The turntable's made of different material as well. Regular version seems pretty solid anyway, but I've only had it for 2 days so my opinion doesn't mean much.

DJ Hero's fun, but I've already hit my wall as far as achievements are concerned; after I pick up the 2 guitar/DJ achievements I don't expect to get anything more out of it unless I put some serious practice time into it. (And I probably will, but this is a lot more involved than guitar hero and could take a considerable amount of time to be good at.)

$120 is still pretty damned expensive, however. I'd recommend waiting for Black Friday if you're patient enough, maybe a relevant deal will roll around.

My rental ended today. It was more of the same (as it should be) but I'm just not ready for it right now; I'm still burned out from finishing off what was left of my Forza 2 file. With that said I may buy it in a few months when it drops in price, it's still a great game.

P.S.: About to take off to Best Buy, wish me luck. I got an advance on my birthday cash from later this month so I can afford it quite easily now.

So Best Buy's buy 2 get 1 free deal ended yesterday, but I'm gonna go in there and pull off the customer is always right bullshit and buy DJ Hero, Borderlands and Tekken 6 tomorrow.

I don't really have much money to spare at the moment and normally would never buy games at full price, but DJ Hero just looks like fun and I might as well take advantage of the (now expired) deal before it's too late. I'd think they'd still let me get away with it at least for tomorrow. Should they decide to be shitty with me I just won't get anything; hopefully there's no arguing to be done, I hate harassing cashiers.

RB6:V 2 - 970/1000 (Only missing attack & defend map specific achievements, I was more prone to playing survival when I did get on.)
RB6:V - 1000/1000 ('Master of Ceremonies' was pure chance, not really something that should have been an achievement.)

With that said I could use an excuse to play again; if I'm not busy and there's something you're struggling with, or you just want to play with somebody, let me know. Maybe I can help? I doubt I'll be as good as I was before but that's not really the point anyhow.

I thought about getting SF IV again like I posted earlier and then I remembered the horrible day I spent just running arcades and raging at time trials and all that blah. It'd be a lot of work and absolutely none of my steam friends are getting it, so I reluctantly decided against it.

Arkham Asylum is pretty fun, but fuck those combat challenges. I cannot kill everybody in time on Shock and Awe (extreme) and to "three bat" everything else would practically require you to be telepathic and have perfect timing. At least the predator challenges were fun while they lasted, I would buy an entire game based scenarios like that, I felt like I was playing splinter cell.

BlazBlue has to be the most fun I've had going for online ranked game related achievements, of course, it doesn't actually matter if I win or lose for these, but it's much more fun to win. I just love ranked matches. Perhaps I'm speaking too soon, I mean, I haven't even fought a single spamming Jin yet, but every enemy, regardless of who they main, has faced the same demise.

I forgot the time I spent playing Mirror's Edge would be counted towards this week's total. That + BlazBlue gave me more than I realized, but I'm not complaining. Even if you had checked scores on Sunday I would have had right around the same amount give or take 50 points. I'm surprised more people didn't benefit from the added time.

Officially done with all of BlazBlue's offline content. 100%'d the gallery, completed all arcade modes and 100% cleared all stories and have unlocked all of the japanese interviews I can't understand.

Now I just need to play 200 ranked matches and a few more player matches and it's an enjoyable, quick 1,000/1,000.

(Unless you're talking about Overlord 2, which I haven't played yet and wouldn't know about.) IIRC, you have to take every decision opportunity and choose to be a dick or choose to be good EVERY TIME there's absolutely no middle ground, if you slip up once your run doesn't count for anything. Then again, if you still burn down the grove afterwords there's a chance it would make up for your previous deed, but I doubt anybody would be able to tell you for sure whether or not that would work, most people wouldn't find themselves in that situation.

Hey did anybody else buy BlazBlue yet? I haven't really decided if I like it yet but plenty of my friends have it and I suppose I can learn to love it. For now I'm still learning basics, it's a lot like Guilty Gear, for obvious reasons, and it's a refreshing break from Street Fighter. I suppose I'll be wasting a lot of time offline with friends possibly earning a random secret achievement every once in a while.

And although I think I shouldn't even acknowledge his posts PhobicRaptor has me intrigued:

I realize this means a lot to you "PhobicRaptor" but regardless of how you can prove that you're really who you claim to be (and arguing will get you nowhere) there's a reason this is called the official NG gamerscore leaderboard. Hang around for awhile, get your post count up to at least 500 (proving your involvement in the community) and you're more than welcome to join.

In the mean time if you're still upset that nobody believes you take a picture of your dashboard with a paper sign and date or something at least; if you were in our position would you really believe a same-day sign up abruptly posting here and claiming the top spot with nothing more than his word? Alternatively you could keep saying "shut the fuck up and add me" not that wouldn't provide any proof anyhow; we can already see that the account you're claiming has that score, but there's no way of knowing that it's actually yours.

All of this has got me thinking, not that we should need it except in unusual situations, but should we establish another way of signing up and validating your account? Like even something as simple as replying to a message sent to the account? (Not that I'd want to make that extra work necessary for Jawdyn, I mean, you already do enough.)

I've gotten to the point in Mirror's Edge where I've finally realized it's not fun.

The speed runs pretty much require you to memorize everything in the level and hope that the dumb AI doesn't suddenly decide to actually aim for a second. At any time the game could kill you and if your motions aren't perfect that 5m drop to the area below you that they just decided shouldn't be accessible will probably kill you.

For what it's worth I've gotten very good at crossing the triple-sniper area without being touched in under a minute, but that fucking gas can by the last sniper really doesn't need to be there. More than half of my attempts have been thwarted by a random bullet from a PK soldier spazzing out a quarter mile away and nicking that gas can right as I cross it's path, and I just don't have any more patience left.

