Don't get caught up with what others are doing. I've failed miserably in many areas and it can be freaking depressing. But the bottom line is to be grounded and passionate in what you love to do - such dedication to this job will ultimately allow you to specialize and become better than your peers' skills.
Then again, if you love doing something illegal/worthless, you can always join the rest of the illegals - California thrives on your participation in the agriculture industry. =P
Hmmm... I'd vote for this soldier - a great guy for such hellish conditions...

I am definitely going to learn how to animate SOON!
To have one of these in my room would be SWEET! =)
Thanks for inspiring us, Tom!
I found NG just a couple of months ago and instantly fell in love with it. Although I don't agree or like all the content posted, your site is so diverse that everyone can be entertained and have a sense of ownership.
Flash is currently under-rated and I think as more web 2.0 social networks arise, NG will gain much more momentum. I work for a startup company that focuses on the paradigm shifts of the Internet and I foresee NG picking up. It's all a matter of catching the right train, not giving up, and staying true to your core strengths - community is obviously one of NG's greatest assets.
Congrats, Tom. For the past 12 years, you've created and maintained a strong and powerful online community. Even noobs like myself appreciate your staff's hard work. God bless, buddy. =)
Great discussion.
I discussed this topic extensively while I was in law school. It was a course on Legal Aspects of Future War. My classmate made a prediction about how genetic engineering/cloning will be a a significant national security issue and the U.S. will suffer. Imagine "superior" soldiers, advanced medicines and surgical operations, and biological implants determining who will win a war.
Why should America be concerned?
B/c of our moral values, we're way behind everyone else who is doing this form of research/business. Other countries will surpass us in this regard. Then again, we can just steal their research when the time comes, or do something else to stay ahead of the game. But yah, it's a major worry amongst those who realize the potential of cloning/genetic engineering.
With all the pain and suffering those college kids went through, I encourage them to demand some form of compensation.
Seriously, who would want to be branded/questioned as a rapist? No matter what happens from now on, those kids have to live with that humiliating scar. I can't say this will help their social scene one bit.
Umm... how long does this message last on the Front Page? I assume it lasts until another qualified member posts his/her own message?
Good discussion. Anyone who can face fear with courage has the potential to be a hero. Anyone who actually acts with courage is a hero - perhaps not for everyone, but to someone.
Then there's the issue of what is a cowardice? I tend to think those who allow fear to overcome and control the individual is a coward.
Somewhere down the line, I think we all can associate ourselves with both sides...
Chrono Trigger - introducing combined attacks in a RPG? Amazing.
Thanks for the nostalgic memory. =)
