The note doesn't stop, and when the next note is played, the first isn't stopped, they play simultaneously (sp?). How do I stop a certain note from playing...

walker turret is near completion. Scripting is pretty much done, just enhancing the graphics. I guess I'll just do everything that's been said here that I liked in order until I get them all done.

I'm gonna skip mortar (not taht I won't do it, I just don't wanna do it now), I'll do the nuke turret.
Though you should know, djbdr, that it will not launch a nuke. I will simply use the 'radiation' factor of the missile.

oh and I thought of it having two machine guns like a typical mecha walker would, and in addition a fireball launcher.

if you do get into passive you should make one that lets you manually fire them at one point... for a boss or sumfin. but i guess if you have nuke theres no point.

That's been suggested, and am considering of doing that, with the user's choice of having manual or pilot control.

and have you thought of traps?

other than turrets that set up traps (like the mine turret that's been suggested), I don't want anything to do with the user manually setting up traps.

mound turret: well, there's already the snow turret that slows down the enemies, so I don't see how this would bring anything unique to the game.

supersonic: I generally don't like the special ability. Because its manually controlled. Like I explained in another manually-controlled suggestion, manual control forces the play to constantly check on the special, and see if the 1 min is up, which causes the player to be distracted from other turrets, and other aspects of the game.

Mag cannon: sounds like a mega-sniper turret. Is that what you were going for?

minefield turret: not a bad concept at all. And once one of the mines explode, it is immediatley replaced. ok, I guess I'll take that.

demon cannon: Well, it's not really a turret. It's like an animal type of thing, that just doesn't move. The way of it leveling is interesting though.

Why not try something more original and let them be hurt? Possibly give enemy units a 1 in 4 chance (or whatever) of stopping and attacking to turrets. Because, to be honest, those tower defence games are getting samey. These new turret types will make it a hell of a lot better, but maybe some more originality will really push it up there.

This is just a basic DT engine.
I want to make the engine and release it before making anything revolutionary.

I will expand on the basics, and make some cool stuff after the basics - I was thinking of being able to make your own units, and instead of only having a losing option (base gets destroyed), you can destroy the opponent's base, and have missions and all that shit...

so in that case, turrets having health wouldn't be a bad idea at all. But not now...

frenzy turret: ...what? I guess this turret shoots your own units... but like I said, no user units yet.

nailgun turret: I was thinking of something similar: sniper turret. Obviously a nails wouldn't do much damage to huge beasts and stuff. But a sniper turret is the same idea, just w/ bullets that hurt and stuff :P

rethought my opinion about the controllable turret - it's not a bad idea actually. A user can switch from having it manually controlled to having it pilot control.

What I thought you meant was having it just manually controlled, which would then put pressure on the user to have it fire at all times of the game, which then would make it a lot harder for him to upgrade other turrets, and so on.

site turret - I may have a tank turret just for NG, and one more for my sponsor or something, but besides that, I'm not gonna make a turret for EVERY site I submit it to. It's a neat idea though, something to consider, at the game's completion.
snowball - It's already on my list of thing I have already done. Mine doesn't have splash, but I don't want it to, so... ;)

thank you everybody, this is going better than I expected.

Here are some ideas I thought of recently, you can feedback, and expand on the idea, or it might give you ideas of your own:

prim tower: shoots prism stuff (lasers I guess). If the tower is within another tower's radius, they combine power, to shoot a prism that is twice the power of a regular tower (this would be seen by the width of prism - gets twice as big obviously).

orb collector (gay name- i'll change it) - in my game there are types of bullets - one is a blue orb. About 10 turrets will use it. So this turret collects these bullets, and sends them orbiting around the turret (like in momentum missle mayhem). when the orbs hit the units, they do 1.5 times damage.

the gravity turret is an interesting concept. I might experiment w/ it a bit.

as for the second creation - the units are small in comparison to the playing field- so having them as 'barriers' is very useless.

Naplam turret & double minigun: ...double minigun is just weird, and I suppose you would have to elaborate on the naplam turret, b/c I already have something similar to that.

Telepathic turret: no. You can't make units in my game, only turrets. I will make a second version, where you can make units, so that is something I will consider when that time comes (hope it will be sooner than expected ;[ )

confuse turret: meh. doesn't do damage at all, and it's kinda weird ;P

I'll give those mortar and artillary things a little spicing of mine. I'll see what I can do.

The artillary turret can be cool actually... It shoots upwards, then only after a couple of second, hell from above!!!
