Last month was a good month for Newgrounds, probably to do with the festive season or something...

Since Frost'D was a staffimation,

The only bad part about being an NG staff member is that you can never properly win a monthly award.

Oh YOU GUYS.

Guilty as charged for that new M-n-F installment!

If I have the time, I will definately be in! Can we have a submission about people playing Street Fighter, or should I just do something about Guile and his sonic booms?

I'm in. As soon as I get my school project out of the way, which is my first game in Flash, I can focus on more stuff I've wanted to do for a long time. Hopefully my work load will stay minimal, so you can see a lot more of me!

I like them so much that I'm setting one as my desktop. Sorry Stamper, but I will no longer be looking at your Tokyo background every time I turn my machine on!

So here's a random task for anyone who wants to participate: Make a list of what you consider to be the most influential Flash submissions from 2008.

This is probably what most people will choose, but I have because it raises the bar for the many animators of this site. It does what Waterlollies did in 2007, let my jaw drop.

Response to: Merry Christmas! Posted December 26th, 2008 in NG News

Yesterday was great! I didn't go on a computer once, except for the time I looked at some cheat codes for Rock Band 2. I learned that the map creation in Far Cry 2 is the fastest way to let time pass without noticing. There was also a lot of clothing and a lovely watch wrapped in paper, what a day!

I've ordered another batch of tablets, which we'll be giving out in 2009 as part of ongoing art contests.

Interesting, I might participate next time...

I might post tomorrow, but if I don't, MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

And a merry Christmas to you too! Try to enjoy a happy time with your wife instead of bothering to make a post. I never go on the computer during Christmas day, it's definately better!

Last week we invited everyone to post their drawings of Keanu Reeves. The end result was this:

Woah!

I might, but I'm indecisive between the Newgrounds and Weebl versions.

Wired.com put out a "best of 2008" and Castle Crashers won 3rd best Xbox 360 game of the year, one spot ahead of Gears 2... Which is crazy talk but hey I'll take that!

I enjoyed Castle Crashers more than Fable II, which took first place. In my mind, it's crazy talk because it isn't high enough up the list!

NG is still blocked in China, but things are slowly loosening up over there and some day a bajillion more people might be able to visit NG.

You and your hyperbolic ways!

Luis posted a new theme for the Weekly Animator Flash-Off taking place on the Flash forums. Heavy concrete blocks, what now?

If I have time, I've told Luis that I'm in.

At 12/2/08 11:35 AM, TomFulp wrote: Today's daily Wacom winner is Drew Matson, aka Five-Iron!

I might have seen his work, but I probably haven't. Anyway, congratulations for the tabelt!

On Thursday I tossed out an idea for Thanksgiving break, inspired by LeafWorthy's Panda Fight. While LF's theme was "Pandas and Civil War", this theme was "Turkeys and the Rapture." Here are the resulting movies:

None of them over the 3.00 mark, strangely enough.

I was planning to submit a Flash animation today, but that might not happen because of a scene problem I've encountered. In total, I have five scenes and the first scene has four buttons to go to another scene. For each button I have added script that looks like this:

on(release){
_root.gotoAndPlay("frame");
}

In the next four scenes I have labelled a frame at the beginning. "frame" is just an example and I have labelled each of these four frames with a different name, repeating the same exact word in the script. This script works for two of the scenes, which instantly play as soon as I release over the corresponding button. However, the other two go to the scene but don't start playing; it pauses. To the first frame I added:

gotoAndPlay(nextFrame)

This goes to the next frame, but it still pauses and doesn't even play with the right-click menu. So far the only thing I can do is add the same script to every frame in both scenes, but I will never resort to that. What is going on and how can this be solved?
