Male voice to Female with Audacity Posted December 6th, 2012 in Audio

I'm looking into seeing if I can alter a male voice into a female voice using Audacity, that way I won't have to ask for voice actors. So far, I can do the opposite (Sort of) and change a female voice to a male using music. But it's been quite hard to do in the former. Two outcomes come out of attempting it, and you either have a male voice that's higher in tone, but still identified as a male, or an annoying talking squirrel.

I'm going to attempt an experiment where I get my voice to it's highest pitch making me sound female-ish and then use Audacity to take it that step further and see what I come up with. Has this experiment been attempted before, if so, how is the results?

Response to: What to have in an animation demo? Posted December 6th, 2012 in Animation

I said a while ago that I was going to be starting an animation project. A lot of people said that they wanted to help but wanted to see an animation demo first as I had never shown anything before. I get started animating things but then noticed that I didn't know what to include. can anyone give me some ideas?

My question is: if you were looking at an animation demo, what would you want to see?

Don't go for story animations, companies aren't looking for that, coming up with stories are for their producers to work out, and will only bore their shit out. They're looking for how you can animate a character, a scene, etc. So keep it fast, keep it real, show them how you can animate one thing, and go straight to another so as to not bore them. Music in the background is also important, it helps to attract them even further. I can't help you decide the music because I suck at music picking :/

Also, very important: don't be a Jack-of-all-Trades, it only shows the company that you're a Master-of-None. Choose one trade, enhance it to it's maximum and show that one off. That will be the one that gets you the job.

In my DeviantART page, I've noticed that my parody works get viewed much more than my original work. One of my most popular comics has over 9000 views (Pardon the meme XD) whereas one of my original colourings only has 150 after three years.

So here's the billion dollar question: How do you get contacts and connections WITHOUT doing fanart and parodies?

Response to: Newbie looking for others Posted December 5th, 2012 in Collaboration

I have MSN and other messengers. And yes, having two animators would make things much easier:

Say you have 30 scenes to animate. With two, you can divide the work and make it 15 ^^

Doing parodies/comics of everything (Anime, video games and cartoons)
or Original work

Heh, understatement that he's a FFXIII fanboy (Oh his own work to boot). But we just gotta wait until he leaves that phase :/ If he had the balls to move from XII to XIII, then I'm sure he can find it again to move from XIII to KH xD

Response to: Why the Rich are Rich Posted December 4th, 2012 in Politics

I'd say anyone can turn rich just by knowing a few people and having a few bright ideas to revolutionize mankind. But that's for material gain. Being truly rich is when you achieve all your life's goals and die peacefully without regrets :)

Response to: Is Toon Boom worth getting? Posted December 4th, 2012 in Animation

I've mainly heard that it's more stable and less prone to crashing, and offers some good features that Flash doesn't. Another big reason is because the shorts I hope to animate are going to be longer than a lot of the really brief ones that are often on the front page. Modern versions of Flash apparently crash easily if you try and make a lengthier film all in one file. Does anyone here who uses Toon Boom have any thoughts on what aspects of it are better and worse than Flash?

In my experiences, it's never really about the program you use, but the skills you yourself possess. A beginner with Photoshop could still lose to an expert with MS paint. But if you want to make the change, then go ahead.

well it is. that and its all cluster fucked by Tetsuya nomura who created KH then started development of XIII in 05 then the Trailer for Versus (which he is running) in 06 and has yet to have a release date. and still nothing has come to fruition. explain that

A good game often takes years to produce.

Response to: Action Scene Process? Posted December 3rd, 2012 in Animation

Straight-ahead: You can potentially animate a lot faster this way, but if you don't have the idea well fleshed out in your head you risk making mistakes and wasted work

Pose-to-Pose: Takes longer, but mistakes/changes are less work intensive to do.

I like straight-ahead better myself, but it is not a one size fits all deal.

Hmmm...I'll experiment with straight ahead and see what I come up with :) Thanks for the info :)

Action Scene Process? Posted December 3rd, 2012 in Animation

I always wanted to do action scenes in 2D Flash, but the whole idea of fast-paced action really turns me off. I can hardly animate static characters without it looking uncanny. When creating animations like that, am I right in thinking this process would be right:

*Create a script to note down EVERYTHING that will happen
*From that script, create storyboards that mark down all the key moments in that animation
*Create the same key frames in flash and position it to get the timing right
*Add in-betweens to make the animation more fluid
*Fix any anomalies.
*Done

It sounds easy when I say it like that, but I wanna take it to the next level and make it more advanced. So I need some advice on how to create such advanced animations. Thanks.

Response to: Newb question Posted April 11th, 2009 in Game Development

Make a new frame on the timeline, but make sure it's at the bottom of all your animations.
