I don't know how this came up in a thread about Gay Marriage, but I'll say it again, I still believe same sex couples should be alowed to marry. Any church that decides it will not condone & marry same sex couples ,should have the right to say they will not do so.

I just wonder if it's possible, they raise money for the Tamil people, let's not forget people, that there are a group of people who define themselves as Tamilians.
Let us also not forget before a slew of Western Nations stuck their busybody noses & ideals into these people's business there were two distinct nations there on that Island.
The Tamil Kingdom in the North & the Sinhala Kingdom in the South . It was the British (surprise, surprise) who combined the two for "ease" of administration !

When the British left in 1948 they handed over power to the Sinhalese. WhoThen immediately began to attack everything that defined Tamil as a Nation, including the adoption of Sinhala as the only language, instead of English...Tamils had to learn Sinhala or they could not be employed, they are restricted from higher education, recruitment into the military is almost exclusively Sinhalese & they did & continue to this day to carry out human rights abuses against the Tamil people's .

This is not the easy , good guy's against the terrorists.

Finally got a day off at the same time as my girlfriend.
We put a new canopy up over our back deck, overlooking the Shubenacadie River.
It's 11 ft 6 inches by 25 ft. All the planters have there transplants & I'm ready for our very brief summer. (usually comes around the 2nd week of July & Lasts all the way to the middle of August.)

Call me a whoossey if you want, but I just couldn't lift that canopy into position by myself .
Ah summer, the time for eating burned meat, tinfoil wrapped vegetables, & cold beer mmmmmmmmmmmmm just lovin' the ides of clod beer on the deck this afternoon ; while being eatin' by the black flies.

There are indeed many Buddhist schools of thought which condemn homosexuality.
This is baed on the fact that Buddha condemned "unlawful sexuality" and had no desire to define what that meant. But the Vinaya mentions homosexuality as a sin.

I work as a rigger & I've seen some shit fall at work , as well as scaffolding systems , truss systems & crane supported sytems collapse, with the engineering analysis and accident reports ,,,it's required learning in rigging classes.
You have a structure that has an unstable mass near the top of it. It cannot just fall off the top of the building & come crashing to the ground...because there is no force pushing it from the side. The main force acting on any structure on this planet which is standing on its base is GRAVITY.
For the building to topple over on one side or the other, the supporting structure on one side NEAR THE BASE OF THE STRUCTURE would have to fail first, then middle support would possibly loose it's supporting capability, that would cause the building to fall over (like a tree notched on one side & cut in from the other)

Otherwise the weight of the upper structure would BECAUSE OF GRAVITY fall down onto the still supported structure below it , causeing an effect called "shock load" & shock load depending on the distance of the drop starts at 3 times the amount of the load (Remember your rigging courses kiddies, a one thousand pound load bumped up or down one inch relays 3 times the weight of the supported object (load) on the supporting structure) & this amount of force goes up depending on the distance of the drop.

I may not know anything about the liquid steel in the WTC 911 disaster, and I can't say with certainty that it was just a terrorist activity, or a gov. plot ; but I do know about shock load & how a structure behaves when supporting members fail !

Great idea! I'm sick of everyone talking about the "sanctity of marriage" when it's a government involved institution. I thought there was supposed to be a separation of church and state, therefore how can the government become involved in something so many argue is "religious"? I don't mind gays marrying one another.

;
My mom sure does.
She has a real problem with the (her) church possibly going to marry gay's.
I personally believe right along with Lady Graces statements above.
But even though I am not a person who is actively involved with any religious group.
I have to apply the same rules to them, as I would like to see for gays & that means that if the members of a particular religious group... lets pick on the MARTIAN religion today.
IF the MARTIAN Church does not want to allow Gay Marriage, then fine they don't have too, neither do any other religion's group that doesn't want to perform a same sex marriage.

After all fair's, fair If gays wish to marry, I see no problem with that.
IF a particular religious group doesn't want to marry same sex couples in their church, I see no problem with that either.

That may limit the choices for same sex partners to be able to get married, but it still allows civil marriage's , & any religious organization that DOES want to perform a same sex marriage.

After all, why would anyone want to be married by a particular religious group that doesn't want anything to do with you?

No one knows how to melt that type of steel short of a Foundry ( I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm pretty sure an Iron Foundry being moved on site to melt steel would probably have been noticed).

