O-kay P-Chan, Since this can go on forever, I will make a few statement then I'm Off...
first Of All I really don't have time to bring You "Proof" about my statements.. If you feel I'm wrong, then you prove me wrong...But What I can Tell you is that I worked with some incredible animation Teachers in my 4 years at SVA, who know the business better than both of US,as well as having taken international animation History for two years.....So I'm not talking out of my ass...
It is Known fact that American made animation is more expensive that Japan animation....Most animation Studios' hire layout artist and character designers, but send the inbetweening(the hard part) overseas because it is much cheaper...The Japanese do it for cheap, period....( I worked at MtV animations and that’s how they did "Daria" Okay there's my proof)
Now, then it comes to Story and Plots in anime, they can get intense, and twisted, but that is because it is geared towards adult audiences, more chances are taken, unlike the U.S....But just like the Plots here in the U.S. Anime Storyline can get just as formulaic, and mundane as the rest of them.....
Animes are either Stories about fighting, Giant Robots, or School kids trying to get laid.....
The truth is I really wasn't complaining about Plots, and Story as Much as the 'Process' of Anime'...maybe that's why you found my statements on the matter So "Weak"...
So lets get this out of the Way.." I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH ANIME STORYLINES"..
now you say the Long drawn out still scenes are tender moments for you?...That's fine...If it works for you then great. We'll just leave at that, since what you say they are trying to convey, is simple speculation on your part, so no proof is required...Same here If I have a theory why something as what something is..It means I have no proof, so don't demand any....
Hell.. I feel the long drawn out Still scenes are nothing more than Anime's way to compensate for their inability to express true emotions..But like I said, i don't have proof, So don't demand any:)
Now lets get down to business, the visual Style and execution of animation..
You keep telling me to bring out the Best animation of the US...But You say Disney Doesn't count....Well That's ridiculous,...You Bring up Princess Monkoe, and what am I supposed to bring up?.. The Flintstones???....
Besides it was the Japanese that copied from the Americans in the first place, So why deny the source..
Here are my List of incredible American animation:
"heavy Metal"
"Tarzan"
"Iron Giant"
"Secret of Nymth"
"Batman Series"
"Titan AE" (Story was bad, But we're talking about animation here:)
"Atlantis" upcoming
And these are just a few..
BTW Little Mermaid is NOT anime....
It all come downs to what we like,I prefer traditional American animation, and you prefer Anime'
You hate Disney because the Story line is formula, and the cartoons are geared toward kids.
I hate anime because of the Bad mouth syncing, unrealistic expressions, and the Formula character design....
While money is a big factor why Disney make the cartoons the why they do....
Anime really doesn't have a reason for it's horrible mouth movements...
BTW did you See "Tarzan"?
I can say that I have seen at least one episode of every cartoon you mentioned...
And no matter how much detail, or realistic (minus the faces), an anime can be...they can never cover the scope of expressions , emotions, and awe conveyed in an animation like Tarzan,never...
Anime can tell a good Story, But True animation can Tell a Story without a single Word
P.S. Claiming to be a whole medium is too prentious for even Disney to make, so get off it Anime is a genre:)
