It is a 5 second clip with text "A Nat29 Production" floating on heavy waves and then sinks.

Also, this is optional, but if you want, you can do a looping heavy waves animation.

The program is Flash. The version of Flash could be up to CS6.

Thanks!

Response to: 60 Frame Collab 5: Posted November 2nd, 2012 in Collaboration

well i finished my first entry. it's built from a previous test.
i gave it a black fade in and a white fade out so it can fit somewhere between 2 other submissions.
this 20FPS thing is kinda fucked, it's near impossible to get the timing right.
anyhow, i'm making excuses

like i said, i'm no scripter

but thanks egg, i'll read up on some more functions, and if i can't find what i need i'll just animate by hand. appreciate the help

the duplicateMovieClip() function would be useful, here.

you know i tried this

onClipEvent(enterFrame){
duplicateMovieClip(this,mc,1);
}

but it just attaches it to the tween. i need it to "spawn" one at the MC's location and leave it there until it is destroyed

the problem from hereon out would be how to do it - how do i know where to put the sound in audacity.
I see the frames.... ok and i guess i can somehow calculate if one second has 24Fps - where the individual
frames would be on a millisecond scale...then i have to put all the sounds in one audacity file and
i guess then i have to "create silence" in between all the sounds, in the span of what i calculated with the FPS.
sounds awfully complicated X_X

oh no no, in the timeline window, you'll see near the bottom there is the FPS box, and to the right of it it says current frame, and time. it's broken down into 00:00 milliseconds so you've got a very accurate reference.

Response to: In Flash, Audio Out Of Sync - Fix? Posted November 1st, 2012 in Animation

okay, sorry i thought the sound got behind because of swf lag

http://postimage.org/image/t8fo4f7db/

that's where to export as MOV

with the mov file you'll have a timeline that you can use as a reference when combining the sounds in audacity

speed isn't an issue, it won't be viewed in SWF form for the final product

Response to: In Flash, Audio Out Of Sync - Fix? Posted November 1st, 2012 in Animation

is your problem lag related? does it start out in sync(lol) and slowly become behind the animation?

if so, or you don't know, try exporting it as a video, like MOV if there are movieclips in it.

or go to the first frame of your animation and add this to it's actions:

_quality = "low";

that way it starts in low quality and adds less lag

if that isn't the case, what you'll have to do is export the flash as a video file anyway like MOV, so you have an accurate timeline to compile your sounds in audacity to as a reference

Spawn mc along path Posted November 1st, 2012 in Game Development

Hey guys, i'm no coder, but i know a wee bit of AS.
i'm actually making a film in flash and want my sparks played in a random fashion. so what i'd like to do is have a main MC, say "Spark" and inside it i have 12 indivdual frames, with each frame hold a different MC, say "spark1, spark2, etc"

what i would like to do is be able to just tween the MC on the stage, and on each individual root frame, it picks one of those sparks and spawns that movieclip in the same position, then destroys it on it's last frame(that part isn't a big deal, i can just use a blank frame and stop();)

anyhow i can use as 2 or 3.0. this is the only AS in the film so there's no crunch on that.

any help is appreciated. thanks guys :]

Thx I might look more into tweening to learn what you mean, But onion skinning is where I fall short

this post is assuming you know how to turn on the onion-skinning feature:

when you're Frame by frame animating with the onion skin feature, look at it the same as you would a tween

your image is in a certain place, and you want it to go to another place.

since you're at 30FPS, let's say on frame one you have an arm in the down position, and you want it in the up position.
timing is key, and for a simple arm animation, this should be about 6-10 frames, depending on how fast you want it to be.

let's say 10

so what you want to do is draw your arm down on frame one, up on frame 10, and at a halfway/bent position on frame 5.
this is a good outline for you to go off of. now on frame 3 you want to draw the arm in an inbetween position of frame 1 and 5, and the same for frame 7(between 5 and 10)

now head back to frame 2,4,6,8 and draw the positions between the odd numbered frames.

this is a good and basic outline for FbF animation. you'll run into timing issues and unnatural motion in the symmetrical take though, so you will want to add frames between 2 and 3, 8 and 9, and so on until you get the natural speed you're looking for.

i hope this helps and happy animating

make the ambulance a movieclip (F8)

double click this new movieclip to enter the sub-menu where the ambulance graphic can be animated.

draw your siren inside this and convert that to a graphic(F8-> "graphic" from drop down menu)

animate the sirens flashing inside this graphic.

back on the mainstage animate the ambulance moving along the stage as you normally would, you will notice the graphic inside the movieclip will be "stuck" to the ambulance throughout the tween.

make sure the graphic of the sirens is marked as "Loop" in the properties menu and you'll see the siren animation looping along the main timeline as if you've done it seperately

enjoi

Response to: problem with graphic symbols ? Posted October 30th, 2012 in Animation

well the left 2 look spot on to eachother. the right is a completely different sequence. What exactly are you seeing that's wrong, considering we don't know what you're going for.

nesting an animation sequence inside a graphic or movieclip is only necessary for game-making, or looping an action on the main timeline.

give a little more context and i'll be able to help you out

If it has been in the any of the daily top 5, you can check this post. Yes flash is only good at export SWF and I am planning to do all my final lines on toonboom. I find Flash is really great with planning because of its ability to edit multiple frames at once.

i've got 10 years invested and $1400 in flash, so i don't want to stop using the program because of shitty export settings. but swivel gave me a little bit of hope again

Alternatively, you can also draw the line with the pencil tool, then click/drag the ends (with the magnet tool on) and make sure they are snapped. It can be pretty tedious, but it works ;)

good point, i think that's more tedious than anything!

it doesn't bother me because i don't use the paint bucket, i use a thick brush, and draw behind settings. then delete the overflow.

Because of this problem I always use brushtool when I animate :(
Thanks for reading!
