It was either Jagged Alliance or fallout, but I would love to see a fallout jagged alliance hybrid someday.
I think it's a fair social trade off.
For example in our country you can say something like: tering, or krijg de tering. Which means in translation f*ck me ( when hurt) or f*ck you, however it can also be interpreted as "get cancer".
When I was young it was the goto word when I bumped my little toe against the chair, but as you can imagine it was not accepted by everyone around me. So after I got older and saw the negative effects of the actual decease and countless of negative feedback situations, I refrained from venting my emotion with this word and replaced it by "chips". Which is a tasty treat.
So I think it's currently a fair system, the person that uses a curse word the wrong way will eventually be the one hurting himself in terms of likability, maternity and or seriousness. And will need to change that habit into something more positive eventually.
At least that how it works in real life. If you go onto internet it's a different story and people should pack a bigger shell.
Unless they are connected online to the real world then the same rules. ( some people tend to forget that )

I do love how gamers are a special breed of consumers that happily let themselves be exploited for the greater good of the industry.
Instead of the industry adapting to consumers need it's the gamers that always pre-order to make the stockholders happy, buy 1st day dlc or dlc's to get the better ending or upper hand in a pay 2 win model. In fact more models include punishment to those who do not pre-order by cutting out valid game experience like a hard mode or anything similar so that the user doesn't get the full experience.
Though many consumers from other markets are in similar situations like the tenant that pays 5% over his energy bill as administration costs to his landlord or the guy that comes to the store to buy a kitchen from the action advert to be told that the action in fact was a plain bait and switch tactic. These guys are not exactly fond of those people or type of deals.
So while I laughed my ass off at the xbox reveal video ( in pain ), I was happy to see how many negative responds it had. This is not what I looked for in a console and many agreed. I see this as a good development to finally see some people stepping up.
However the anti 2e hand use approach by xbox one is not frowned upon by all. Many state that it's bad for the industry that people with a low budget can freely buy and sell games second hand. Their opinions are well supported as the current system is pretty much flawed. But not allowing used games isnâEUTMt the answer; stopping retailers from taking advantage of gamers and developers is. But it feels like we are again the guys that will pay for the bills.

There are many causes and conspiracies. Some says it's an immigration problem. Personally I think it's a multicultural problem. For years, Sweden tries to be like Canada by opening door for immigrants.
What do you think?
Usually a bad immigration policy is the cause. Immigration only works well with good integration. But for good integration you need two main parts:
1) Individuals who's culture is progressive instead of conservative.
2) Individuals are to be spread evenly over the society.
Usually one or both are absent, thus failing the whole immigration plan in its core.
To stay on the level of the topic opener's issue.
Most brazilians have a parasitic decease called toxoplasmosis which in males causes a more aggressive nature and higher forms of jealously. So it's the parasite that hates america, not the brazilians themselves.
Darkfall Online.
I remember looking forward to the game. The game had a 12 page feature list. Players could build their own towns and villages, boats and capture mounts. Clans could join large alliances with advanced tax systems for their sectors. There would be a full fps combat system with an elder scrolls type of skill leveling system and skill decay for those skills not used. So if you would want to play as a mage all you had to do was start using spells and eventually the ranger and/or warrior skills would decay and you would become a mage instead of rerolling. The game was full loot and full pvp and everything was skill based, the first goblins would try to kite you and easily kill you and 3 starting players could team up and bring down a veteran in epic equipment, stealing his belongings and mount. AIl guards would guard the clan towns if hired, trading would start convoys which could be attacked by rivaling clans or bandit players. Large wars of 200 vs 200 players in full fps combat supported. And mobs would grow dynamically so a group of goblins left alone for to long would evolve from a camp into a town, into a goblin fotress etc. Interesting stuff right?
It got a 2/10 by eurogamer :D. Soon after release I found it weird that a lot of features started dissapearing on the site one by one. It got a bad review, but the company that made dfo stated that the reviewer only played half an hour and was lying. But the truth came out pretty fast, the game UI was horrible. The so called guards were nothing more than towers that did scripted damage at certain intervals to tresspassers. The trading system was nothing more than a chat menu. There was no skill decay so every player became a maxed hybrid so having equipment was useless. Those large battles became really ackward.
Everything was broken. People were free to chose weapons but there were no trade offs. People with knives had shorter range and lower damage and people with halberds had the best reach, speed and damage and so naturally the ranged weapons did even more damage. Small characters had smaller hitboxes but same health as bigger characters and you had to aim down to hit em losing side of your surroundings. You had to grind certain recipes for days to fire only twice, which then only did 5% damage or didn't work at all.
