Yeah, what a shame. Maybe next time he should use more already popular characters.

It also might help if you cut up the audio and sent it to the authors, or put it online or something. That way there's no overlapping or excess work.

I said above I wasnt making him realistic, thanks anways though.

He still doesn't conform to basic perspective, regardless if he's supposed to look more like life or cartoony. It will help make your drawings look a lot less awkward.

Go to the text properties and there should be an option where you can change 'anti-alias for readability' to 'anti-alias for animation'

Response to: Monthly Voting, Audio Showcase Posted December 2nd, 2005 in NG News

This is probably one of the hardest months to pick votes for. Just in one week there were like four submissions that made it to the top five. As your King this month I give thanks to everyone who may have voted for my movies. For I am but a simple servant in tom fulp's vineyard.

your part for that was surprisingly accurate.

mine wasn't that great, but it was my tenth consecutive submission to win an award. GO ME.

Response to: Infidel Guy on Wife Swap Posted November 23rd, 2005 in NG News

If you ever thought wife swap was trying to completely rip off trading spouses, you're probably right.

They had almost this EXACT SAME PREMISE about two weeks ago which featured that beastly woman melting down and going bananas.

abum.com is stealing flashes Posted November 15th, 2005 in General

I checked my referrer hits and found some from this website, abum.com. Apparently it's the new ebaum, because it just jacked three of my movies and some other stuff from newgrounds. Where is the outrage?!

This was probably the hardest week to win an award ever. All the movies have ridiculously high scores. Good deal.

Yup, that's basically the idea.

What's the first bit we have to send you?

Preferbaly, I'd like the whole thing at once, if that's what you're asking

Also, It's occurred to me that it'd probably be good to post progress if you want to. That way the thread stays alive, and more people have a chance to see it.

Response to: One Night Stand Collaboration Posted November 1st, 2005 in Game Development

what are the rules with commercial comics. if im not personally funny (not that im not), and i :cant come up with a routine or one-liners, can i use an obscure comic's set?

No commercial comics. Although, it's alright if you get somebody to help you write a set or provide the voice (if you're really not that great). You know, just as long as it's homegrown.

Response to: One Night Stand Collaboration Posted November 1st, 2005 in Game Development

do we have to tell you, or are you just going to use whatever you get.
what i mean is, is this a community thing (where we stick around and talk about stuff), or are :you just expecting some random contributions.

You can give a shoutout and let me know you're interested, but it's better to just do it. talk is very cheap. But essentially you're working on your own here, and then submit what you've done. I don't like to say random, because it's more about a variety. I'd like to get a good mix of authors and styles.

One Night Stand Collaboration Posted November 1st, 2005 in Game Development

THE PLOT: A collection of animated original stand up comedy routines.

THE DETAILS: You will create a short comedy routine that should be between 1-3 minutes long. It should start out with you, or a character of yours, in front of the blank workspace, NO BACKGROUNDS. I'll put in the background later. However, you or your chracter don't have to be on screen very long, because it'd be very boring to see someone tell a joke in front of a brick wall. That's why you're going to provide the visuals and animate whatever you're talking about. And it can be a funny story, a rant, or even just some straight forward jokes, mitch hedberg style. It doesn't matter, as long as you're narrating it and it's funny.
After everybody has turned theirs in, I'll pick about four or five of the best ones (depending on file size) and edit them together. I'm MC for the event so I'll do custom introductions for each of the authors in the collaboration. You see, just like it was a real nightclub or something.

THE RULES:
-24 FPS
-480x360
-the comedian must be on a blank workspace, the actual animated part does not.
-Break your fonts!
-Unique Symbols, please
-Stream Sound Only
- No additional Sound Effects or Music
- any flash version format

.FLA files are due Sunday, November 20th, 11:59pm EST

Email them to me at
robotboxandcactus@gmail.com. I'm gonna set the file limit to 10mb since that's the gmail attachment limit.

Alright, so who's in? Questions? Comments? Haystacks?

It's a 2. It's not that great, and you should refrain from using gradients that go from black to another color.

my trial of flash 8 ran out. I ordered it through my school, but their stupid lazy asses lost it somewhere. I managed to squeeze out another 5 days though by never closing the program, but it finally crashed last night.

Jesus, what's you're problem. Sprite animation is an art style, plus I'm friends with :BigArmyBug, why would I want to make him get a lower award.

I never accused you of lowering scores, but I agree that sprite animation is a valid form of art. Unfortunately, you're not really exploiting or pushing that. It's clear that you've got a keen eye for design and your movies look clean, but they lack a sense of originality because you're using someone else's drawings. If you really ever want to stand out, I think you should try drawing your own sprites. You know, something that you can claim as your own.

Response to: Top entries from 10/09/2005! Posted October 10th, 2005 in P-bot's Postings

That does seem awfully suspicious, and it's a shame too. I also think it's a joke that you were beat out by this wario2k3 clown for what is essentially using other people's art. And it's not even like there's really that much animation or substance to his movies anyways.

Here's what you should do: put a filter on the play button so you have to have flash 8 to go forward, and have a link to the flash 8 player site for those who need it.

Detecting Flash 8 Posted September 19th, 2005 in Game Development

I want to submit some movies to the portal that have been compiled with flash 8. The problem is though that not everyone has flash 8 player yet, and even if you put write something about it in the author's comments, there will still be those dense few who will casually remain ignorant and wonder why they only see a blank movie. They see the blank movie and then vote 0, thus lowering the score.
So , is there a script for that will stop someone from viewing a movie and tell them to upgrade their player first?

Response to: Ng Time Trial Xvi - The Return Posted September 17th, 2005 in Game Development

Ok, 1.5 mb for the SWF, but what's the kbps it's going to be exported at? I'd say 32, because it sounds pretty clean.
