From looking at your drawing it seems you need more contrast, especially in your shadows. Have like one color that's for light shadows and another for dark shadows.

Most of your stuff looks like plastic and overly shiny.

As for the OP's shading, I can't tell which direction the lighting's coming from. I like how it looks, the style looks neat. but the shading direction is fucking weird. The ear makes i look like it's coming from above, the head looks like it's coming from the right, and on the torso, it looks like it's coming from straight in front.

No, your grammar's fine, better than a lot of people around here.

I think he's just referring to your art skills

which is still the dumbest thing to say, age doesn't matter

Nonetheless, I like the coloring jobs, but the drawings themselves are lacking. Practice more on form, first, especially on the faces, they look weird, to me.

I'm just hoping mine isn't too generic =\

Looking back on it, it's not as interesting compared to a lot of the entries, heh. Thought it looked good, at the very least at the time, though...

ah well, practice.

the .FLA IS 2880 x 2134,
but when i export it says 2885 on wide.

what do i do?

..srry spanish..

The way I did it was to make a box the size of the desired result.
For instance, draw a box and stretch it out to be 3225 x 2400 px.

As for that spanish box, if you can find the one that says "Minimum image area" in spanish, then it'll include EVERYTHING you drew, so it can be bigger than 2880 px if the actual image is bigger than that. I think you've got the option already set.

it's spelled "covenant"

I have this feeling the alien is inspired by Halo.
Even if it is, it's waaaaay too similar to the ELITES.

not covenant

Change his torso up. It's shaped too similarly to the elite with its tiny midsections.
Make him more beefed up, and change his armor, as well. Especially his entire arm armoring. That alone makes me think he's a copy of Halo aliens.

Basically change everything up in his middle. The colors, too. Keep his head, though. The shape of it makes him look combat-ready.

If you could just clean lines a bit and make them neater + some colors and that would be perfect :]

Why does everyone seem to think good drawings need to be clean and colored?

If the artist wanted to, I'm pretty sure he'd be more than capable of doing such things, so he probably intended for it to be messy like that, anyways.

Stop making excuses, and if it only took 10 minutes, work harder on it instead of asking for criticism when you're not even going to try.

At 8/29/08 11:05 AM, flashman16 wrote:
At 8/29/08 09:21 AM, RandomRandy wrote: well if you work at it and practice im sure you can draw good. here's some things that are wrong with your drawing.

1.the face is too oval like and long
nothings perfect

Well, it's still too oval and long.

3.her boobs are out of position and sloppily drawn
it is a roughish drawing, but the breasts look ok to me, i didn't want to draw them huge, thats not what anime is about

Size isn't even what he's talking about, they're plain out of place. Also, animes have a lot of girls with huge breasts, even when they're supposedly teenagers.

4.the wrist with the exposed had is indented
my mouse sometimes makes the pointer go wonky when i try to draw a straight line (odd considering it's an optical mouse)

Then go back and do it again until you get it right.

6.one of her arms has a straight part like you just used the line tool
thats the only time i could get a straight line when using the brush tool, when i never wanted a straight line to be there
7. all the outlines have different thickness
dont blame me, blame flash for not adjusting brush size in accordance to zoom level

Then redraw in it until you get your consistent flash outline. Otherwise just use the line tool.

8.her neck is long and skinny
it's not supposed to be like that?

No.

11.the hole thing, for the most part, was sloppy
it's spelled "whole", it may be sloppy, but i think it's pretty damn good for a first try

It's okay as a first try, but why does everyone attempt anime? Why not attempt a simpler style form and experiment with your own first? To be honest, the way it's said, "anime" is apparently the cool thing to be drawing because so many new people like to draw them. Try real figures first.

At 8/29/08 05:37 PM, flashman16 wrote: well, this is my second attempt, i think i'm getting better? but i'm no artist so i dont know, this was done out of sheer boredom

is it better than my first?

No, this is worse. Her arms are wobbily, her tits remind me of a loaf of bread, and it looks like you used the pencil tool. Learn to use the line tool next time if you want something smooth with that kind of lining.

If by "phsycho" you mean crazy person.
It's just too distracting for me to say the picture's good.

word is "psycho"

I'm a nitpicker for details, and that really bothers me way too much that I can't help but look at that unnecessary h, ugh. But when I do look at the actual picture, I am instead greeted jumbled lines, and I think it may be smiling at me.

Your other drawings are in a way, extremely cute, but in an annoying way =\
Most of it looks too jagged and simplified. The only thing that looks appealing is that red ball on tails doll's head. It's like the shiny cherry I never had.