A person can call a A++ class game like COD bad if it's not his cup of tea. But man, you can't call something the worst with games like darkfall online around :D
I played on classic and ironmanmode and lost my crew in the final mission's last room.
Still love it though.
Also gonna check out the DOS version soon. In those older games your base etc could also be attacked, levels were rendered randomly and the squad size was much bigger. Of course at the price of seeing it all in DOS graphics :O
Hope I can stand it seeing how it could be the best strategy game feature wise.
I swing a lot in weight. Last summer for example I was 167.2 lbs after losing 55 lbs in couple of weeks.
I started doing sports minimum of 2 times a week, following a short but effective training schedule.
I did a carbon hydrate addiction reset diet. Eating only 2x eggs in the morning, eating vegetables in the midday, and lot of vegetables and 1 piece of meat at night for 8 days. Resseting the sugar rush you get from bread, pasta, rice, potatoes etc., after witch you can slowly reintroduce carbonhydrates to normal meals.
Really effective to reach that <10% fat for six pack while not feeling hungry throughout the rest of the callorie diet ( 1000 a day ). Unfortunately also a good recipe for getting the yoyo effect, when on holiday and suddenly drinking large ammounts of alcohol and going out to eat with friends 2 times a day resulted in a 2 pants size growth ( which I luckily brought with me ) in just 6 days. Reaching from sixpack to a level of 213.4 lbs.
I have to push myself to stay at low level, with my normal eating habbit 2x bread in morning, 2 times midday, fruit and normal evening dish I stick around at 191.4 lbs. And I can gain litterally 9lbs in a long weekend if I let myself go. Comparing that to my brothers metabolism who sits around the house all day smoking weed, drinking booze and eating pizza while having a perfect sixpack and my colleague who needs to eat nuts to not die from a heart attack ( 2 low fat percentage ) I think that natural metabolism does have something to do with how fat a guy is.
That said though I just lose weight for the sex appeal in the summer, I couldn't care less other wise. There are plenty people dying of hunger, we won the lottery ticket just by being born in a western country. Should you get heart problems at 55 you still have had a much better life than that african kid who lost most his family when he was young and died of hunger at age 14. I'd say there are relatively more pressing matters than a bit of fat under the skin ;)
At least it's funny to read how you manage to dodge each others questions, you should become politicians ;)

I read some of the reports mentioned in that pdf some time ago. I really dislike the overall "we can proof the other theory is bad and that we are on the right track, but still don't have used the resources to come with an definite theory" response.
While the conclusion ties well together with the results of which sex makes the better parent theories, I would have loved to see a more bald and progressive conclusion tying other fields together to test it.
That said it's nice that you continue this conversation, but what are we doing here? We got one person who is adequate in bringing her points. But her weakness is her age and like she stated herself, her upbringing. The points themselves conflict with the title name, when I came here I was expecting a new twist. So I thought about the financial exploitation of marriage by non gay guys, or something like that. But it´s from a conservative, so it might feel new to her but´s it not new to us. I would suggest further personal growth by spending some time in a top 10 listed progressive country, just to get some personal growth done before you are 25. Hell
Her points are:
1) Being homosexual is a choice, because what you do, determines who you are. It's like driving a car, makes you a driver.
2) Gay parents can't raise a child well.
3) Mariage is solely used for pro recreation
4) And if you allow gays to marry, people will marry a dog
We got passed this. Sticking to an ideal being either conservative or progressive has no practical value. You should accept that some things change while others stay the same.
A good example of the usefulness is the marriage with a dog part, it's purely a philosophical standpoint. It has no practical value as the bond of marriage can only happen in consent by both parties. If a young male or female are deemed unfit to grasp the reality of their situation, we don't let them marry until they reach a proper age. How the hell could a dog consent to a marriage? The answer is we wouldn't allow it. If the conversation trails to far from this you are reinventing reality.
It's a clever gimmick to compare ssm to marrying a dog, I give you that.
But you guys are insulting the progress we have made sofar by replying in this discussion so seriously.
If you are interested in this you should try to get your hands on Zbigniew Brzezinski's the grand chess game. It's a good book and portray's fairly well why the nations react the way they do.
I think the topic in itself is a very clever and controversial form of an april fools joke. With the classic picture of a female icon from the days with this type of thought process.
At least that is what I hope, because my country was the first who introduced ssm as a law in the world. And it's painfull to read a discussion that's so regressive in contrast.
