In the distant future of 2014 I plan on going to collage for animation/art.
Since it's still the distant future, go for a standard sized intuos. That's good enough to last you through the next years, even good enough to be useable when studying animation. Or, well, that's the case with me anyway, I believe I have an intuos3. If you can spare the money though when you're a (few) year(s) into studying and are convinced you will put it to good use, go for a cintiq. Awesome stuff, but buying one now would probably be a waste. In two-three years better equipment will be on the market than what there is now, especially if you want something as professional as a cintiq.
Why is there such a shitload of whoring threads suddenly?
Anyway, since you're so desperate.. Draw me Justice.
Or a hairball from your bathtub's drain hole that's come to life and tries to stab you in the ear while you're sleeping.
Draw the concept of consciousness.
Ohh, this sounds great! And it should be great practice too. I'm going to try my hand at it.

Mmm, sexy plague buboes.. Also, thanks!

I really love your style! How do you get such clean lines?
I didn't know my lines were that clean? Well, mostly I tend to start with a rather large scanned drawing (scanning wood sure was something else) that I resize in the end, and even then I zoom in to like 300% for the tiny lines and details. And of course Wacoms help.

I really dig this piece.
And you should be happy, I'm an AVAT judge ;D
Yay! :D
I thought I'd put my second avat entry in my own art thread also. So here, dancy dancy skeleton.
Finished! Hahh. The thing is actually painted for the most part on wood, with refinements in photoshop. Way more effort than probably needed, but it was fun.
Since I have been working on this for far longer than the look suggests (and because my little bro suggested it) I thought I'd post a late-timey WIP. I should get it done before the deadline though.
I'm not too happy about the ghostly figures in the background, I'll see if I can get a solution for that, and for the most part only a few details and darker tones are going to be added. I think there's also going to be a change in the size proportions of the image. If there are suggestions though, I'd like to hear them of course.
I'm working on my entry for this round, Sketchy.
Apologies if you actually drew this, but I have my serious doubts about it. Looks more like an effect on a photograph to be honest.

You know, I was expecting to see a total tomboy judging from the self-portraits, but you're actually pretty cute! :o
Pleasant surprise get.
You sure you weren't actually wearing those clothes? They look so.... natural.
Pfrt, it's probably the lace and plumage.
And drawing clothes over a photo is actually pretty easy. Come to think of it, it would be a good exercise for people who have trouble with drawing clothing.
Heh, I feel a little stupid for actually doing this.
I don't know what's up with the hat, I had no inspiration I guess.
Well, at least people can compare my self-portraits to a (...semi-)real picture of me, if they want to.
Hola ..nuevas bases?

Huzzah!
Mister J-qb Sir, could be I just missed it, but did my second submission make it through?
A lot of people seem to be forgetting the 400x500 size restrictions..

Looks awesome to me i think you should finish it, would like to see how it comes out. really appreciating the detail.
Thanks! I think there are a lot of things I should finish. I just really don't know what to do with that one since I kind of suck at drawing landscapes.

Or maybe I'm just not on very often.
You should post a picture of yo' mug, so we can compare ;o
Yup, still do. Meh, it's vacation, sometimes there are things to do besides posting on NG. And I don't know :D It'd feel a bit lame to just post a photograph of my face on here. Maybe if I find something fun to draw on a photo of me.

Given the general lack of knowledge about the finer points of the chronology of the last thousand years held by most people, I imagine you could have just done your idea and not told anyone.
Probably, yes. Still, I'd rather know beforehand and if necessary change my artwork than risk being disqualified afterwards.
Though I think I'm just going to go through with it anyways, the theme is recognisable enough methinks. I could pm a judge with the details though, if it seems necessary.
Ah snap, I just found out my cool idea for this round is probably not allowed. The signature theme I have wasn't around until the 1600's, which is technically not medieval times anymore.
.. Crap.
I don't want to give away what my central theme is, but just to ask: Is it okay to use a theme that's technically not in mediaval times anymore, but still percieved as such by (I think) a lot of people?
Another self-portrait, but one for the Self-portrait collab this time.
In looking up that previous picture I found another one.
She and I have a.. very special relationship.
Hah, I just remembered a doodle from a while ago of me and a friend. It's about 2 years old but still recognisable to us.
The text is in Flemish, but it says something like "Nom" (obviously), "Will you stop it already" and ..."Friendsies", or something.
Okay, I have one done. Too bad it has to be so small.
Anyway, here's a sickly and skinny version of me and my two rats.
In hindsight, don't allow my previous entry. I'll make one especially for this collab instead of a sketch out of my sketchbook.
Haha, this is a little weird piece out of my sketchbook. Here. I hope it looks finished enough.
I have a retardedly large amount of self portraits... There's one in my art portal submissions at the moment, but it doesn't look right in the dimensions for this collab. I'll see if I can rescale some others.
Thanks guys.
Since I've been a bit lazy the past couple of days (weeks?) I thought I'd update with a sketch that was my first idea for the first round of AVAT. It only has half the linework done, but you could see it as a probably forever unfinished WIP.
