Response to: RSI and it's effect on gaming Posted May 3rd, 2012 in Video Games

Once discomfort kicks in:
* Do exercises indirectly affecting the pained muscles. Dancing, walking and most cardio exercizes evelate strain in back and neck muscles. Avoid exercises doing actual movement with the muscles and try not to massage or stretch the pain the away. Because the pain is a signal of the problem but fighting the pain not alway removes the problem and good indication of how the problem is progressing.
* Switch hands, its hard to become double dexterous pc user but it costed me just 2 days. So I wouldn't call it a big challenge either. Surely there is function loss using the less experienced hand but switching it off removes the strain time.
* Stress, 15 minutes of stress working in ms word puts more strain on your muscles than enjoying a casual game all day. Even if the gamer guy was slouching up straight the test person using ms word always showed more strained muscles and discomfort after those 15 minutes. One could think that if you were playing a game that added similar stress an hour could still cause rsi.

Once it's gone:
powertraining or swimming, basicly shit to increase general muscle strength and adjusts posture. Discomfort? Switch back to cardio. ( swimming is cardio but lot of repetetive wrist action, i wouldnt recommend it )

Once rsi or persistent discomfort:
stop, try to bypass a regular doctor and go straight to a specialist. I have been tagged 2 times with rsi. One time it was displaced muscle in my hand because of boxing impact ( but it's something you could get holding a bike pedal driving over a rock ) and second time was a knot stuck in my neck. Simply ignoring the doctor advice and going straight to a specialist such as a expert fysio therapist is a good idea. Because RSI itself means your pretty much fucked, surgery is generally not good idea since there is no garantee that the pain caused comes from the place it hurts. And the damage done and strenght loss will only add to a worse form of rsi.

Bluntly put, if the boss likes to play golf competitively with other people from other offices and your looking to better your position with the boss, it's not a bad idea to pay for some golf lessons yourself.

Should the office do good and a position opens up the boss may throw you some softballs and in case the company is looking for cuts the boss and his friends might end up saving your ass.

An army these days are just a vital part to be an able participant in the grand chess game. As alliances might improve politics and trading, it can also be an ass safer in dire times.

I had small quick question, is the site still in redesign fase? Had some problems yesterday on site in which a message went up saying that the admins would be informed of the error. After that the homepage turned back to the redesign state from couple weeks ago.
Yet everything apart from the homepage is still working normally, is the problem on my end?

Response to: How often do you buy games? Posted March 4th, 2012 in Video Games

I ussualy pirate first as a demo and then buy it. Quite frankly most games are getting boring to me 2 fast and the pricing seems off the charts. Also it's really hard to find gems these days between all the main stream games.

Not that I find most main stream games bad, but once a game enters the just being a game on the background and starts to become really profitable, it seems to corrupt and blend into the main stream values and at that stage ussually the aspects I like of the game are trimmed down, challenging aspects become easier and I am eventually left with a somewhat shell of a game and huge ammount of cash lighter.

And don't get me started on how DLC is turning from prolonging the game experience into cutting from the game experience. Ussually I pay for 1 game each 2 months. And buy some cheap golden oldies in between that I missed out on but are now 10 euro and once a game is prone to have a large ammount of DLC I don't actually buy the game untill some pack comes out for 10% the price ( in which they still make profit )

And they have the most sensitive parts ever. That's enough to convince me that women can withstand pain better, especially if you think about how much our vaginas, throats, and asses take from you guys. Throw in child birth and it's not contest. Women deal with more pain and don't whine as much.

Yeh I shouldn't have brought that up, the actual test had to do with a pain deliverer ( current on pain receiver ), with subjects familiarized with the pain. But it's really hard to test that because women have a stronger sense of commitment ;) or can divert a lot of concentration from the pain to the emotional aspect of the situation. Once you start tweaking the test by adding for example 3 pain delivers at same time or by adding a longer duration women start to win. Even giving chocolate to the women or a speech on why they should win beforehand changed the outcome.
You could say that the way we tested was kind of to protect our own manliness ;)

Response to: Men > Women Posted March 2nd, 2012 in General

The difference between a man and a woman to my knowledge:

Man's brain works like a flowchart, step by step thinking, 1 sometimes 2 currents. Uses one half of the brain, often disregards his emotion when thinking and spends 1 second of each 7 seconds ? thinking of sex. Woman's brain works like a brainstorm, multiple steps thinking, 2-4 currents, uses both sides of the brain often takes emotion into the thought proces.

Now a females brain is in theory is in some situations superior to that off a male. In countries where is there is no role indoctrinated on the women they even seem to be better in technology classes as they make better use of combining multiple aspects within engineering together. But as states by the op the real discoveries were done by males, this is because of their flowchart like brain they like to jump into the deep and build and build upon their discoveries. Of course in a lot of cases this resorts into tunnel-vision and often into a product that helps nobody but sometimes this leads to great discoveries that humanity strive on. The male mind is also capable of destroying humanity with an invention for same reasons.

Socially the woman outgrows the male counterpart rather quickly as the male spends half his time doing 1 thing while the female can multitask. Therefor women often like a somewhat older guy and guys like a somewhat dumber girlfriend.

Politically or discusion wise the woman is simply outdone by the male brain. Most test proof that a male is about 80% right in defending a subject matter. The woman will bring up emotional values to the conversation or come with illogical conclusions because her brains focuses on the topics that hold most emotional value to her. Often she direct the argument into directions that dont mean much to the topic. On the other hand when a women is "cold" or a "tough bitch" she is often must more capable to bring her point forward and is great as external party creating flow in the conversation as a guy can get stuck in a false loop duo his flowchart thinking.

