However, at this point, it's not looking good. Though if it does come back into fruition, I would want to work really hard on making it a reality just so it doesn't haunt me anymore.

As for other projects, I would have really liked to have participated with some highly renowned or up-and-coming animators with impressive resumes. That, and projects that have such rich characters, worlds to explore, etc.

2. Ideal voice acting job...............I suppose I kinda answered that a bit for question one......kinda.....yeah.

Response to: Retakes Posted 9 days ago in Voice Acting

There's always going to be a scenario where you are required to do some retakes in order to fit the ideal setting of what's being created. If one is expecting to have it down in just one or a few takes, they're often times sadly mistaken.

All you can done during these times is take the direction given to heart, make sure that you ask nicely about any suggestions or a better feel of what the director wants, and have a positive attitude about it. Often times, it may take SEVERAL retries in order to nail it down pat. Having little patience or getting fed up with the process will not win anyone over, especially the director.

Response to: Voice Acting Peeves! Posted 10 days ago in Voice Acting

I'm just going to go brief with this story, but it does go along with one of my voice acting peeves. That happens to be.....severe lack of communication.

Back when I was doing voice acting, I was commissioned to narrate some children's stories from a foreign writer through Odesk.com. Around this time, I was charging a slender amount of payment but I thought I was still an amateur when it came to overall production and skills.

The first couple of books went okay. No real complications; a few re-dos and it was okay. However, when I finished up a bunch of narrations for this author. I tried desperately to contact the author to let her know that I completed the work and required her overall opinion. Unfortunately, she never responded to a single e-mail. So, I went ahead and contacted Odesk concerning this matter. I told them about the scenario I was in, but they sadly could not make any action towards it because of one prime thing: .....................the contract we had for finishing the work was never verified nor started. Therefore, not only did I not get paid for the narration I did for those books, but I was naive and idiotic enough to never get the contract validated. The author was suspended by Odesk because of this incident, but all those hours wasted on mixing and recording could have been used more wisely.

So, to those whom are requiring talent for services, please make sure you get into regular contact with your talent or else they will probably be repercussions.

On another note, one more pet peeve of mine is when I record some lines, I originally think they work, but then I play them back and they sound HORRIBLE. Never liked my playback voice. -__-

Response to: What got you into voice acting? Posted 10 days ago in Voice Acting

I always had a fascination with cartoons and other iterations involving the art of voice acting and often would record myself acting with my voice. The admiration I had for the craft goes immensely deep, especially when it can convey such strong emotion when executed masterfully. So, when the time came when I could actually afford a decent microphone and audio set, I took advantage of it and tried my best to emulate my own take on the skill.

The only training I've ever had with acting was one high school play production, one commercial voice over course, and one voice acting online course with Lucas Schuneman. So, trying to find my niche proved to be very difficult.

Unfortunately, I never had much success.

Response to: Share your setup! Posted 2 weeks ago in Voice Acting

This pathetic example of a setup was the one I used to utilize for my recordings back when I wasn't on my voice acting hiatus more than a year ago. It's a Studio Projects C1 Condenser Microphone with a Blue Pop Filter and my own custom made porta booth. I also used an Alesis Multimix 8 USB FX Mixer and Mixcraft 6 for mixing.

Since I've gone on my hiatus almost a year ago, I have dismantled this setup and may plan on selling my microphone and mixer. Not my pop filter since it's been getting loose.

There really hasn't been a good feeling for me due to horrible performances from myself as well as a good amount of discouragement from my family and peers. Oh well.

In need of some new audio gear Posted February 13th, 2014 in Audio

Greetings,

Ever since I've gotten my tax money back, I've been looking to upgrade my audio recording gear in the hopes of perhaps improving my voice acting quality ever more slightly. I already obtained new headphones, but now I'm hoping to get a new microphone preamp to replace my Alesis Multimix 8 USB FX Mixer (since the noise interference has been a problem for quite some time despite my microphone both being in a custom portabooth and away from other noise), a new microphone stand (desktop or regular), and perhaps a shock mount.

So, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for these items? I'm hoping to look for something inexpensive, but still does a stellar job performance (especially with the microphone preamp).

If it helps, my current microphone is a Studio Projects C1 Condenser Microphone.

Much obliged to whomever aids me since my knowledge of finding the right gear (especially in terms of the microphone preamp) has been severely lackluster as of late. x_x

I think JaShinYa said the results would be in "no later than December 15." I guess that means that we could get the results sooner, but I figure we should expect them to take as long as possible (we wouldn't want them to rush it!).

