when sprites are animated well, it takes a lot of work,
Also, some of us have mice that couldn't draw a straight line at all with an old beat up mouse ball that still rolls crooked no matter how much you clean it.
I do have a problem with people using them to animate the same story time and time again though, that is what first probably gave sprite anims a bad rep.
I still say, It isn't premade animation, its a big picture with little pictures, I say to everyone here who is a sprite hater, to get a sprite sheet, and animate something that gets better than a 4 out of 10. Its tough, quite tough. Animation (of any style) DOES require creativity and hard work. And sprites may actually present tougher challenges as to the limitation of poses (unless you frequently custom make them) whereas, when you draw, you can do any pose.
Artistic Talent does not just apply to painting, it applies to any work of art. Directing, acting, animating, drawing, editing, etc. all require artistic talent. Apparently, someone who posted thought only drawing and painting required Talent.
Also, I personally would preffer alvin-earthworm kept SMBZ mostly sprite animated, It brings a retro feel to it, and makes it feel more interestingly cool to bring together mario themes, and DBZ style fights.
