There are some great places in the Atlantic Provinces & if you ever come this far north (not to mention a lot further east)
It would be well worth the added expense to go to Newfoundland, the place is amazing....not to live , hell I wouldn't wish that on anyone. But it is an incredible place to visit.
Gros Morn National Park, Trinity Bay, the Avalon peninsula.... go whale watching , chip ice for your drinks right off massive icebergs ... It is best viewed in the summer , like late july to august ... then get outta there fast !

Camaro, it seems to me , that this is a crime that has a lot to do with colour....but IMO it isn't all black & white (especially as 1 dead officer was hispanic , the other asian backgrounds)

As for the mental capacity issue, there is the frustration of many people of all colours & intelligence levels who see the laws being upheld in very different ways. If you or I killed someone, there would be hearings...99 times out of a 100 a trial of some type etc. Where the police are seemingly not held to the same standard of legal transparency.

I have no idea if the police should have been convicted of a crime ....but they certainly should have been taken through the same process as I would be, if I shot & killed an unarmed teenager in the street. Or if I strangled a man in a citizen arrest for 'possibly' selling loose cigarettes.
I see it as the deaths did not justify the crime committed. A trial where the story comes out IMO would go a long way to calming people with even a hint of common sense.
As it is now, its seen as a cover up, cops can kill people for little reason & face no consequences . I don't have concerns about the colour of those who were killed or did the killing, my concern is that people in authority, who are suppose to protect us .... are killing those they swear to protect & face no transparent proceedings to show if what they did was justified or if they are guilty of injustice & then should be penalized for it.

That as I see it is the real huge problem ...on top of IMO totally senseless deaths.

Well water quality is something that depends on many different factors.

link should take you to the photo , the worlds largest open pit gypsum mine is in the upper right (about 10 clicks from my home) A place called Milford Station NS. So any water from a drilled well around here is hard as a rock & milky from the gypsum .
Many of us have either dug wells , or older property's have access through direct water lines in the Shubie River which runs between the #277 & the #2 highways. My place is off the 277 with one side of my property line being 343 feet along the river.
So my dug well has good water , it only gets murky if/when the river raises above its banks & floods over the top of my dug well. I also have an established waterline right into the river, so i maintain that, although presently I am not using it.
You are no longer allowed to install those, but are allowed to maintain or upgrade existing systems.

Heading up to Cape Breton where I was born & many of my clan live, there are places in the highlands where the water squirts right out of flaws in the stone, you can drink it without doing anything to it, but its damn cold ....freeze your teeth & give you a slushy brain freeze even on the hottest days of summer.

This IMO is what needs to change. If you are harming others, or about to cause harm, i.e. you have a weapon then using the required force to stop you is IMO understandable.
Choking a person to death for selling a few loose cigarettes, is nonsense & even if officer isn't incarcerated for it, he should definitely be let go from the police force .... he's on a power trip & can't tell what a reasonable amount of force or punishment is required.
Shooting an unarmed man , who has come through a door way , that is unlit (through no fault of his) as recently done by a rookie cop, should be all that's needed to remove that person from his job as a cop, he is unfit to do the job.

There are good cops, lots of them. The best way to keep them & their profession held up as being of high standards is to immediately remove those who fuck up. That way they don't continue being one of the 'bad' cops & the cop who choked the suspect to death has had multiple prior charges by others for illegal arrest , illegal searches etc.

Guy's ever buy or eat a free range turkey, you know one that can actually walk around a yard, eat bugs & plants as it chooses, can jump off a fence & not break all the bones in their legs ?
They taste AWESOME, & there is absolutely no comparison to their factory raised, antibiotic growth hormone fed ,edible oil product injected, frozen "young butter balls" that are labeled as turkey.

In Canada its a Provincial jurisdiction , so while it may be allowed in Alberta ,where the oil sands Projects are.
Here where I live in Nova Scotia the Provincial Government has outlawed it & except for a couple of test wells that were more for the science & monitoring what happens during & after, its not been allowed since

It was recently brought forward again in the last year for permits etc to do it in remote areas (which is pretty much everywhere) & was denied 100%.
What is allowed else's where in Canada , I really don't know. I don't pay a lot of attention to what other areas of Canada are up to , they're too damn far away

Well I initially owned a personal proprietorship , that I incorporated (on Sept 11 believe it or not) almost 20 years ago.

Before that when I was in my 20's I was in a partnership in a business, then I went solo.
So there is
1-solo proprietorship,
2-partnership
3- corporation (so your assets are completely separate from your company assets )
4- Society for nonprofit enterprises (a Union fits here) a Union can't "own anything" but it can for a society of its membership & then that society can purchase a building , property etc.
5- Co operative, where the group create a business owned & democratically controlled by them, to service their needs &/or benefit them .

That's all I know if for up here Camarohusky.... but I am not an expert on that. I just have experience on what I need to do to more easily conduct business, especially with Companies from outside Canada.