Look the problem with ssm is that there is no problem. Countries that have implemented this, show that the institution of marriage can be tempered with without having direct effects on society. This could have to do with the adaptability of our species to altering situations, but could also indicate a more scaring truth in which marriage is nothing more than a ideal. And that our perception of it's value differs significantly from the actual value it has in reality.
Which is not hard to believe if you research human kind and the power of tradition.
I found out that I watch most lets plays for entertainment purposes because I miss that part of my life where I could visit a friend and drink some beer while he plays the resident evil gamecube remake. I think because of that stuff like game grumps tickles me in the right way. That said if I do have the time I still prefer playing a game myself and use reviews from reviewers who have similar tastes than mine to show me the path ;)

At 1/20/13 06:47 AM, TheKlown wrote: Our President is religious unless he is lying about being a Christian, would that mean you're technically calling our President a moron for having a Religion?
"Technically" one can call the president a moron for many reasons, but calling him a moron for being or acting Christian in order to become president and lead a country full of them, is not "technically" a valid reason.
@backtopic
Look religion is not a discussion between theist and atheist. There are many people who do not believe in god who are religious and there is a even larger percentage of people being theist without having a religion. So basically religion needs to be seen as its own entity, if you want to have any progress in the discussion. Because people have a whole spectrum in what they do and do not believe.
Why religion is so often attacked and in such a crude way, is because most people who are religious are brought up that way and because the church is in command of their spiritual development, most of the individual grows up with mainly Christian values. Of which a large portion is considered "good", but also a large portion is no longer acceptable in modern times and slowing our advances as a species.
Even though some Christians, like the topic opener, seem on the right track. The extremist he talks about are actually the ones who are officially still in charge. Which we see as a fundamental problem. You can all easily understand that if a system control depends on a top to base control scheme. That when the top is deemed unfit, the rest of the system can be seen fundamentally flawed. This is why many anti religious people attack the entity as a whole
And despite the extremist actually being the main target, we use tactics called dehumanisation and generalisation to discredit the people on the bottom . We do this in order to make the discussion and nature of the problem more basic and easier to tackle. Because we believe that religion brings up fundamental problems and should therefore be tackled fundamentally.
In most cases, like this one, it leads to conflict with people that we don't really want to conflict with. On the other hand we cannot leave it to them to fix their own religion as it's build in such a way that you cannot really gain much power within the system, if you do not follow the rules they have set-up. But also because they all have different values that they want to bring to the table, making the problem more complicated.
I really hate the gamers who still defend this game.
Not only is it questionable 2 have micro transactions in a survivor zombie game with PVP elements ( pay2win and pay2survive), that also can be lost after death resulting in a rebuy ($$$). But defending a game that sells under false pretences? That's not the type of game development you want to support in the first place, even if you do enjoy the game.
Look I already dislike 1st day DLC or the exploiting of natural addictions done by mmorpg developers. But the idea that people don't see this marketing scam for what it is and condone this behaviour for future companies to follow frightens me.
Anyone played this thing? Just popped out of nowhere on my steam feature list and top sales.
The videos show an marine vs alien shooter / strategy game and it looks super.
Yet I can't seem to find any reviews about it.
Personally I can't contribute that much to the conversation as in my country abortion hasn't been an issue since 1984 and you can even kill yourself if you feel like it by a doctor here.
So I am from a completely different mind set, where the sanctity of life only contributes where it's beneficial and helpful to community members and not where the rules and illusions have come to a point that it's not helping anybody.
Because let's face it, anti-abortion it's a bit immature and hypocritical.
On one hand you try to protect this bunch of cells that is likely not going to grow up fine with a mother that didn't want it in the first place ruining her future succes and dreams, while at same time having no problems eating beings with more braincells, indirectly starving people with the free trade system and blowing up hundreds and hundreds of innocents in order to gain a hand full of bad guys.
Look many of us live in a illusion where we can laugh at guys like kim jung un ( or whatever ) because he is fat while suposedly starving his people. And we stand in the mirror with a fat belly or sport 3 times a week to avoid that, thinking we are better because we close our eyes once our penny's leave the border.
But at least let those illusions be beneficial for your life and your surrounding don't call an issue complicated when it's not.
You got a girl, she doesn't want the child, she doesn't think she is ready, it was mistake in the first place. You gonna cry over unborn child killed in a state where it doesn't even have 5% understanding of what's going on compared to an ant let alone the food you eat every day and not even comparing all the dreams and hopes lost by your countries political millitary actions :)

Requirements are close to Quad Core CPU or Dual Core CPU (Intel Core 2.8 GHz, AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400 + or faster), 2GB, Nvidia Geforce 8800GT, ATI Radeon 4850 or faster (with Shader Model 3 and 512 MB VRAM). A slow hard drive might result in loss of fps when near towns.
