I actually don't agree with MrMacro, it sounds fun actually, but it would be extremely hard and would take forever to make.

If someone decides to make this, you get my 5

Here is just a sample of the axe going off the screen and then coming back in...

You can use that crappily drawn axe, or draw your own, your choice

Topic: "Pass The Axe" Collab

Posted: 02/01/08 09:47 PM

Forum: Flash

Ok, I'm taking the advice of Souled. I started the pico collab and well...my part was crap and all that stuff, so I decided to create a collab with a point. Thanks Souled.

Ok, so this collab is based on Pass The Axe by Dark Lotus

The idea is that you animate a guy doing a hatchet (...ugh reminds me of Pain Olympics...GET IT AWAY!) and then somehow it flys out of his hand and flys out of the right side of the screen. In the next part the axe would come flying in on the left side and another person would catch the axe and do something with it and etc.

Specifications

You can use ANY style of animating here. You can use FBF, 100% Tweening (as long as it looks good), or anything else you can think of (I already have my part thought out, it's not going to be an animation...but more of an...art)

FPS: 24

Length: 10-30 seconds (may be a little longer or a little shorter, not much though)

Song: I'm not sure about what to use as a song, of course we could use pass the axe...but it just doesn't seem like a collab song, any suggestions are welcome

Background: White, but you could (and probably should) draw your own :p

Size: 550x400

Sounds: Try to stay away from sound effects, but you can use them if you want

Fonts: If you want to use custom fonts, send the fft file to me, or else I will have to change it to a text I actually have on my computer

Sticks/Sprites: I don't really like sprites, but if thats the only kind of animation you can do, we'll see...As for sticks, only if they are really good.

Rules: You may use blood, and a little swearing, but don't make it pointless
Things I Don't Want: 'Ocks, All "Gangs" (unless it is good), Other Inappropriate Things (Besides Listed Above)

Deadline: Whenever

I'm not even sure...I think about that sometimes...I guess you animate for fun, but theres really no point to it and its just wasting days, months, and sometimes years of your life..

But yet I continue to make flash...go figure

ouch, that hurts man

that thing takes forever to make! and everyone else liked my other animations that I made using tgus technique

hmm...if it makes people feel better, I can make another part?
I'd suggest thinking of a unique theme for a collab, not just one like Ninjas or something, something like 50 frames or one layer. But an idea much better. And sorry I didn't want to hurt you.. :( (it was a good sprite, just a pointless animation)

haha you didn't actually hurt me, a lot of people said it sucked before, so don't worry about it

yeah it was kinda pointless, but it doesn't really need a story if its in a collab does it?

But those things take forever to make, cuz think animating that with 1 click every frame, filling in one 12 pixel square every frame...it gets kinda annoying

var mc:MovieClip = duplicateMovieClip(.....);

nevermind that, I got it to work

2.) how to get rid of the things. see my fla for what happens. But after you die, it goes to the next frame, but there are still objects on the screen, I tried
I'm not going to download any .fla file but if you have a counter for how many "things" you have on stage and you call them "things1", "things2" etc you can do something like this:

for(var i:Number = 0; i < COUNTER; i += 1){
_root["things"+i].removeMovieClip();
}

but they are dupes, and I don't exactly know what its duplicating them as, so I dunno if its things1 things2 or t1, t2

3.) make it so that the things can get in, but once they are in, if they hit the edge (this on a border, btw) they bounce off of it...(look at the night of the ninja's to see what I mean, when the ninjas hit the border they bounce off)
Say you have a xspd. Just make that xspd positive if you walk to the left border (_x<0) and make it negative if you walk to the right border (_x>Stage.width)

umm...can you speak in a language a noob could understand?

hmm...there is always The wonderful pico day anthem by JAZZA, but then I'd have to cut up the parts, which I don't want to do, but if this would be a better collab song, I'd be willing to do it

I need someone to do the intro, and if possible, a cool pico preloader.

Ok, so we all know Pico Day 08 is coming pretty soon (April 31st for those who don't know). I decided to start my first collab (well, I started another collab but 0 people signed up...) and have it be ALL about Pico, I hope this one works out.

Specifications

You can use ANY style of animating here. You can use FBF, 100% Tweening (as long as it looks good), or anything else you can think of (I already have my part thought out, it's not going to be an animation...but more of an...art)

Background: White, but you could (and probably should) draw your own :p

Sounds: Try to stay away from sound effects, but you can use them if you want

Deadline: Obviously Before Pico Day, So About April 20th Or Earlier.

All you have to say is "I'm In!" and post a piece of your work to see if you are acceptable for the collab.

Lies, most people use export to export flash movies because then you don't get the extra's with it, and only the SWf or what you want

So don't listen to dante, I use export to export flash

But to answer your question, I have no idea! Maybe try copying all the frames, putting them in a new document and then trying to export it in that file?

But besides that I don't know

hope I helped

Oh, and just a quick note, don't expect to be amazingly awesome when you first get it, flash takes years to get good at, and another couple years to be able to make awesome games

But, that aside, good luck

goto file, import to library, and then pick your file, it will appear in your library

then goto the frame where you want to import the music, and look at the properties menu, there should be a drop down arrow where you can select the music