To start with many of the Companies i do Business with are USA based or European based. These companies do not want to do business with unregistered companies in Canada.
You see there was a time you could register a 'business, self proprietor owned & operated' run it for under a year bankrupt it & the companies you did business with could be held liable for the taxes that , were not collected from bankrupt company, that said foreign business was required to pay.. . probably did pay & would now be dragged before CRA to prove it 7 could be required to pay again.
So once word got out to companies that do business here that this could happen with 'sole proprietors, they became reluctant to do business with them , even though the majority were legitimate.

SO now any company that's CFA , (Comes From Away) asks for 1- your corporate registration number, that is searchable online with the Provincial Registry of Joint stocks & Deeds.
Shows you are a legitimate registered Corporate company.
2- your HST number, shows you are a tax paying registered company with the Federal Government
3- A, T 2200 form - the coversheet of that return from the latest tax year showing you are in good standing with the tax man.

This then gives the outside company a show of due diligence that who they are doing business with in Canada is a legitimate company .
In my case it then makes me an attractive supplier of rental equipment, labour, consultation for rigging etc etc.
AND let us not forget
Makes it extremely easy for me to then put vehicles, property, have bank account(s) & credit cards in my company name. Hugely advantageous to WRITING OFF unbelievable amounts of expenses the average worker can never dream of. Being a corporation of 1 has so many advantages , that they outweigh the disadvantages by a very large margin.

And its all legal , as long as you file correctly, which is why I use an outside book keeper & An independent accounting agency, which in this country is obligated by their charter (chartered accountants) to immediately report to CRA (income tax people) any discrepancies, questionable dealings etc.

I've been doing it for so long now , I don't really know how it works for regular workers, except I see their paysheety breakdowns & how much of their checks gets sucked up by the tax man !

(because a workers pay can also be garnished & I would then submit the required garnishment to the agency (court, tax office etc)
If one of my workers doesn't work ....I'm not required to submit money for taxes, EI or medical etc ....only on monies the worker EARNS ...then whatever is left over ....they get .

Saying that My Company paid 40% in payroll taxes is bull shit.
If I had no employees, except for example myself. I wouldn't have to submit anything. I don't pay EI for myself , I'm not allowed to
I don't pay income taxes on my wages, until year end , when its decided by my accountant how much I made .... then & if I decide to pay myself the minimum I can make before taxes, I can & have worked & paid nothing in taxes, Corporate or personal for a year , on mid 6 figure company earnings ( notice the word EARNINGS)

payroll taxes are not company taxes, they are the taxes paid to the Government OFF the the employee's earnings. So its not the Corp paying taxes, its the worker. Get your facts straight.

Also, profit is either reinvested into their business, which is good because it leads to economic growth (more jobs/higher real wages ceteris paribus), or it gets taken out in the form of income (executive salaries, shareholder dividends etc.) which is subject to an income tax anyway.

You know little or nothing about corporate taxes & the loop holes involved my friend ....I own a corporate tax paying business. I am the owner, CEO & as a non traded business 100% of the stocks in my company , belong to me.

I drive a car & a truck, both completely owned by the company, the truck is 100% tax write off, maintenance, insurance, fuel etc. etc. etc.
the car is at 50% , receipts are kept logs done on both vehicles.
All rentals are tax exempted. Meals 50kms or further from home (I purposely live 60 kilometres from my place of business) are tax deductible 50% or more for me 100% for business . Tools, my purchased property's, shop expenses, offices home office, furnishing , safety gear etc etc etc
clothing, computers, smart phones , the plans to operate them, etc etc etc etc.

My tax bill for a business making in the mid 6 digits last year was under 4% when compared to my Gross income, sure it was considerable higher on my "profit" ...but i didn't make much of a profit & by using an independent outside Accounting firm to go over all my business expenses, earnings etc. who in this country are obligated to immediately report to the Government tax regulators ANY perceived instances of irregularity. I once again got all my T-50's & 2200 documentation as an in good standing tax paying business.

So unless 'you play the corporate game' don't talk to me about how much taxes corporations pay in comparison to their earnings. the ability to defer monies is another perfectly legal money option to offset profits for tax reasons.

The ways business can cut their taxable level a worker cannot even dream of is borderline criminal, but with paid professional "tax advisers" accountants & book keepers who take you to the line, but keep you from crossing it, so that you remain legal. You will be amazed at what you can spend that is legally 'tax deductible' !

In my trade as an example, guy's pay at least 50% of their pay check to taxes, U I (unemployment insurance, workman's compensation & Government pension plan...plus if you are in a medical plan or Company pension plan you pay more)
So I see guys who make $32.00 an hour, who are working between 55 & 60 hours a week, earning around 40 hrs @32.00 = 1280.00 plus 15 hrs @ 1.5 is $48.00 per hour = $ 720 in over time = 2000.00 a week or more (remember there is no premium time on here for meal penalty or double or triple time etc, which happens a lot.)

So on a 2 grand earnings a week 850 - 950 is their usual take home.

That's a lot of your check to see disappearing every single week ....& you hear the banksters & CEO's make millions, but pay little or nothing.

Complaints IMO are justified.
If we are going to pay taxes, everyone should have to pay an equal share. or the system is flawed

Then there is the waste of taxpayers money. That is a massive problem. Politicians give themselves large raises, but say workers that same year can only get Cost of living increases, or Minimum wage earners get even less.... As the system is presently set up, complaints are justified.

