how to make blurred images. Posted February 8th, 2006 in Game Development

how can i get blurred images in flash? i've been trying with photoshop to make some blurred images (out of focus foreground crap) and when i want to import to flash it goes wrong.
do i use gif or something because then i loose the nice blur effect and the quality of the colors.
and using something like eps or other formats give me a strange popup menu i don't understand. and always end up with pictures having a white background i don't want.

some help please.

I don't know if anyone has had this problem with flash before but i'm stuck.
I can change the alpha settings to any graphic (symbol) i like but when i type some text and then make a symbol from it i can't.
it shows up nicely in the work area but when i test the damn thing it just shows up as full colored text.. (i want to make the text disapear, you know alpha tweening).
all the other stuff works perfectly but the text stays put.. can anyone help me with this cause this sucks bigtime.

this doesn't seem to work either..
recap,
i've got a photoshopped target,
made a movie clip,
inside movie clip made three invisible buttons (hit areas) giving 10,5,1 point(s)
the score thingy works:

on (press) {
_root.score = _root.score + 10;
}

but the tricky thing is how to make this skip the main screen to the next scene.
i have tried the codes above, which did nothing, or in some cases just started the same scene. and i used

on (release) {
if (_root.score==100) {
tellTarget ("_parent.") {gotoAndplay("scene 2", 1);}
}
}

and still nothing, now am i just stupid or does being inside a movieclip play havock with buttons and actionscript?

i have tried a different amount of stuff so far but nothing seems to happen.
i've got a movie clip, and a nice button placed within, and at the score of 600 i want the sucker to move to the second scene.
but every time i try something it just keeps adding up my score and i don't move on to the next scene.
what am i doing wrong and what do i need to put in to make it right? (same goes for the timer but i fixed that sort of by first going to the main timeline and then to the next scene.)
it would be great if someone out there could help me. cause i am at that precarious point where i am about to toss my cpu out of the window.

i used to be good at drawing with a mouse but now i got this newfangled optical wireless thing that decides were the cursor should go all by it's lonesome so i end up with a lot of squiggly lines that don't look like the drawing i intended.. HELL YEAH im gonna get me a tablet.

what's up with those shitty movies that go like "i drew a stick banana and made it jerk off" that get scores 3 or over, while the guys (and galls) that try to make quality end up with 2 maybe 2.5 scores..
