HELP ME WITH MY GRAPHICS! Posted August 19th, 2003 in General

Hey! I made a picture in FireWorks, and I need the final JPEG to be 15 KB or less. It was 16.5! Anyone know how to lower the file size by about this much, without making the canvas smaller?

Thanks!

Response to: Repeat animation Posted August 19th, 2003 in Game Development

Yeah, just paste the sprite, and make it a movie clip. Then double click it. Make it flash for one frame, and then the next frame blinking, and go back to yer scene. When the movie plays, the sprite will blink, forever...

Variable-URL HELP!!! Posted August 19th, 2003 in Game Development

Hi, I need help with input text, urls, and variables. It's a little confusing, so let me explain.

Okay, say I make an input text box named "variable" (no quotes) and put it in the middle of my drawing field. Now, I give this frame the actionscript "name = variable" no quotes

Name is a dynamic text box. So that when sum1 types in the input text box, it appears in the dynamic text box. With me so far?

Okay, now I add a geturl script. Say the url I am trying to get changes, depending on what the person is trying to do, much like outwar, which everyone hates, or some kind of voting type of thing.

What I want to do is make it so that whatever someone types in the variable text box appears in the url.

say the url was :
http://www.changingurl.com/before/VARIABLE TEXT HERE/after/

Song to Mp3 Posted July 7th, 2003 in General

Do u guys kno of any programs that can turn a song I have on a CD into an MP3 file on my computer? Is this possible?

Response to: kazaa being sued?!? Posted July 3rd, 2003 in General

I used to have KaZaA, and I likedit when I did. Now, however I got rid of it. Mainly, I did it for 2 reasons. 1. I had heard that this filesharing lawsuit shit, was much harsher than it really is. And 2. I've found many other more productive ways to buy music. My favorite is just buying the damn CDs. They're not that expensive. Just yesterday, I bought the Resident Evil soundtrack or $18 and got songs from cool bands like SlipKnot, Marilyn Manson, Static-X, Fear Factory, Ill Nino, and Saliva! Some of those songs were never on KaZaA.

Another cool method is legal filesharing. I believe I came across only 1, lol. It's called E-Music. You pay a low monthly fee, $12.00, and download all u want. But, the artists get paid, so u technically aren't breaking the lwa. I think. Just go to www.mp3.com and look for the link. II believe u'r safe with that, but NOT 100% SURE. Lol.

Anyway, that's how I get my music. KaZaA will probably become illegal and all that, but people will still mod the software to make it different and start the chain all over again. I personally don't give a shit. Filesharing will never be stopped anyway, give it up RIAA! Shit, people are filesharing on AIM, Christ!

Wabu? Posted June 29th, 2003 in General

Does anyone else have this on their computer, cuz I do, and I cant find any trace of it's roots to delete it from my computer.

It's called Wabu. It's this huge banner that pops up on my browser when I open Internet Explorer. It's called Wabu. It keeps changing the homepage I have set, and it doesn't go away until I command it to.

It's nothing major. It's just becoming a nusience. Anyone know how to delete it, MY Computer doesn't work, and it's not in the Add or Remove Programs section.

I've heard of this series but never really watched it. I'm gonna go watch it now ... 1 sec.

Response to: Mexicans Posted June 29th, 2003 in General

Well, to be honest I have mixed opinion on this Mexican racism issue. I hate racism to begin with, so for me it's hard to say that.

I'll start with the positives. Mexicans are really hard working people. ADMIT IT! They mow our lawn, get paid a pittence, live in houses of fifty members and have to carpool everyday. I rarely see anyone mowing their own fucking lawns anymore, instead I see Perfect Lawn Care and their truck full of Mexicans drive by and fix up landscaping and all that.

But, of course, the news can't be all good! About two years ago, where I live in New York, a group of illegal immigrants, who just happened to be Mexicans, came to a young woman's house and stabbed her to death. Her father had these people cut their lawn, so it was completely unexpected. This I see as a negative side of a mixed topic.

