In other news, Pico Day is April 27th and has been updated with some cash prizes. Wish I could do more but we're also putting up $2k for the Newgrounds Annual Tournament of Animation and thousands of dollars for new tank trophies for the Annual Awards!

So do the 2011 Awards just get skipped or is this like the catch-up year?

Everyone thank Mike for what I can only call PURE GENIUS and a REFUSAL TO GIVE UP IN THE FACE OF INSANE OBSTACLES over the past two years.

Swivel allows you to convert just about any SWF file into an amazing 1080p video file, with no drop in frames. It gives you control to skip over preloaders and replay screens, as well as a manual mode if you have to click anything during your movie or need to work around other quirks. It also has a beautiful front-end by Stamper.

This is the only program I've ever used that has zero loss in quality when converting to 1080p. Mike is the fucking man.

Ours probably won't be up until after 7 since I have to go to work and still need to make some adjustments/add sound fx. Hopefully that doesn't disqualify us.

It's supposed to say Team MOC, but I can't get it to change.

Would we all be taking a page from the same comic/issue? It would be cool if enough entires were submitted to completely adapt the whole issue. Like a giant collab contributing to one story.

I don't know why, but for some reason all my apostrophes turned into a bunch of random letters. Here are the lines...corrected:

AUDITOR

Line 1:

You have played this game for too
long. And you're going to bring him
right to our doorstep.
And when that happens, the game
changes. We've donated enough
bodies to this cause.

Line 2:
Do you hear that? That is the sound of your arrogance...plaguing this building like a cancer.

TRICKY
Late20's/early 30's. Insane, but smart. If you can make him sound anything like Ledger's "Joker", go for it. If not, try it however you like. I'm open to ideas on this one.

Line 1:

You see? Right now, I am entirely
unsatisfied. I get no pleasure out
of killing a weak man. I'll make an
exception for you.

Line 2:

Look...at...you.
You must be soooo....bored. I know I am. But now you're here. And you are quite the prize.
You know we went through quite a
few tests before getting you as a
result. Typically with failed
endeavors like this one, you scrap
the raw materials, but I thought
I'd be a good citizen and

"Madland" Voice Casting Posted July 24th, 2012 in Collaboration

Hey folks,

It's been a while since I've hit up the forums. But let's get right down to business...

I am officially holding an open voice-casting call for my new movie "Madland". It's a cinematic take on the Madness universe. Currently, I am only looking for two main roles; Tricky and The Auditor. The Auditor is most likely going to be taken by RicePirate, but I still want to hold auditions in case anything falls through.

So, here are the sample lines. Sorry for the strange formatting. Copying lines from my original PDF made the it all messed up.

Auditor
Late 30's/early 40's. Slightly raspy. Delivery should evoke a "wise but unstable" tone.

The MP4 upload feature is invite-only at the moment to avoid an all-out video dumpfest. So is the video feature just for animations that are turned to video because of file issues? I'd love to put my short film up, but I assume you guys are trying to avoid the Youtube effect and keep it strictly for animation purposes.

It's true that NG is trying to do a lot of things at once, maybe too many things, but I think we have built a lot of strength by doing so. Being amazing at one thing will only get you so far as the world keeps moving forward; you're gonna need to know people who's talents compliment your own. That's the sort of thing we have going on here, amazing people in every category, coming together to create something bigger than any one part. It's true that a lot of the web has been consolidated between Facebook and YouTube, but we all know where the real heart and soul of the Internet is. It has all been happening here from the beginning and it's going to keep happening here for as long as people are passionate about creating and passionate about what we have going on here.

You put that perfectly. Like many others, I wouldn't be nearly as motivated to work as hard as I do on my projects if it weren't for the payoff of putting it on NG. What's great about this site (contrary to facebook or youtube) is it is a site solely dedicated to artists, so the people giving feedback (for the most part) can give you pointers from an artistic standpoint. Yes, there are some trolls, but overall, this is still the best networking site for artists...by a landslide. Keep doing what you do Tom, and we'll all keep doing what we do. Newgrounds shall never die.

Response to: Pico Day and Monthly Voting Posted March 1st, 2012 in NG News

This year we were thinking it would be fun to open the invite to include tributes and spoofs of ALL characters that have appeared on NG over the years. Just remember we have Madness Day in September so you should save your epic Madness stuff for that. What does everyone think of that idea? If you want to run with it, it would be best to get the blessing of the author you wish to pay homage to, especially if it's not a straight-up parody work. Let me know your thoughts.

I definitely support that idea, which inevitably would make Pico Day just become Newgrounds Day, but I'm fine with that! It also makes the tank awards more of a big event.

Response to: Voting, Surprise, Comic Jam Winners Posted February 23rd, 2012 in NG News

BAD NEWS:

Remember how I said we have a surprise coming on Friday? It's being postponed for a short bit, we'll just surprise you when it happens. There is still a game coming out Friday that will be a big hit so show up for that!

Oh Tom, you and your anticipation antics.

I should really be reminding people that we ARE doing Pico Day this year on April 28th. I need to sort out what the prizes will be, they might be kinda low-key this year.

When will you guys announce the Tank Award Nominees?
