fruityloops 3.5.6 :P (good luck finding it though!)

serious suggestion: you can take the demo plugins off the drop down list. right click a channel or left click a mixer track, roll over the "insert" option and select "more". then you can uncheck the little [F] icon next to any DEMO plugins. you won't see them in the regular plugin list after that.

if there's other demo features besides plugins in the way i think they're stuck there

you did that with the LFO tool for that, yeah? just use the LFO tool again, but first make a dummy note in the piano roll where you want the panning to end.
So, that is the tool what i'm searching for? Well, it's gray, so i can't choose it. Why? I haven't use it never before.

oh, it's because you're editing the event in the piano roll window. right click the pan control and select "edit events" to open the event window, then press alt+O to open the LFO tool. more info: www.image-line.com/support/FLHelp/html/automation_eventeditor_lfo.htm

although it's probably easier to just remove the event completely and use fruity panomatic or something like that.

since you're basically trying to start a "review for review" thread just for VA's why not review other peoples' voice demos first?

the switch to "auto" happens cause it's stretching the sample to keep the sample at the same length. switching back to "resample" will make sample length relative to pitch. if that makes sense. :v

so yeah, "resample" is just the same thing as playing the sample on a different note anyway, so if you want to do it like that then just use the piano roll or change the root note of the sample

At 1/15/14 05:42 PM, mhb wrote: because 8-bit sounds only came in triangle, square, and static.

oh, i didn't realise the NES was the only 8-bit console, handheld or computer. or that nobody ever thought to put expansion sound chips in the game cartridges. or that the default NES sound chip also had a channel devoted to DPCM sampling. lol.

because new speaker systems weren't designed with mono output in mind.

no, but they need to be built to play mono input in phase, otherwise it won't be able to play multiple channels in phase.

i mean what do you think happens when you play mono input through stereo or even 5.1 surround? nothing breaks and nothing sounds 'wrong'. unless the speakers are broken or wired incorrectly :v

true 8-bit is a damned sms hooked up to a shitty black and white tv.

you can emulate it all you want, but unless you got the proper equipment, it will never sound exact.

so your solution was to make it sound as un-exact as possible, thereby defeating the purpose of making 8-bit music in the first place. seems legit.

anyway, the moral of this derailment is that using hard-panned GM patches in lieu of 8-bit emulation is a really dumb idea and my personal recommendation to OP is to definitely not do that. peace!

what does that have to do with your crappy suggestion to use GM square patches or the totally ludicrous notion that newer speaker systems "can't handle mono input"? :v

i don't think there was ever a PSG chip that outputted two channels through separate outputs :v

Response to: Ask your FruityLoops questions here Posted January 11th, 2014 in Audio

your song is clipping. in a pinch you can turn the volume down or use a limiter on the master channel to fix it, but the real solution is to get better at mixing :P

re: formulae, in your effects list you should have the fruity formula controller unless you removed it from favourites. basically a peak controller/LFO on steroids, but you need to do all the math yourself

I suppose I could just draw an envelope, but I'd rather link Fruity Formula Controller to some knob. Is there a pitch-changing FX I could put into an insert in the mixer? Thanks in advance.

unless you need the vibrato on just one operator, why not use the channel pitch?

since the channel pitch range is 4 octaves either way, you can make the vibrato range easier to manage by changing the preset formula to something like a+Sin(SongTime*Pi*x*c)*(0.1*(b-0.5)), where x represents the max vibrato speed you want.

At 1/6/14 07:56 PM, AquariusCyclone wrote: It seems that you can't edit the shown sine formula directly, as FFC just ignores my changes.

you need to press "COMPILE" for changes to take effect

for the formula a+Sin(SongTime*Pi*2*c)*(b-0.5) you can change the 2 to a higher value to increase the speed. the a/b/c variables have a maximum value of 1, so that's something to keep in mind!

I have tried doing this in fruity slicer by adjusting the pitch slider however that's just doing it by ear and it doesnt really give me a clear indication of whether or not its correctly pitched. Thanks in advance.

you could always just find a free tuning VST to look at while you adjust the pitch (MTuner is really good and comes with a massive bundle of good free stuff from melda production)
actually you can run pitcher and just go off of the "input pitch" needle