Maybe Moonvamp or one of the VAC veterans can chime in with how this process usually works.

Well, last time I was in the contest, JaShinYa decided he wanted to do an animation for the winners at the last minute. A lot of things got in the way of that, and we ended up not knowing who won for a good couple of months.

However, since I do believe that he has planned ahead, it will probably be a quicker turnabout time.

Response to: Voice Actor Advertisement thread Posted November 21st, 2013 in Audio

All right, I have decided to offer voice commissions. Figured I would post this here just in case. Since I only work one part-time job (which I'm not sure if I'll even get the second part-time one), saving up money for new voice recording gear is getting quite futile. However, perhaps this will do the trick. So, here is what I had in mind for prices:

One off roles:

30 words: $20
70 words: $40
100 words: $60

Reoccurring roles:

30 words: $10
70 words: $20
100 words: $30

Anything less or more than what I listed is always negotiable. Same goes for if you want a phone message, narration, etc. However, I'm only doing this for original projects and not abridged ones.

All the money I get from these commissions would go towards getting new voice recording gear, like a new preamp, a microphone stand, a music sheet stand for my scripts, headphones, video editor (for showcasing works), some more foam, perhaps a new pop filter, foam cap, etc. I would also say my microphone, but really.....it cost me $250 and it's been holding up steady for quite a while.

If anyone has any suggestions for perhaps fixing the prices, feel free to let me know. Hell, if you have someone who is looking for a voice actor that can do villainy-type voices, deep mature, insane and cartoony, etc., feel free to spread the word. If you want some examples of my work, feel free to check out my demo reel here: MJ Voice Demo Reel 2012

Here are some other links you can click on such as my current voice acting entry for Newgrounds' 11th Voice Acting Contest (I'm personally not proud of this one, but you might like it) : Timmy's First Board Game of Delectable Delights as well as my own self-created project known as simply "Hermie and Poppenfresh": Candy Butts Galore Part 1

Feel free to contact me either here on Newgrounds through a private message or at my e-mail address: darkhole_dreams@hotmail.com .

.............I hope this works. I really want to get my gear better and to fully analyze and improve my surroundings. -_-

As I look back on my own entry, there's a part of me that wished I either re-recorded it or mixed it better.

Blasted reverb issues kinda plagues it a bit, and I admit that my vocal range isn't that diverse or strong now that I look back on it.

Oh well, best to carry any pride I have (wait, I have pride?), and just admit that I have no chance..................I guess. NO PITY PARTY!

Okay, so if anyone wants to give me honest feedback (no ass kissing, please) on my entry, I will gladly return the favor and review yours. Just be warned.......I'll most likely prefer yours over mine.

Animation will take a lot more work for the artist but if you provide a good script their might be an animator on newgrounds looking for a new thing who'd like to collaborate. Here's a good place to look for collaborators: link.

But if it's just still images you're looking for I'd be willing to team up :)

Thank you kindly for the link. I can't believe that I didn't notice that link before. I might have better luck on there.

As for what I'm looking for, it'll just be still images. If it was an animation, it'll be WAY too much work for the artist since it's basically more than forty minutes for the first episode. 0_0 I wouldn't want to overwork the artist.

Looking for an artist for my show Posted October 24th, 2013 in Art

Greetings and salutations,

I have been working on my own original audio show known as The Fucked Up Escapades of Hermie and Poppenfresh. I have finished episode one of the show, and episode two is currently a work in progress. However, I have been searching for an artist for the video versions of this audio broadcast on sites such as Youtube. That way, it can make the audio video seem that much more entertaining that just staring at white text on a black screen.

The kind of art style that I'm looking for is something in the same vein of a exaggerated yet sexy and expressive cartoon style such as Ren and Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, etc.

Before anyone says that they're interested, I highly recommend that you click the link here to listen to the first episode of Hermie and Poppenfresh: Hermie and Poppenfresh Episode 1: Candy Butts Galore Part 1

If you feel that your art style, with what I require, would be a great fit, feel free to content me either here on this forum, private message me, or even e-mail me at this address: darkhole_dreams@hotmail.com

When you leave a message, please show an example of your work (single or portfolio) and what you're charging in terms of commissions.

I look forward to hearing back from some potential artists.

Thank you kindly for your time.
