wouldnt that turn out almost identical to the original NG food chain?

Response to: The Food Collab! Posted May 31st, 2008 in Game Development

I know! You wouldn't see 'soymilk is good for your eyes' written on a milk container now would you? So yeah it must be liez. previews soon.

Response to: Cardboard City, a Collab Posted May 31st, 2008 in Game Development

haha awesome, do that rain idea, really clever!

Response to: The Food Collab! Posted May 31st, 2008 in Game Development

haha, ya! just started a part, as in, just opened flash and changed the document size/frame rate :P

animating in a square is weird. I dunno, maybe my eyes are a little off or something but it doesnt seem square! It almost looks as though the thing is taller than it is wide. haha.

also, apparently soy milk is good for your eyes. I read that on a box of soy milk. pretty cool.

*as you read this I begin to actually work on a part.*

Response to: Cardboard City, a Collab Posted May 31st, 2008 in Game Development

lollz, vapourware. funny. but yeah that wont happen.... :_:

yeah, do another part, that'd be great! I like your style. so yeah if you have time, go for it!

Response to: -Skate Flash Club- Posted May 31st, 2008 in Clubs & Crews

cronic I'd call you a waste of space if I wasn't so madly in love with you.

Response to: The Food Collab! Posted May 31st, 2008 in Game Development

YESHERS! we do now have milk, I'm very pleased :)

I have a few things I really want to animate for this! YARRHAOGKH! You've got a knack for making awesome collab themes booglez. they're always simple things, but things that can also be animated really well. It makes for a lot of animators wanting to participate, which is really cool.

didn't we just have this conversation on MSN? ;)

haha, no I posted this first, when you brought it up I was like, hmm, I bet nick didn't read the thread!

so yeah, we still have lots of room for parts everyone. the song is more than five minutes and right now we have just over 100 seconds of content which is almost two minutes, so theres still more than enough room!

but we also dont have to fill up all five minutes of it, I expect we'll go to three or four and then wrap it up if there aren't enough parts still coming in. at that point its like squeezing a dry sponge for water, which is kinda pointless.

Response to: -Skate Flash Club- Posted May 31st, 2008 in Clubs & Crews

ORLY? thats cool.

Response to: Cardboard City, a Collab Posted May 30th, 2008 in Game Development

Yeah that looks awesome! To define some of the sections try going over spots where you would normally see lines with the thinnest eraser tool, thats what I often do. But if you have other ideas, use them instead!

So what do you guys think about the Tank Winners? :O

Response to: The Ahhrrr! Pirate Collab Posted May 30th, 2008 in Game Development

hey Bertn, this is all I have time to do, with SFC3, Cardboard City, and other projects taking priority. hope its usable!

here's the fla, good luck compiling it!

Oh tell me, do you live in dreams?
You're not exactly what you seem to be
Yeah, we want to follow Ellesun
But come tomorrow we will want to run from Ellesun
Oh no

You're so fashionably late
And you're wearing all that black like fate
You wanna run to the forest all the time

She's got a ring of serpents
One red, one green, entwined
She's got skeletons in her closet
That always seems to fall in line

I wonder if she's lost it in the head
Yeah, she just wants to get you into bad
Just take another prisoner, Ellesun
Oh yeah, just tell another lie until it's done
Oh my

Your name cannot be traced
And your theology is out of date
You wanna run to the fairies all the time

She offers you a ring of serpents
And she offers you her hand
It's not like love or friendship
It's something hidden

Oh the meetings on, it's such a secret circle
Secret circle of, secret circle of, secret circle of...

Oh tell me, do you live in dreams?
You're not exactly what you seem to be

congrats winners! both were really deserving. Hell, I thought pretty much all the nominees were really deserving, but I'm glad these two one, thats great.

Response to: The Food Collab! Posted May 30th, 2008 in Game Development

Haha, no, my dad likes it because he says its good for us, but the only reason we didn't have milk was because no one had been to the store to get any :P

Response to: Cardboard City, a Collab Posted May 29th, 2008 in Game Development

well yeah but submission count and trophy count aren't really what people should be into newgrounds for, idealistically, animators come here to share what they know, and have things shared with them. Its a place for collaboration, which should NOT involve a constant sense of 'yes, Im going to get co'd!'.

I come to discuss things with my peers and collaborate with people I haven't known prior to the collaboration. The beauty of a community like newgrounds is that you can be from anywhere, and basically have any skill set, (flash, audio, reviewing, foruming, modding, creative writing on userposts, etc.) and still come and show others what you can do and learn how to do it better.

stat talk also just generally brings me down because the ground its based upon is completely unreal. Your skills are not defined by how many NG awards you have (as awesome a system as they are, no disrespect to Tom and the gang!), but by the quality of animation you put out into the world. A lot of people with huge animation and flash vocabularies have won few or no awards at all, and they shouldnt be judged by that.

so to sum up, do whatever you enjoy doing because you enjoy doing it or because you want to grow. Not because you think it will win you a daily feature.

love you all <3

As I'm sure you all know, Nicholas Deary cannot resist an opportunity to participate in collabs that Morrowdays has already joined ;)

I should really be keeping a tally, its happened a few times now, eh nick? :)

Response to: Cardboard City, a Collab Posted May 29th, 2008 in Game Development

Yeah nick, although large member based collabs may bring in more trophies, winning them that way isn't nearly as satisfying as winning them through a well earned hard effort.

