even with spybot the adware and spyware can come back. get spywareblaster to put the scripts on your machine that prevent most from ever running, or coming back. prevents all, if you update often.
uhh kam would you like me to re-post what i posted since you obviously didnt read it? i posted a list of things.. including blockers... spybot, spywareblaster..
thanks. ps if you are a NIS user visit this url. it explains that there has been a vulnerability found in NIS.

anyway, if i am a noob why would i have such a large amount of advice?
i am a noob? then why do you think you arent? you spelled a word with NUMBERS!! that is the dumbest thing you could possibly do!!!!
anyway, i'm not a regular poster... whats the deal with the level thing?
did people not read what i said??? spywareblaster is the main one you should want, it prevents anything from self-installing, running, bringing up the active x agreement, and from being installed with something else. also windows update u should get.
here is what i said, read thoroughly:
boy are you people luckyi came when i did.. never seeing ads again takes alot of work, but you can do it!
http://www.ecst.csuchico.edu/~atman/spam/adblock.shtml <-- read all here, follow instructions.
http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php <-- download this antivirus program, it has no spyware/adware and its free. update often.
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html <-- download this program, it stops spyware from running, and from being installed. (including from malicious code.)
http://toolbar.google.ca/ <-- i am sure everyone knows what this is.. it stops most pop-up ads. enable the blocker on sites with pop-up ads, like this one.
http://download.com.com/3001-8022-10194058.html <-- this will take you to spybot search and destroy, the download window will come up right when visiting.
http://www.pcflank.com/securitynews.htm <-- this web site will keep you up to date on any internet security news.
http://www.windowsupdate.com <-- i can not stress enough how important the critical updates are. get them to stop malicious code from running on web pages and in outlook/outlook express, and these updates will help stop hackers from compromising your computer.
http://www.agnitum.com/download/outpost1.html <-- the best ever firewall, the site even has a forum! (those who have zone alarm free version, uninstall and get outpost NOW because zone alarm has a security flaw allowing hackers in. the maker of zone alarm decided not to fix the flaw hoping it would make free users buy the full version, do not fall for this trick! dont give them money for risking online security!!!!)
lol no edit button... oh well i meant lucky not glad

hows about, if those bbs errors are here to stay, then make the message field REMEMBER what you typed in when you click 'back' to try posting again...
THE SOLUTION TO ADS
go to downloads.com and find and download spywareblaster, and spybot (no spybot isnt the cause of the problems, that person lied. its spyware or adware thats the cause. spybot is the cure.) and install the programs, run em, update em, use spybot's scan to eliminate adware/spyware, and use spywareblaster's enormous range of scripts to immunize yourself from the adware/spyware (and, a couple virii, as ive noticed... worms to be specific).
goto the start menu, goto run, type in command, use the dos prompt to get to the directory c:/windows then type in "edit hosts" with no quotes, then press enter, then type in:
"127.0.0.1 localhost"
then on the following lines, as many as you want, you can do something like
"127.0.0.1 ads.track.net"
or
"127.0.0.1 track.net"
track.net is an ad site. you can put whatever site in the place of track.net. whatever you put, will turn the banners from that host, into "this page cannot be displayed" in microsoft's IE.
also, those people who mentioned the google toolbar are right, it does stop all popup windows that are automatically brought up. i use it.
if there is anything i missed, be my guest, tell me what i missed. yes i am completely aware of ad-aware, (accidental pun) but spybot is the better alternative.
