To those of you who say that our country was founded on Christain principles, and thus Fundementalist christainity should be part of our government and law, our nation was founded on the exact oppoite principles, in fact. In the 18th century during the enlightenment, an organizaion which had long-running druidic roots was formed, they were called the freemasons. They were gnostic and fiercely anti-clerical, they believed in the overthrow of organized religion, and for everybody to find salvation for themselves independently of corrupt priests. As luck would have it, most of our founding fathers, and every single president, up until JFK, was a freemason. So sure, we may say 'in god we trust' but in truth, the church stay out of our government and education, because thats what the founding fathers said.

It bans medicare from a) using its bargaining power (it is the largest single pharmesucidal purhaser in the united states) to negociate lower drug prices for its members -- it MUST take the prices offered by the pharmesudicals. b) It prevents Medicare from buying canadian drugs. Canadian drugs are completely safe, since Canada, which has one of the best socialized healthcare systems in the world, uses them. This plays right into the hands of the pharmesudical indstry by forcing medicare to buy overpriced american drugs. Bush's Medicare = bad

as much as i love and respect wikipedia, the first amendment clearly states that 'the congress shall make no law respecting the establsihment of religion, or prohibiting the free expression thereof.' Seperation of church and state is part of the constitution.

i wasn't sayin that all whites are racist, just that statistically, when an index of the 'whiteness' and 'blackness' of names has been compiled, the more 'black' a person's name is, the less likely they are to get an interview for a job. Anyone who plays the race card to validate their laziness is someone I wouldn't mind putting a bullet through. If the black community wants to be respected, they have to earn it, just like how gays, women, and other minorities had to go through. Any self-respecting black person would want to get rid of crap like affirmative action and 'black only scholorships', since the only message it gives is that black people need special treatment. The reality is, they don't. They have been many successful black people, just like they have been successful japanesse or successful hindus or successful latinos.

I think it is a widely known fact that to at least some extent there is bias in our socioeconomic system that deprives blacks of some of the oppurtunitites that whites take for granted. For example, an employer is far more likely to hire john smith than tyrone biggums -- just by virtue of one of them having a more steryotypically african american name. I agree that special treatment for black people is wrong, but not evening the playing field to give them equal rights and oppurtunities as whites. However, that all is beside the point. The point is that calling another forum member a lazy whining n***** is off fuckin' limits, and its because of bigots like you that we have crazy black dudes screaming 'KILL THE WHITE PEOPLES!'

To those quoting the gospel of peter and the book of romans: those books were written after Christ's death, as the religious movement of Christainity was gaining speed. The early christains such as Peter wanted to build a religion that had subservient followers who would listen to authority. In a way, Christainity was a direct response to the highly militant turn Judaesim had taken around the time of Christ's death (culminating in an anti-roman rebellion and the sack of Jerusalem). And in addition to the messages of subservience origionally written in the bible, the new testament that you read today isn't the testament that the origional apostles wrote. It was amended many times by many church councils during roman times and the dark ages. Hmmm, what did rich powerful churches with lots of land holdings and serfs want? I know! I know! A populus that knew its place and would work for the good of its masters! The historical jesus would set a modern bible on fire if he saw it. In America at least, free speach is an inalienable right that everybody has -- it was one of the founding principles of our country. Although in some nightmare scenerios, yes, free speech ought to be curtailed, it is not a simple privlage to be casually tossed away. And anyway, somebody telling terrorists information about the government is treason, and they would be hanged if guilty -- there would be no reason to impede free speach, just hang the fucker.

A partial birth abortion is a method of last resort, when ultrasound scans show that a fetus is so badly deformed that giving birth to it would put the mother's health at risk. Is the short and painful life of a deformed baby more important t you than that of its mother?