Dayz is 2 inconsistent to be called repetitive, however this inconsistency could be the very reason not to like it when games such as left4dead, re etc all have pretty consistent gameplay. There is also not a clear goal other than just surviving because it's in alpha. And the actual finished product will either be part of arma 3 or stand alone game , in order to make it easier to program and implement more survival things and zombie types and behaviors.
That said if I had to write all the memorable events almost movie like events here I would have to type 4 pages. Even a small task as getting fire wood from a super market can take a very weird twist if 2 gunmen run in and start firing at the 50 zombies they pulled. ( do you help them, just to get shot after? do you escape risking the hordes attention on you? do you kill em and escape while the zombies eat? ) No game offers you those choices unscripted, but the games inconsistency can also make your character die in a corner of a map as he got lost trying to find medicine to cure his pneumonia.
@tramps
First off let me say that hosts.msn in 70% of the time is result after installing illegal software. So you might want to check that one first as it's most likely to be compromised and most likely to divert gamespy traffic.
What you could do is copy both the "hosts. " and "hosts.msn" to your desktop or a personal folder and simply edit them with wordpad or similar to remove all lines at the bottom that are not "127.0.0.1 localhost" and then copy em back, overwriting the ones in the original folder.
If you don't feel secure about it you can add # in front of a line and remove it later when it causes problems.

Sounds like connection problem with gamespy itself.
If I were you I would register with BIS forums and ask for help there, the only solution I have is that your host file is maybe not clean. This files is located in system32\drivers\etc and when opened should only show the line "127.0.0.1 localhost" if more lines show up and you have not placed em there then a trojan has licked it.
A quick bypass while you wait for solution is to googling : "arma 2 server stats" pick a dayz server, copy the adress, tab back into multiplayer screen, click remote and paste the ip there. Now only that server shows up but at least you can join it as you wait for fix.
I never found a vehicle yet, one time I did see a helicopter fly over that gave me awesome feeling as I was slaughtering a goat. Maybe it's because I usually circle around the west side of the island between Kamenka and north airfield, Zelenogorsk is my favourite town. But personally I don't mind walking, with my driving skills probably die at the first rubble on road, would love a helicopter though.

Don't know seems issue more fitting for steam forum. On other hand I bought my combined operations on a website for similar price. Sometimes steam patches the game before the server admin does and you end up your gaming having the latest patch while all the servers are unreachable anyway.

It must be from the bump in popularity and I'm hoping it'll smooth over soon.
Hopefully it'll be working soon, but until then I have plenty of other games to play.
Once all the servers go down for update or maintenance, it takes pretty long before they show up since a couple guys need to manually install the updates on each server ( since all servers are individual arma 2 send as a gift to DayZ devs. When they show up again everyone frantically joins up the game at the same time this puts tremendous loads on the master server resulting in massive loading time, which is already long for a new player.
Still for an alpha it's amazing game experience and I hope they work out a deal later with bohemia interactive to make a standalone game. Because now the engine is build for land/sea and air warfare with countless of vehicles should they adapt the basic engine to zombie experience and you basicly get the best experience you can get from a zombie game.
The fear I have in this game with the creepy atmosphere and chance of dying is really unique. If your character is alive over 14 days you really start to distrust everyone zombie and survivor alike and when you actually die the first thing you feel is relief that the nightmare is over. Of course after 2 minutes of sinking in the ragequit comes. :D
At 5/20/12 09:41 AM, Jackho wrote: Sounds damn good. Can you play with the free version of Arma II?
Unfortunately no. There are tricks to get to play though for less money. ArmA 2 combined ops is basicly ArmA 2 + ArmA2 OA.
So you could only buy OA on steam for 15 euro and put the addons from ArmA 2 free in the addon folder of ArmA2 OA.
But then you got a game that uses the low textures from ArmA 2 free and good ones from OA. That is gonna look weird exspecially since combined ops is 25 euros ( 10 euros more ).
You could wait though since summer deals on steam are not far away. And the game mode though awesome is still in child shoes.
It's a highly popular mod on armed assault 2 combined ops, to the point that arma2 has peeked a couple of times to top1 most played games on steam ( which was never the case before, because arma 2 is a hardcore warsim ), most gamers buy the game just for the mod.
The game mod is a combination between zombie apocalypse, stalker/fallout and hungergames ( battleroyale ) on a 250km^2 island based on the real thing. There 100+ servers with 50 player slots and there is one master server that saves your location/gear/health and extras such as vehicles so you can join freely on another server to continue your game.