NO plausible reason have l ever seen explains all the melted steel found in the wreckage "esp." the lower levels of the 2 towers. Hell the infared imagery showed these hot spots days later.

How...did all that structural steel melt.

Maybe just maybe if that was answered, figuring out WHY those towers fell could insure it never happens to another highrise anywhere else.

As for the thermite I threw out there, I know that was lame, it won't "stick" to an upright beam, but maybe there is something else, or some other way to do it....remember , it has to be something that can not only get hot enough....it has to be able to sustain that long enough to melt through a massive upright member.(actuall a whole bunch of them !)

It wasn't just bent & warped & heat stained from the fires, it actually melted & pooled in the lower levels.

The only way outside of a steel manufacturing plant that that type of steel can be turned into flowing liquid metal, is by an out side source of heat ie; thermite, or high preasure cutting systems.
Everyone knows that the temperatures required to make that steel flow like a liquid, could not have been caused by the burning contents of the building or by the jet fuel.

That's what accomplises are for.
That's why there are "organised" gangs/groups of people who build networks of other people, stashes, drop points & pick up areas.
I have a 'little bit' of personal knowledge on how these things are done.
Police officers who have been running long term investigations are spending thousands & thousands of dollars on these investigations & they have to produce arrests to justify their expenditures.
So that is probably at least part of the reason for the 'fishing expedition' of that raid.
They were unable to get any real evidence, or at least any that would hold up in court.
This guy & his friends had been under investigation & it obviously wasn't going anywhere.

This is one of the reason's I believe that these types of Invasion/Search's should be held under a microscope before a warrant is issued.
NO HARD EVIDENCE= NO WARRANT.

I have been raided before. They took me down by surrounding me on my motorcycle in broad daylight. No mistaking it was the cops.
I was ratted out , someone they busted, was told he could get a better deal if he helped the police out... I was named as a dealer in coke & they searched (fuck they trashed ) my home. they took the heads off of my babies dolls, they unrolled all the socks & underwear in the house, they searched the toilets. Tore all the kids closet & room apart (Like I would ever be stupid enough to leave drugs where my baby might get into it) dumped the contents of the canisters in the kitchen into the garbage, dug into my wife's potted plants & dumped dirt etc. right on the floors & carpets...but they didn't open the damn fridge. My wife was sitting right there with the baby & they didn't even open the damn fridge. If they had of they would have discovered all our coke....except it was bottled Coke, bottled by the Coke-a-Cola company. they found nothing because there was nothing there.

I was taken down in the street because of some past dealings with known violent criminals & I had been up on attempted murder charges ,previously( there was no attempt to murder, it was just a fight where some weapons were used).

But still, If they thought this was a really bad guy, they shoulddn't have been in his house like that.
Bad Police work shouldn't mean they can just bust into your residence & destroy your stuff & intimidate & put you & your family in jeopardy.
They fucked up & a cop is dead, it is very unfortunate, but I still believe the Jury acted correctly.

I also hope that these types of raids will come under stricter guidelines so this doesn't happen in the future. Its obvious the police had some kind of evidence or at least a 'Rat' giving them information...it just turned out to be 'bad information'.

Even if we just use it in our furnaces, we'll take his house ,my house & hopefully Mom & Dad out of the heating oil nightmare....prices are just over a buck a liter for home heating
Has the house already been overhauled for efficiency? There's a lot of fairly cheap ways to prevent heat from escaping, so long as you've got a little capital to make the initial investment.

I have insulated my place, it was a commercial building when I bought it, so the interior walls were unfinished (wyou could see the Post & Beam construction), removed the siding & put more exterior insulation on last year, when my new R2000 vinyl windows were installed.

My brother says that he has a rough estimate of around 40 cents a liter, that's the supplies & heat (you need to heat the mixture), cost for gas to pick up the used oil. Not included in the cost is a space to do it , but I own a large shop & we're going to put an out building up if it is feasible. He pays $1.50 a litre for diesel for his Truck. Since we're going to do it on days off, it means we will be paying ourselves by the savings we make.
The cooking oil is used but it is "free" in the extent that we don't have to pay to take it.
Also there doesn't appear to be any waste that the local liquid recycle depots won't take.

As wrong as killing cops may be,

;
I have 2 members of my family who are in the police forces.
I don't think killing cops is right, I do believe shooting intruders in the wee hours who invade your home can be justified.