What I mean by that is, that no matter how good something may be, or how fair something may be, there will almost always be a downside. Look at Osama. After 9/11 people were killing Arabs left and right. They were stabbing then, shooting them, and even running them over. Osama didn't represent the Arab population with his vil acts of terrorism. His beliefs juat happened to be hateful, and since most Americans are niave and stupid, and will believe anything they are told, people automatically assumed that all Arabs, or Muslims, or whatever were standing by Osama, even though most of the Arabs weren't.

There are always going to be conflicting opinions on this topic, and soon it will become a major political issue, I'm almost certain. Unfortunately, most of these opinions will have racism and diversity thrown into them. Tsk, tsk...

Response to: What xbox game should i buy? Posted June 22nd, 2003 in General

Get Halo and do this!!!

THIS IS A LITTLE TRICK I DISCOVERED IN AHLO WHEN I WAS PLAYING IT WITH MY FRIENDS!

Open up multiplayer and select any amount of players. Okay, during the game, look straight down at the floor. Now, throw 2 plasma grenades at the floor directly below you. As the second one hits the ground IMMEDIATELY fire a rocket launcher bullet starigh into the ground.

If you did it right, your flailing corpse will be sent so high into the sky that you will be only a mere dot in the sight of other players! The bullet will blast u into the sky, and the grenades will explode while you are in midair, forcing you to go higher! Try and see if yoyur friends can blow up your corpse on it's way down!

Response to: whistle level Posted June 21st, 2003 in General

Haven't yoou heard. It's a new feature by NewGrounds in which we're rated by how many whistles we blow on under judgement movies and reviews we vote abusive. I think it's retarded. Now people will blow the whistle just to get points.

Response to: Scream Posted June 21st, 2003 in General

The Scream series weren't very scary. Well, that's what I think now ... I was young then, and I was scared shitless. Now, I lauhg at the very storyline of the film.

I did, however, enjoy the Scary Movie parody of Scream!

Response to: Kill........me Posted June 21st, 2003 in General

Anyone who waits outside for hours to get a book is a total dipshit and should be dragged out into the road and shot several times by passerbys in their cars. Rent a DVD and get a grip on reality. The books aren't bad though, they're actually very entertaining, I had to read them for school, and I liked them. But not that desperately, for Christ's sake!

Response to: Resident Evil ONline Posted June 21st, 2003 in General

I can't wait for this to come out! I'm so gripped in the tension that I've carved the words Resident Evil into my wrist with a large kitchen blade.

Seriously though ... it looks awesome.

Response to: New way to look @ flashmovies/games Posted June 21st, 2003 in General

I try my hardest to take into consideration how hard animators worked. I tried animating, turns out I suck, I'm only good with ActionScript and cool graphic things. So I kind of see where you're coming from. This doesnt mean that the movie can be bad though. What if the animator worked really hard, but it sucked. It's kind of an unbalanced scale, I know, but sometimes shit like this happens.

Response to: I want all the rumors to end now Posted June 21st, 2003 in General

By Racist Flash, you mean that Holocaust thing right?

I never thought you made that Flash racist, I read the description and saw how you didnt really play a major role in it. Although, because of the content in that film, you can see where the mis understanding came into place.

Response to: Movie Review: The Hulk Posted June 21st, 2003 in General

I dont really think The Hulk in general is atupid. The concept of growing huge muscles and destroying anything and everything that stands in your way is pretty cool. It's the concept of the film I find retarded.

The Hulk is killing police in this movie! That can only mean bad things in the society we live in today where kids do whatever they are told by whoever.

Response to: does HTML count as programming? Posted June 15th, 2003 in Programming

I think HTML counts as programming. It sort of a blah type of programming, but it's programming none the less. It's HTML's script tags which inspired many other types of programming. Like Javascript.

<script>SCRIPT GOES HERE</script>

That <> tag bracket system all originated for HTML!

Whatever, it's kind of programming, but lets face it : all new programmers start with HTML, well, all the smart ones anyway.

Response to: Outwar links in flash movies Posted June 1st, 2003 in General

There's nothing actually wrong with OutWar. It's when people break the rules and spam their links that it becomes "wrong". Fist of all OutWar doesn't award spammers, they have an anti-spam policy. Second, I do agree that spamming is idiocy and should be taken off.
