Actually, hypnosis is a state not the act of making someone do something while in a trance.

Also, you're always going in and out of trances for instance, when you daydream, that is by definition a trance state, where the sub concious mind has taken over while you dream.

true, but the nature of the mind is to follow what's going on in the outside world aswell as carry out thoughts. So the things in the mind are forever changing.

Mind Reading question. Posted June 9th, 2010 in General

One of the most wanted superpowers has been mind reading, and in movies and stuff they always portray it as an echoey voice.

My question is: Wouldn't the mind just be spewing random thoughts constantly instead of saying one thing just at the right time?

For example: in a movie I saw a while ago the good guy read the mind of someone and he just happened to be thinking about what the good guy wanted. But shouldn't he just be spewing random thoughts instead of this very precise information?