They raid the house of a "drug dealer" who only has enough stash to get himself stoned for a few hours? Less than a gram of cocaine and a gram of pot is stress relief, not drug trafficking.

;;;
Yeah , to all of us with a bit of knowledge, its nothing . To those with the brain damage that comes from years of believing everything the government tells you about DEADLY BAD DRUGS , a spec of hashish to small to weigh after it's been tested (becaus ethe test destroyed it all) is still DRUG DEALING ! ! ! !

mindless sheep, can't help themselves, the brainwashing has gotten in too deep & the Bleech has done its work .

So what, it only proves the point that having all the gun registration in the world will not stop criminals from procuring & using guns.
Also if this so called drug dealer (a gram of coke & a couple of grams of pot do not a big time drug dealer make) ! If this guy was such a player, why is there no charges of trafficing placed against him?
Why didn't the police use a street take down on this guy & then go into his house ?
I'm not takin gthe side of criminals over the police here.
I am saying that police are using tactics & outright fabrications to help them attempt to put so called bad guy's in Jail.
I am completely against police fishing expeditions that take away we the people's right's to illegal search & seizure. I am completely against the state being able to without just cause, invade my home (or your home or anyone else's home) when all they have for real HARD evidence is the possibility there may be drugs etc. there.
Police conduct these type of searches far too often in my opinion, & we are seeing more & more innocent people being unjustly treated, hell they have even invaded completely innocent people's homes ,destroyed their doors ransacked their house & been found to be in the wrong residence -Just happened last month to a almost 70 year old grand mother in Cape Breton-, Nova Scotia.

I say enough is enough. If someone is that dangerous, Why do you need to attempt to take him down in the middle of the night? If the house is full of drugs, wait & see if he attempts to move them, wait until he leaves the house & pounce on him, then go and search the house.

a couple of years ago in Halifax, they attempted the same thing to put a child into social services care, a 1am raid with a door take down, the owner let loose with a shotgun blast & the cops ran for cover, when it was over , his mother was dead from a heart attack. He & his wife were jailed for firing a gun at police officers. they lost their perfectly healthy baby (it was later found out the reports were false & the baby was in no danger)
But now its too late, they are convicted weapons offenses, all because police couldn't come up to a door in the daytime & use a warrant for social services to sieze the baby. A midnight raid for a healthy well fed & these people were not drug dealers. Hell the only offence was the mother had attempted to keep her children from their biological father & had lost that case, so now they come after her for her new baby & her new husbands baby ! Totaly unrelated & their actions make both of these people criminals with violence because they attempted to protect their home & child in the middle of the night !

You'll never get me to agree with the powers of the police to become absolute.
In a free democratic society, we should not have our rights compromised on assumptions & possibilities.
It should have to be proof.

The fact the trial judge felt there was not enough evidence to support the warrant is irrelevant to the search warrant.

Actually it is.
It shows that a "friendly" judge can easily be swayed by possibilities & not facts.
I feel this is a very relevent point.

The simple fact is you have them for different reasons. You have a shotgun incase someone breaks into your house. He had guns incase people tried to get him for selling drugs. There's a difference in context.

Sorry dude but everyone I know has unregistered guns.

I have a shotgun because I have & do hunted pheasant, upland birds & geese
Maybe you never heard but the majority of Gun Owners don't trust the Goernment & believe the gun Registry is a scam by government to fingure out where all the guns are, who has them & then they can pull an Adolph Hitler Nazi move & go around at night storming into innocent people;s homes & removing their guns.

I'm not talking one or two people here....I'm talking about the whole damn village, sure people (not all of them ) have registered a gun or two...but not all of them.

There is a great deal of mistrust of Government in this area , hell in most area's & people refuse to believe that the police force alone can keep them safe.

If you look at the amount of murders commited by criminals with guns & not being solved or stopped by police ,how can you blame them ?

I would like to try again to clarify my point.
IF THIS GUY WAS SUCH A BIG TIME PLAYER ! ! ! why didn't they have any hard evidence on him?
Why not just pick him off the street in broad daylight & thenm raid his house ?
Why do a smash & hopefully grab something on him, risking themselves & his family ( EVEN IF HE IS A CRIMINAL>>> THEY ARE NOT)

The cops were as usual throwing their weight around, & it was completely unwarranted, hell it was a fishing expedition. That shouldn't be allowed.