In this area, I am hearing that getting a family doctor is really tough to do, there is not so much a shortage, as many are not taking new patients.
I have one so I haven't experienced this problem ...yet.
As for getting things looked at ,its prioritized by severity, if its an emergency, you are dealt with very quickly .... if you go into an emergency dept, with the sniffles be prepared to spend several weeks hoping to see a doctor, not that one won't be available sooner. Its just that they take great pains to make sure you wait as long as possible. Longer if they can. Because we have a lot of people who feel an ache, because for example) they were out digging a hole for the first time in 10 years to plant a shrub/tree & now their back is spasming (no kidding)
Or they ate 100 chicken wings & beer at the 'wing nite' special & their dying from stomach cramps .... help health care save me !

Because health care is paid by our taxes, (aka the misnomer of free healthcare) some people feel that every time they feel a twinge, its off to the emergency room, which isn't why they are set up , & is exactly why there is a triage desk right at the front entrance , where they actually check you out before even getting your information/healthcard number !

If you are an idiot you get flagged as one & you'll wait, man oh man, will you ever wait ! Well I rolled my ankle a couple weeks back & something started burning in my ankle & now I can feel some movement when I push on the head of the screw under my skin ( I have always been able to feel the screw heads) there is so little meat covering the plate. Its very hot to the touch, & somewhat swollen & hurts/burns when I walk on it.

Oh well this is Canada, at least it won't cost anything outta pocket to get it repaired, still sucks to have to go in and get sliced open ...again

What I was eating, my on the road fast food diet, processed food lifestyle, was killing me, I was getting blood sugar readings of 17, or as low as 4.

It was no fad, 2 different nutritionists, one to teach how to get off the whole wheat/sugar roller coaster & one to teach how to reduce dramatically your salt intake. Both hospital workers with our Heart Clinic. Certainly don't teach 'fad diets'
They teach what has been know by all our great grandparents & in many cases our grandparents, which most adults & almost all children of them today don't even know.
Convenience aka fast food is garbage.

Heart healthy products labeled in stores are usually ....garbage
Low calorie, diet products ...are all of them ... Garbage
salt reduced 'fast food & processed food, almost always has less salt than their -regular- product , but even that's way too excessive in the reduced package & is unbelievable nasty in the regular product ...even if you are healthy ! .
That salt is often removed & bigger amounts of potassium are put in ...negating any value of the food as 'good'

I don't shop in the markets & supermarkets in the US so i don't know what prices are like there, for fresh food over 'fast convenience food.
I do go got my local farmers markets, veggie stands, farms etc.
I know for a fact that I can get 10 lbs of new potato's for $1.99 bag
can buy processed ready to heat & serve 1.5 pounds of fat filled, loaded with salt potato patties for $4.99 at the local supermarket ...3 bucks more expensive, absolutely horrible for you, & there's 8 & a half pounds less 'potato' in it ! ! !

Fresh , carrots, beans, peas, onions, peppers, apples , berries etc etc etc etc....all cheaper than the frozen /canned stuff.
My Wife & I can (bottle ) our own salsa, beets, pizza sauce, tomato puree, tomato sauce, pickles, relish made almost entirely out of veggies from our own garden.... we freeze our garden fresh veggies as well. no salt is used on anything ...except the pickles & we use a vastly reduced amount of salt, its more about the vinegar & pickling spice instead of 40%+ salt content !

But it is more work than walking into a grocery store & picking up a bottle of salted crap & pushing it to your car, opening the can & nuking it !.

No fad diet dude, just healthy eating & it is very much 'affordable' it just isn't "very convenient" I can't open a can of chilli. But we make a slow cooker 12 quart load of chilli in our slow cooker ( as 1 example ), then freeze individual portions in our freezer. When we have a chicken dinner, turkey etc, we boil the carcass, make broth ....no added salt. Some broth's in supermarkets are as high as 43% salt ! ! !...that should be illegal.

Hey Enrico, the cheapest way to eat, I have found ... is make it at home & bring it with you.
Fruit & yogurt ( not the sugar filled, crap with gelatine in it ....eeeeewwwwwwww) but greek yogurt , salt free nuts, gluten free bread for sandwiches. bring left overs etc.
I don't buy processed food, so I don't go to those places.
Simply by changing how I eat & what I eat has made massive strides in my health (diabetes is gone... no blood sugar problems at all anymore ...which blows my freakin' mind every time I sit & think about it )

Have lost over 70 pounds. simply because ... No processed food.
No fast food in over 2 years.
Lots of veggies, fruit, nuts, free range eggs ,Brown & wild rice & beans fresh as well as dried ...& I live on the East Coast of Canada, so lots of fresh sea food & free range meats, not the crap raised in factory farms ,on a diet of antibiotics & growth hormones. Cut all gluten & excessive salt from my diet.

Do yourselves a favour, boycott burger king, & every other Garbage food place out their. They are not feeding you , they are slowly poisoning you ..... IF you eat it.