The mod though in alpha is the best thing if you like the whole walking dead type of experience, but it's brutal and unforgiving. Not to mention that to even run this you will need a medium to high end pc. The game is enjoyed in single player experience but also when you band together with a group of friends.
The first time you play your character will start on a island on the coast ( south or eastern in this czech/ post-soviet based setting )
And you will die within 10 minutes. ( That's the actual average life span of a character in DayZ ). So don't worry a lot of knowledge, skill or experience is required to make a character able to survive longer. But the longer you survive the bigger the fear becomes that he might eventually find his demise as permadeath is just one mistake away. 15 days is my record.
Game summup:
- You start with just a handgun and ammo to survive a few zombie attacks, food and drinks for an hour and a small backpack for extra items. You don't have a compass, map, cutting knife, watch, lighter....tools you need to survive.
- Items can be found in any town, police/fire station, army camp, barn ...basicly anything with a roof over it spawns random stuff. Unfortuantly the buildings that can be entered even in a town are scarse ( fallout level ). So you really must get a eye for which building type has biggest chance of being open.
- Your constantly forced to keep moving and scavenge but the risks will be bigger and bigger, but unlike fallout vegas hardcore mode it will never get tedious. In fact the longer you survive the more you have to lose. Greater awards can be founds in malls in large towns, airfields, military bases, but risks are greater 2.
- You can logout after your character is saved but if you logon later the character will be hungy and thirsty while not playing. He wont die or die just after login back in but logging out without having spare food and drink will make the game harder on the login. It might sound nasty but it all works towards the necessity to survive feeling.
- Zombies can be shot but noise attracts more, the bigger and better your gun the more sound it will make.
You will need to learn to sneak past zombies, of course with risk of getting spotted while in to deep behind enemy lines.
Crouching is best to sneak but there are zombies that prefer to lie down ( most likely of missing limbs ) and the grass grows pretty high in arma 2. Zombie numbers depend on location a barn filled with food and maybe chance of finding old winchester will have around 7 zombies at most, making a mishap in a town will most likely be your last mistake as 200 zombies will rush you from all sides ( a good moment to shoot your fellow survivor in the leg and make a run for it walking dead style ). In a open field 3 zombies can easily kill you...so guess what 200 zombies can do.
- You are not alone on the server there are survivors. You can communicate with them using in game speech ( with arma 2's lipsync function, so the character is actually speaking your words ) or type text in chat. A survivor is just another player, he can be friendly, scared for his life, out to kill you for your can of beans, your beautifull rifle or just for fun. Players that kill other players to often become known as bandits. Bandits also have a different character skin and killing them doesn't turn you into one. Making friends in early characters life is the best idea and avoid em completely later unless you can share a ts channel with em. Always avoid groups even the friendliest players turn into merciless monsters in groups towards outsiders.
- You can find tents and vehicles that will be saved with you. Tents are placed where you can store items and join another server without losing that extra portion of items, it's basicly your diablo chest :). Vehicles makes traveling and meeting up with people easier, your even capable to find choppers. But these vehicles are very rare, hard to repair and maybe even harder to maintain and make a hell of a noice.
- Damage is really dynamic. A grenade can knock you out and leave damage to your hearing, falling of a ladder and you can injure your tendon or snap your bones. 2 much damage and you can start bleeding or your heart rate can suffer. You got bandages, pain killers etc to keep yourself and your friends alive. If you lose to much blood you vision gets blurry, darker and your view distance narrows in or you might even faint. This will not go away on it's own..time to risk your life and/or your friend in patching you back up with the necessary item scavenging.
- You will need to learn real map learning skills. I once played with a guy who played battlefield 2 project reality and had a car so he could read road maps. ArmA 2 is bit harder than that and roadmap reading is not the same as pinpointing your position between 2 forest lines in the middle of nowhere :D. Your going to need to develop experience with this.
All in all the game really pulls you in. Unfortuatly the game does not come without problems in it's alpha stage, so the goal is limited to surviving in a sandbox zombie game.
ArmA 2 the main engine is not bug free either, your standing in shallow water to refuel you waterbottle and all of sudden your gear gets wet and useless ( even when not submerged ), you fall of a ladder because of an animation bug that can occur if your holding a pistol while climbing, GUI exspecially surrounding picking up slots and dragging stuff from you inv. to your bagback is all pretty difficult and can end up throwing away items if you doing it wrong without you realising.
All in all the best zombie survival experience. Here some vids please know that the level of seriousness of playing this results in the level of survivability :D