Teamworking works better with a male team because of their hunter past can work really well together whereas women often start a social battle for power.
If you would a couple of guys on a island they would build things to survive and make plans for future and when there is time play around, when you put girls on a island they build bare minimum to survive for that moment and then fight over it.
Don't believe me? Ask anyone you know that went to an all girls dorm or something like that..it's no fun.

Psychically there is no contest. We have higher pain level despite what the ladies want to believe, we have more muscle compared to fat, we are faster we can take in more toxins.

So for the statement could either of us rule the world without the other gender?
No.. women would die rather quickly in struggle for power and men would die out later for inventing something with no other purpose just to kill itself just because it could be done.
Is one better than the other?
It's more likely that both are depended on each other.

Response to: Joining the army Posted March 1st, 2012 in General

I do feel that temp conscription ( if that's the right word for forced temp. service time ) would be a good thing to bring back. If you look back at our old tribe system there were a lot of rituals that a person had to go through before he was acknowledged as a man. It pulls you from your context of your personal life as it teaches you how to get in shape, work toghether and do small chores throughout the day to keep your shit toghether.
And gives you that "now I am a man" feeling even if it's mostly symbolic. that's better than the scare one day when a guy calls you mister and you say "wtf....already?" while you picking out what video game to buy.

As for being in the army itself you put your life on the line for a grand chess game that is so complicated that you would need a almost a lifetime to understand it, chosing to participate in that game without knowing what side your on just seems foolish to me. I mean you can kill plenty of people indirectly by buying products that way you can still sleep nice and throw the occasional dollar for charity to make yourself believe you are a good person.
Unless you do it for a later career as a hired gun.
There plenty of people I know who use the army time to jump into organisations that protect human rights in foreign countries in a A-team kind of way. But all of them did retire when they reached 30 or got a kid. Most of them had to desert on occasion when they thought to have picked the right group to protect. And then when that group was in power the same shit happened to their previous opressors. So even if you can pick your battles it's still complicated.

So i'll stick to the indirect killing and blame my goverment and capitalistic system for it while eating chips and playing skyrim.

On top of that she had what the vet called roughly translated a old dog cardiac arrest. So she lost 80% of her vision, her ballance and hearing. Still from time to time she seems enjoying herself but really tries to find people in the room in order to calm down ( feel safe ). She is 16 year old so I had the around since I was 9. She got a couple weeks left now we try to enjoy it but I no longer live at home so I only see her at weekends.

As for the accusations of racism, I highly doubt a white man would defy the police like that unless he was a dumb wigger. Then he would have been shot just the same as that guy. But of course every time a minority gets killed by the cops it's automatically considered racist.

This seems somwhat true, I once was held over by a cop because I returned home after a towns party while still finnishing my beer from the party. A cop pulled over and asked me to empty the beer, ( bit weird since my house was only 1 street away from the party but given my limited knowledge of the law I did. He nodded, said thanks and drove off.

Now my Afghanistan friend is also walking to my house to meetup. According to him he got a ticket for drinking publicly and nearly got arrested and after hearing my story called him a racist. Of course after rechecking that story with some my other pals that walked with him he did not comply the cop and started calling the cops names and when they came with the ticket he throw the beer at the cop car.

Also people in general are assholes that's why the cop has to be asshole to counter the assholeness of the general population. In fact the Milgram and other experiments shows that 70% of the population is highly dangerous without order.

It really depends on what the forum is associated with. If I go to a forum associated with podcast's about the progress of human kind ( scientific, culturally etc ) I join a community where most members are actually far more intelligent than me. Which is frankly refreshing since I sometimes give up hope on mankind if I read to much youtube comments ;).
In fact most those guys are so smart I can't even relay the things they say to another person most the time.

Ng board on the other hand is an entertainment site. Which basicly focuses on cartoons, from which the populair movies are not exactly known to trigger our brains :) . So you get a bulk of people coming to the site that are not triggered to critical thinking ( which is no problem as its not its purpose ), who are mostly of young age, who have avatars which are overexaruated presentations of their real life personality who true their hobby lean on the interest or look up to animators who are not rocket scientists either or could even be called emotionally stable. Add some trolls to that and people seeking their small moment of shine by coming up with a untrue but instigating story and you basicly get some messed up conversations.

It's really a shame for me, when I come here I am only interested in topics concerning any reference to either animators, animations or general opinions about the communty surrounding ng. I dont care about some suposed boy portraying as a girl who thinks she got pregnant from getting fingered. So for me the relevant discussions are getting drowned out by these filler topics, which makes me rarely visit the forum in the first place.

For Christians, if they're wrong and sadly there's no God then oh well atleast after they die they won't know that they're wrong but if they're right then that means eternal paradise.

So I think being atheist will always suck even if they are right.

This is wrong aproach to view it. There are hundreds of thousands of different religions on this world with dietys and different rules to get into their respective "heaven". The size of popular religions are caused by historic events and people dont chose their religion freely.

Whetever someone picks a religion or not is greatly if not at all dependant on personal background. So a christian in america would never been christian if he grew up in a country with another populair religion. Even if you believe in god there are different religion forms such as protestants etc eventually the chance of you actually having the right religion to get into heaven is only 0.0001% chance mostly depending on place of birth. Even then you must abide to all rules of your religion which leaves even smaller chance to get into heaven.

With other words you can believe in god and still roughly have same chance of going into this "hell" as any atheist.