I agree with both of you. But mostly kyle because although you're right nick, kyle's argument holds emotional value, where as participating in collabs for the sake of trophies does not.

On another hand entirely, it is really pleasing to win an award on a collab that you've been a big factor of, which is why its always important to put 100 percent into a collab if you want to be really happy with it in the end. So I wouldnt say its cheating if you work just as hard on your collab parts as you would on a solo submission. After all, by participating in a successful collaboration, you are just as much a factor in its success as the next guy, and thats part of what makes collaboration so great. Its everyones work, collectively.

Response to: -Skate Flash Club- Posted May 29th, 2008 in Clubs & Crews

Can I come to oslo with you?

Response to: Cardboard City, a Collab Posted May 29th, 2008 in Game Development

haha, secret society ^_^

no I'll put up another preview soon, I've been kinda swamped with a science project but hey! Its due tomorrow so as long as I finish it tonight it shouldnt be a problem much longer! And I will finish it tonight, don't worry guys :)

if people are looking for other collabs to join so they can make it big in the NG collab scene, (xD) I recommend the FOOD collab, being lead by TheBoogley. He also lead the face collab, and it turned out really well, and this should be no different!

Not to say you should quit out of cardboard city of course. But I know at one point I was really into doing lots of collabs at the same time, so if thats you, go for it!

Response to: The Food Collab! Posted May 29th, 2008 in Game Development

SO. I just ate a bowl of cereal. Only downside was that we don't have any milk right now so I had to have soymilk on top. Normally I drink plenty of soy milk, but it tastes bad on cereal. bad.

maybe I'll do a part about soy milk?

also booglez Im plugging this thread over in cardboard city, I figure some ambitious collaborators will want to have a few things going at the same time.

keep it up guys, I liked that pop tart explosion a lot, even if it was a little short. ;)

Response to: -Skate Flash Club- Posted May 29th, 2008 in Clubs & Crews

HEY GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can someone, please just say like "Hey okay, here's the SFC3 info" and then like name all the guys who's joined and the specs and stuff... Can you, moro or something do that. PLEES?

cronic just posted the dimensions and frame rate, as for people joining, Im assuming its as follows:

Tommy
Marcy
Cronic
Lochie
Jestar
Moro
Spacewalk
FreeRunRobert
Mraw
G-F-D
G-Force
And I hope McJesus comes back cause he was doing some cool stuff. so thats a pretty good line up we've got, if everyone listed takes part, which they will.

I think we can look forward to a good 6+ minute collab, if the average part is 30 seconds. which seems likely, I know a lot of you are probably going to do something longer than that. But McJesus might not because he hasn't been around for a bit.

but yeah, cool stuff. Congrats on the Double IMacs twins!

I'll post a picture of my setup in a bit, its actually pretty similar to yours tommy/marcy, you guys are just using literally the products one level up from mine. I'm on a power PC mac G5 and I have a slightly older tablet.

Response to: -Skate Flash Club- Posted May 28th, 2008 in Clubs & Crews

It isn't very good, his legs are the only things that move, for one thing, work on that first and then we'll find something else to tweak.

Response to: The Food Collab! Posted May 28th, 2008 in Game Development

hey, no problem boogers!

I really like B2B's apple part a lot, it still makes me laugh every time :)

for a part from me Im thinking of doing junk food in a gang, so like, a bag of chips wearing a bandana and some cookies acting all tough and holding guns or something. I like the idea of bad food being gangster.

Response to: The Food Collab! Posted May 27th, 2008 in Game Development

Sorry rockin, thats definitely not going to get in, there's no color for one thing, but you could improve it by using a thinner brush and a background. try to make things look more realistic too, I couldn't tell what most of the things were.

so Im going to try and make something this week. I have to wrap up a pirate collab part though, so I dunno...

keep up the good work guys, loved the muffin B2B.

Every 5 days my friend.

Me and morrow just got back from our trip yesterday. It was pretty fun.

lolz lopy you, a guy brought up speaking english, should know more english than a norwegian!

I guess you were sort of right. Marcy, you wrote 5TH, which is fifth, so in that case the sentence would be 'every fifth day' but most of the time people dont bother with the 'th' after a number when referring to an interval of time, so instead they say 'every five days'

just thought it was funny :)

got back from the cottage. was fun. enjoyed it. made these three little figures that I'll probably blog about. pretty cool stuff :)

rawr.

I dunno, you've got no animation that we can see, so if you do make something good we'll use it, but otherwise we wont wait around for you, k?