At 6/30/09 05:28 PM, Dobio wrote: lol, so you support those idiots with 200K gamerscore who just gamesave every game and unlock them?

Microsoft actually put a stop to that a while ago. People were gamesaving and selling accounts or competing for top spots on the leaderboards, people like StripClubDJ (who I actually talked to and helped with "Stuntman: Ignition" legitimately before the whole fiasco) were banned and had their gamerscore wiped out entirely. In his specific situation, he had a whole lot of gamerscore already because he had both a japanese and american 360 and imported a lot of games but he supplemented that with a lot of gamesaving as well and that's what got him wiped.

They have many systems in place now to catch that sort of thing early, and game saves have since tied to accounts/names to prevent it at the most basic levels. The best way to tell if anybody's legitimately playing or not on your own is to check achievement timestamps on xbox.com. If it just says "unlocked" with no date they did it offline and, obviously, if it's an online-only achievement, they're a dirty gamesaving prick.

Oh and hey, if you already haven't had enough of me posting back-to-back here's another for you.

I rented Ninja Blade on Wednesday; it's like an easier, more-over-the-top Ninja Gaiden. Think Ninja Gaiden gameplay with Devil May Cry action sequences, but a little less intense and much more forgiving difficulty wise. I played it through once and redid a few missions all on normal picking up all the collectibles, maxing out weapons, trying to earning the best possible grades and ended up with 815 points. I'll go back through it on hard and earn another 70 at least but I don't think I'll have to the patience to go back through and do a one-weapon/no dying run so I'll probably leave a little over 100 points on this game when I return it.

Be warned, if you hate quick-time events stay away from this game; a major part of this game is comprimised of QTE's. When you do special finishing moves on bosses QTE's of various lengths and difficulty are guaranteed and if you want to get the most grade points on a mission you have to go for special finishes (which are mini QTE's) on all the cannon-fodder enemies scattered about the board among other things. Fortunately the QTE's have mini-checkpoints in them, but if you get stuck on a major QTE (which is likely to has less QTE checkpoints) it could continuously roll back an annoying amount and cost you precious grade points every time you mess up and are forced to sit through the cutscene(s) again.

Overall it was a good rental, but I've got my sights set on other things immediately after it. I'll be renting prototype and maybe buying the genesis/megadrive collection which should pretty easily push me over 90,000 some time soon. (Then I've got about 5 months to earn another 10,000 for the 100,000 which could take a little dedication, but I don't think college will keep me that busy.)

So, you pretty much still cheated?

That's what I said. Want me to reword that for you?

You can level yourself up with console commands and earn those 9 "reach level x with y karma" achievements but it's not as if you can't just go in and press a button to unlock all the other achievements.

It's just as bad as making a good karma save at level 7, 13, and 19 in the console versions and loading them up and getting a shit ton of bad karma then leveling up. Only difference it that there's a little less work involved.

Outside of the leveling commands you can turn on noclip and fly around or go into god mode, making you invincible, no weapon wear, no burden limit, infinite ammo, etc. (AKA having fun.) After finishing a few missions and saving my game I'd fuck around for hours going into places I shouldn't be yet, finding easter eggs, fighting super mutant behemoths bare-fisted at level 1 just to see how long I'd last, enraging liberty prime and dragging him across the map to shoot at me, missing, and inadvertently blowing up an entire raider basecamp, etc.

I also forgot to mention that I have two "The Club" entries. I bought it for $1, seriously. Regardless of how short and "bad" that game was it was mindless fun and a bunch of achievement points for 1/8th the cost of your average xbl arcade game.

I plan on buying more GFWL games but for now the selection really blows:

Quantum of Solace
Universe At Ware: Earth Assault
Stormrise
Battlestations: Pacific
Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Colonies Edition
Gears of War
Kane & Lynch: Dead Men
Viva Piñata
Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War 2
Grand Theft Auto IV (Requires Vista)
Halo 2 (Vista)
Shadowrun (Vista)

None of which, with the exception of Fallout 3, are really compelling. Dawn of War isn't my type of game, Viva Pinata was a great game, but who's really going to buy that for PC? Gears of War is still a "headline" name even after this long? It's a joke, they just don't have enough of a selection. At least they'll have Street Fighter IV some time in the future, not that I'll be buying it anytime near it's release, but I wouldn't mind buying it all over again for some new competition and re-earning a few achievements.

I hope they don't decide to drop this line of games even though it seems to be dead in the water; it's really neat and they've done a great job integrating the xbox live interface in (I can send pictures and voice just like anybody else, and I can read and view any message as well.) Ever since I built myself a new computer pretty much every decent looking game that came out across all prominent platforms was rented on my 360 and later bought on PC (if it impressed me) for the sake of mods and just to have it in my collection. With GFWL I just have the added bonus of achievement points.

520 - 360 version, I only rented it and got that much out of it beforeI had to return it.

1,000 - PC version, I 100%'d it with no extra content. The only parts I used "cheats" for was quick leveling; because I had already played it on my 360 I didn't want to do the same thing over again, I essentially "rebuilt" my character at 20 with the same perks and armor.

Like I said before I had already gotten considerable progress on the 360 version during a rental, and it was fun. But when I got the PC version I decided to do the missions all over again, but I started out more or less where I left off level/ability-wise.

UFC Undisputed is crazy fun online. I went 28-1 and everybody thought I was cheating, but I'm now 41-4, but everyone still thinks I'm cheating. I had ridiculous luck early on, facing the #18 ranked player (XXL Audiovisual) and just beating him with a third round knockout, I immediately went up 17 levels, I nearly pissed my pants.

Anyway, +565 from UFC for now. I love this game. Anybody want to play sometime? I have to return it on Monday.
