You wont win if you don't compete, so it does't matter if it is impossible to beat someone.

It is weird how many people say they want to compete but haven't composed their song after about two weeks. maybe they just forgot about the contest, or they are procrastinators. I hope for the first because I would rather not win a competition because my song sucks as opposed to not winning because there was no contest, so I will say this again.......

BUMP?

why waste your money on t.v. shows if you don't want them? Anyways, we don't know what type of music you like, even with that list, as there are many types of them. But I guess that someone could use the band you listed and the song you listed, but that's not very detailed.

c. the user has chosen to have their music uploaded to newgrounds. this is probably the most important part. Even if it's then released under a CC license, the mere fact that the user opted to host it on NG's servers means they've kind of implicitly accepted whatever use newgrounds makes of the music.

there was no such understood agreement with IGN.

that is essetially part b, just with adding that IGN hasn't made that agreement, which I guess adds 1% more accuracy, but they are the same thing.

The website does not directly make money off the songs, at no point does it charge the user. When you have your own site, blog or whatever, does having a song with CC license automatically mean you are breaking the law against yourself because you are making money, no matter how tiny against yourself?

No.

If the song WAS TAKEN from Newgrounds, and put into a product, game, even paid webcast what have you, then it is breaking the law.

Just because IGN paid some guy to put together a video, which makes the video a commission, does not automagically make it a commercial product. There are loads of people who are paid to create open source material.

If NG removed it's rev share program today, just like how it was before the rev share, it would not be breaking the law.

This looks like an example of a person not thinking correctly, because it should be obvious that
a. they didn't give credit, and
b.Newgrounds doesn't need to give a share of the ad revenue because they are giving specific permission to Newgrounds to make money off of the ads on the songs main page by uploading it, as it is a known fact , at least for those who have posted music alot, that ads are used on it that are not giving the composer money, and as such it is licensed by context.

I know of an awesome way to do it. download the free verion of fl, open your midi in fl, and right click on every channel, and choose "sytrus' then find presets that make it sound awesome, and click on file -> export -> mp3, and you have made mp3 from midi

These threads always end up being that way..

I wouldn't go as far as betting money on it, but yeah generally these threads end up this way, because:
A.people who don't read the rules also dont read what it says when they submit it, and
B.people who steal have better sounding songs, and thus better sounding songs take longer, causing better sounding songs to take for ever to submit, causing longer wait periods. I know that I was approved very quickly, probably beacause the song sounds like shit.

I don't think he meant we can put samples in our windows media folder and call those "windows sounds".
