FL has one of the best help files of any program ever, if all else fails.

southern hemisphere = christmas in summer :v

make sure the sample rate is 44.1KHz, this is the only sampling rate that the audio portal supports
i like it when they ask first and don't tell me that creative commons "only applues to CDs" :v
for real though, it's kinda neat. even when the derivative work kinda sucks balls.

because when it's done right it doesn't kill anything!
seems like some of ya'll wanna listen to early 00's trance 5eva, which isn't a bad thing in itself but then you go and make a thread like this. it's like saying that popular metal bands are ruining it coz they don't have rappers or DJs anymore.
also the big build -> anticlimax trope isn't new, pretty much every fatboy slim and chemical brothers track uses it. but then try telling me with a straight face that you don't go nuts when the rockerfeller skank finally reaches full speed and goes back into exactly the same pattern as the first half of the track :v
trap is the best, deal w/ it
each song shouldn't be the same dB all the way through either, unless you're talking about dB RMS

huh, that's pretty neat! i think she has sib 7 but hated all the interface changes so she doesn't use it.
VSL sounds great. dat price though, might need to budget around it :v
@deadlyfishes, those examples sound pretty fab, how has your user experience with EW been?
most of her future work has been more classical stuff for smaller ensembles, she's had pieces recorded before but rehearsals are a pain to organise (or so she says :v)
but yeah, that's exactly the sort of info i was after peter, thanks! miroslav looks pretty great, but i might poke around sib users forums to see if the PLAY engine is even an issue in 6.x, mostly seems to be regular DAW users complaining about it
At 12/3/13 09:49 PM, Crimsonskies455 wrote: Ahh no. I promise on that. Youtube will put ADs BEFORE the video though which I cannot control
does youtube do this with every video now? i've had adblock for so long i just don't even know anymore :v
huh, EWQL doesn't really sound that much better based on your example. are you using sibelius or something else?
also, is the PLAY engine really super shitty?
HEY, so I'm getting my girlfriend one of those orchestral sound library things for xmas cause she's a composition major and she's always complaining about the stock sounds in sibelius 6. SOOOO I need to get something that:
a) will work in Sibelius 6.x
b) won't be super complicated to use once it's installed
Been looking at Garritan Personal Orchestra and it looks pretty good, but ya'll know more about this shit than I do! Price isn't an issue btw.
every single song on the audio portal is under a CC BY-NC-SA license
sooooo just grab the songs you like from the AP, mix them, and then release the mix under the same license. no need for the tl;dr post.
good luck finding mixable tracks though, people here seem to think that dj-friendly intros/outros mean that the song is repetitive and boring

That is why most people can sing better than they can play an instrument, they talk daily. talent is a small factor in music, only affecting beginners and extreme virtuosos.
holy shit i can't believe you could actually type that bullshit opinion without a shred of irony. well done.

polyphone is probably the best free soundfont editor at the moment.
you could also try viena or vienna (both different sf2 editors), but afaik they're kinda dated (i.e. pretty much abadonware now)
if you mean in the descriptions of your audio submissions, that's totally fine!

at the top left of the plugin window there's a drop-down menu (next to the cog icon), select "browse parameters" and a list of the parameters will appear in the browser. right click the one you want to link and select "link to controller" as usual. the last thing you changed in the plugin window will be highlighted automatically, which is handy!
hello
i like anything that doesn't sound like crap video game music
also no orchestral hans zimmer worship pls
last time i did this santa made me a really good song!
why would you want personal validation from a community full of people wracked with self-doubt?
also ad thread n all that
if you're worried then don't post it here, problem solved
FL can't do VBR mp3 encoding, if that's a problem then definitely bounce to .wav first

Credit is being given in the video's.
check out Evil Dog, Back From Purgatory and Kor Rune for really professional punk/metal/rock oriented stuff
also Atomsmasha and garlagan for no-nonsense techno/electronica without trite video game melodies
there's probably a bunch more but those are the first that come to mind
oh and not to be patronising, but please remember to talk to the artists themselves and let them know what you're doing and get their express permission (mainly re: whether or not you're making money from your vids). cheers!
make really trite melodic unce music with too much reverb and pretend to be female

goldwave can do this with the pitch effect, afaik
is this something to do with phase?
At 11/10/11 01:16 PM, BrokenDeck wrote: Even when you're not using their tracks for profit, it's a matter of courtesy at the very least to ask people first if you can use their music.
but if they say no release your derivative work under a CC BY-NC-SA license and then use their music anyway
alternatively, any waveshaping effect can produce a similar sound. i like cyanide2, just cause it has a bit more character than something like fruity waveshaper

mda combo
set it to DI and smash the gain up (and then adjust the output level to compensate)
this sort of thing should be a news post on your profile
nobody really knows who you are
