.
We are a Federalist government and power is shared to local state legislatures that have rights to make thier own laws as long as they dont' transgress the Federal ones. The Federal government can't make a comprehensive set of laws that can meet the standards for some states such as California, and then enforce those very same laws on Maine.

It's simply an easier method to lay the power to make local and regional laws to the people of that region.

There is for all federal laws due to the incorporation clause in the fourteenth amendment of the United States.

But States can still have there own laws (as long as they don't infringe on Federal laws) and are able to prosecute them in thier state.

So why didn't they write it into the constitution then?

I mean, if they gave thier lives for it, why didn't they? They put in other ideas that they gave thier lives for; a weak central government, a representitive government, rights and powers to the people, why didn't they add it if it was such a big deal.

Regardless, your not even arguing law anymore on a debate on taxation and the powers of legislation. Your bringing up things that have no legal basis and expecting us and the government to now give them legal grounding because you would like to.

If your subject to going on emoitions in a legal debate, you need to change your defense.

Alright, this just came to me.

Give it a minute.

Life is made up of all these small bits of small talk, pointless exchanges on the weather, asking how the person giving you your coffee is doing and all of that. We've been brought up to think that such an ideas are good, full of common decensy and nice thoughts and happy emoitions.

But why do we lie like this. Why do we surrond ourselves by pointelss thoughts, empy talks and meaningless conversations. Why do we not direct what is truley going on instead of acting.

These Acts, that we all participate in have become us. We act when we go to work, the gym or anything. We never let who we are out and instead put up a facade instead.

This brings to mind then, if all of life is composes of these acts and facades then couldn't life itself be a act or a facade and just a compisation of all of this?

Response to: GM Crops, your views? Posted May 9th, 2008 in Politics

We've been using GM plants for generations upon generations.

One could argue that by selecting better seeds and grains and thus steering crops through evolutionary phases to get higher yealds, that it's already been going on.

This is just a new advanced procedure for a system that we've been doing since the foundation of Agriculture.

People starve all the time, whats so new about this.

This is great business for the midwest and southwest United States. There bringing in great revenue for this food.

The market is dictating where the food is going and it's currently more profitable for farmers to turn it into biodiseal then it is to simply sell it as food.

These don't work.

People just buy the same amount of gas as they would have in any case, just a couple days earlier.

Maybe a better plan would be to not drive your cars for those three days thus not needing to fill up earlier.

Response to: Jeremiah Wright's Naacp Speech Posted April 27th, 2008 in Politics

This man is indeed correct, we should take these black children out of these schools and send them to schools with all black children.

In fact, we should do that with all of our public features. Blacks shouldn't be allowed to sit with whites in case of mixing thier learning, ditto with waterfountains.

But at least we can be sure that they are seperate but equal.

This kinda sets up a dangerous precedent doesn't it.

Say, the smell of alchohol from an open car, or on clothes or from someone's breath can give basis to a DUI charge.

Or what about bomb components. Say someone has an amoniam-nitrate based bomb in one of thier bags and a bomb sniffing dog comes by, would that also be unreasonable search and siezure.

It just seems to set up to many dangerous precedents.
