My friend Saeid and I shot and edited this film within a week from start to finish for a competition run by Jessops.

We're most likely not going to win because there were some really good entries submitted in the last 24 hours, but hopefully it gets a lot of views on Youtube nonetheless.

^^^^ It's my latest vlog post, basically me and my mate had been working for 40 hours so instead of goin to sleep our crazy minds made us play the same song over 20 times to different girls, and then I edited it all together to make this music video =D

I do have flash though btw, I made some flash animations a couple years ago - I enjoyed it but its so time consuming that I have no time to make them anymore which is annoying :( but making these youtube videos only take a few hours, which is great =]

well actually on my first video - the first edit of it had nearly no cuts, but that meant it was like a minute and a half longer, and it seemed really boring as well - i showed it to my friend and he got bored after a minute and didnt want to watch the rest, he gave me the idea to cut it - but it wasnt until i started cutting when I realized the reason people do that - isn't just for style, but it's actually to keep peoples attention!!

So yea, that is why I decided to jump on the cutting bandwagon.

What would you suggest to keep people's attention?

forgot to add a vital part of my message:

without the prizes, and front paging and top 100 etc etc
there is no sense of praise or determination to make art FOR newgrounds & for the public of newgrounds - which is what makes the audio and flash portal so great.

without all that we are literally posting it up - getting maybe 1 review and like 10 views for some of the good work that deserves a LOT more attention making those artists feel very very unsatisfied and pointless.

try updating this new part of the portal with all the forms of prizes - featured front page work - and a top 100 list for each genre - as soon as possible!!

okay, i posted a topic here before on my first track i made to ask for help on frequency and equalizing

i got some advice which was great! now heres my second track, i think it IS better then my first, but i obviously still need more advice!

so please, check it out and review it here or on the song page, tell me what i should change or improve on it, and could possibly tell me how to go about the improvements as well? i'm still fairly new to fruity loops and music engineering lol, so far i only know how to use equalizers and a few fx to go on channels

I submitted an audio track to NG, it's my first audio track so it has to be.. moderated or something first

Yeah that's easy said =\ but it's HOW to emulate it and HOW to get a good mix which i'm concerned with

Oh wow, i just read that whole guide, it was good, specially to know all the cons to avoid but at the same time, it pretty much says that all those cons is what stops a track from sounding mastered and good..

so while i'm slightly unfulfilled hoping that someone was gonna tell me what I can do just to notch my songs up to make it sound great - I also know that it is only what I should not do in order for that to actually happen

I'll definately double read it next time I make a track and I'll definately take on board the whole "finding a unique sound" part

I tend to open up FL and then just give up after making a tune but listening back to it and it not sounding great, I spend about 10minutes experimenting on it and then just give up not even changing the notes... however when I write a piece that seems pretty good I would sit for ages picking out something that sounds good and when I chose a sytrus I always sit for a while changing every single knob and slide on it to get a good sound despite not having a clue what they all do - I end up getting something that sounds great and then i play the whole song back and it sounds horrible because the style doesn't go with everything else!!

i know its only to do with EQ but that was nice and useful to read for some mastering tips! any other tips on other aspects of the mastering process would be highly useful

when you do get to hear the track - i must say i think the synth might be too loud?? or I should change the frequency or something.. i'm not sure - just saying that for when you get to hear the track

So i'm a noob when it comes to music engineering and all that.

I'm using Fruity Loops 5 and I made my first proper song on it last night because of my new taste in Dance music

Well.. I just really want to learn to master things, how to set the right db's and frequency levels - i hardly know anything about this so a few tips and descriptions of everything i need to look out for would be great!

I read on a site, to keep the bass drums at around 1100 - 1300hz and i read on the site "make sure you keep the individual instruments in there own frequency" I don't know much about frequency but does this mean the individual parts lets say: the drums the bass the synth and the lead should have different levels of Hz so that you can hear them all clearly?

anyway, thanks for any tips and advice on mastering, maybe a list of the different stages people go through when mastering would be useful

and for now, I just want to focus on how to master Trance/Dance/Techno tracks and perhaps some tips on how I should make a good dance track, what to use etc etc
